Great bookstore, had a few Spanish/English story books which is what I was looking for.

I like to hang out there after church. Being " low income" and not having bought anything, I decided to get something, so I wasn't just taking up store space. I purchased a pen for 3$, and I was surprised about the high quality. They certainly vet their stuff, even their less valuable stuff. read more

When it really comes down to it, is there anything that's better than reading a book with pictures to your kids? I contend that this may have been why the written word was created! Inklings does an incredible job of facilitating this fundamental desire and doing it in a fun way. I've got an incredible amount of story books, picture books, cookbooks and just about everything in between. The favorite discovery recently was a giant picture book about animals. Few things are better after all than a wide-eyed panda bear! The prices are always good, the selection is definitely enough for what you're probably looking for, they have plenty of little trinkets things near the cash register and... Drumroll... They have free gift wrapping! On Tuesdays at 10 AM the owner comes and readsto kiddos, giving you one less excuse to not read to the kids! This is one of those places that we come into and usually walk out with something, just about every time we walk by. Well worth your time and a great business in the area to support! read more

The bookstore is taking the pandemic and customer health very seriously by being open for appointment and offering curb side pick-up for online or phone orders. Everyone inside is wearing a mask, and all the employees are friendly and helpful. We were helped specifically this afternoon by Jessie and checked out by Morgan, and we give both ladies 5 stars! They were fantastic! I definitely recommend Inklings to everyone else in the county--this is a wonderful little gem of a bookstore in the cutest shopping center with friendly, helpful employees. I love this bookstore. My friend took me here a few years ago and I liked it then, but there's nothing quite as inspirational as a well put-together bookstore. If you or someone you love loves books, do yourself (or them) a favor and drive here. I love the selection and there is an amazing amount of fun, unique gifts, too. Perfect for Christmas shopping. Best store in Yakima, I think. The staff is great and there are more staff reviews and suggestions and fun things to see and look at than you can do in one visit. It's fun just to wander the store reading and looking at everything. Like a good book you want to read again and again! Right across from a nice starbucks, too! read more

Great bookstore with friendly staff and comfy chairs. Not a huge selection but good enough and I like to support non-chain businesses. They also carry journals, stationary, and other things that make good gifts. And they carry Theo's chocolate bars next to the register! This is my favorite place to go when I visit Yakima. The books are wonderful, of course, but far beyond that the atmosphere and staff make this an ever-interesting and welcoming destination. If there's a specific book you want and it is not on the shelves, they order it in the morning and have it the following afternoon! No shipping charge. Free gift wrapping too! I've loved every children's book ever recommended at Inklings. My kids are 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 and they enjoy the story time quite a lot. 5 stars is not enough at all. The atmosphere and service is well above expectations and the selection is outstanding. If they don't have it in the store, they can order it in quickly. The prices are not outrageous but it also isn't Walmart. (Thank goodness!) Wonderful gift wrapping services and almost always some kind of sale or deal available. If you don't buy local, this place would convince you to change that. I will continue to shop for myself, my family, and for gifts. I only wish it were bigger so I could stay longer! My 5 year old daughter and I love to grab a coffee and have an "Inklings date". read more

I don't know what it is, but I only like to review things that are the best of the best, why waste my time on the mediocre? This shop does not disappoint. We don't have many book stores around here, and as a shop owner you wouldn't have to try very hard to beat the competition, but you can tell they really care about their presentation. This place feels very comfortable to shop in, and take your time. The kids books section is great, I've gone there just as many times to play with puppets with my kid as I have to go shopping, (just don't tell that to Piper). There are a good many toys and knickknacks to impulse buy too. Kudos on the move, Chalet is a perfect spot for this store, even if everything around it is coming and going. Keep it up! read more

Wow a very neat local bookshop, has a section for all walks of life and little knickknacks to buy as well. This place s is very cleverly put together and is in a really convenient location.. they often have book reading for kids and adults a like. Prices are not too bad and they purchase books back from you used. FYI its next to a Starbucks as well. read more

I was raised in Yakima, then spent 40 years in Seattle as a fashion designer. I moved back to my home town, eventually retired and wrote and published two children's books called Tinker's Chicks Book One & Two....a true story about 3 baby chicks I purchased from a local co-op as future egg layers and the unusual relationship that developed between them and my cat Tinker, also adopted in Yakima. I received a good review from Kirkus and feel the books would be a perfect fit for Inklings. I contacted them and never heard back. I was hoping that a local bookstore would want to promote local authors. read more

This independent bookstore has a fun and inviting atmosphere. They have special events and guests every so often. The people there have always helped me find what I am looking for be it for myself or someone else. All one must do is ask. Sometimes I can't help myself and I buy their cute or funny knick-knacks for my kids. Always a good experience at Inklings. read more

Wonderful, locally owned, independent bookstore. If they don't have the book you're looking for, they'll order it for you and it will arrive quickly. They have a wonderful children's section, unique magazines, lots of cool stationery, and of course, books. They also host storytime for children once a week. Oh! And they totally support local artists/authors, which is wonderful. Great place. read more

This bookstore might be great for new books but don't go there if you want to trade-in your paperbacks. They advertise that they take used books but they really don't want to. I stopped in there on my passing through Yakima. The clerk told me I could leave my used paperbacks there and they would check them out later in the afternoon and then give me a call to tell me if they wanted any of them. Which meant that I would have to make a second trip to their store. The only positive thing I have to say is that the clerk did tell us of another used bookstore that turned out to be great. read more

This isn't just a bookstore bookstore, the staff genuinely cares about their customers and their fellow employees, as evidenced by "Team Mimi" they are doing. If you need a book and they don't have it on hand, they can usually get it in 2-3 days to a week tops. If you're a teacher, there's also a discount, and there's also a program for people who buy books regularly. For an "Indie" bookstore, this bookstore is tops. It's home-owned, you can see and touch the books before you buy them, and they even do second-hand books. (It's not bad that Starbucks is just across the lot!) read more
