I saw Marya (pronounced maria) today for a 90 minute massage. She is not only a fantastic massage therapist but is highly knowledgeable of the bodies bones & muscles. The spa is clean and warm, simply lovely. A must try! read more

Yesterday, I went to Sand Spa for a European Facial and oh my god, it was amazing! I had Candace and she was so super knowlegeable. When I told her what I was using for exfoliation (St. Ives Apricot scrub), she told me to stop using it because it causes micro cuts on your skin, letting bacteria in, and causing acne and sensitivity. I was blown away. She even gave me some recommendations (I got the Dermatalogica Microfoliant made from rice powder and OMG it's amazing)!! I was so relaxed coming out that I am so going back in 6 weeks! Today, my husband and I went in to get a couples massage for my birthday. He got the Swedish-deep tissue combo and I got just a deep tissue. Our masseurs were so incredible. We both had ladies and they really worked our our problem spots. We felt so relaxed. Sand Spa has a great atmosphere. I recommend everyone come here for massages or facials! They are beyond incredible!! read more

Great experience! I went for the first time to do a couples massage, and it was lovely! The massage therapist were very friendly and amazing at what they do. Very small intimate establishment but doesn't take away from the experience. Everything was very clean and sanitary and it smelled amazing. The receptionist were also very nice and welcoming. I will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to others. Price was very affordable which made it even better. Don't shy away from this small establishment you won't regret it! Side note: if you aren't familiar with the area, give yourself at least 10-15 mins to find parking, parking around that area isn't that great especially on weekends, you may have to take a little walk to the spa. read more

My girlfriends and I recently had a girls spa day at SandSpa in Manhattan Beach and it was one of the best experiences! We got the hydra facial signature glows by Joy. She is absolutely amazing! She is so pleasant and makes you feel very comfortable. A few things that stuck out to me that was different from other skin care experiences I've had is that she is very passionate about educating you on the benefits of treatment and skin care products that are result driven. The hospitality here is great. Everyone is so attentive & nice. If you are looking for a spa that is service driven I would come here! Make the day of it. The spa is right by the by beach (literally walking distance) near quite a few diners! We cannot wait to come back for our next service ‍ read more

Went here for the first time today for a 90 minute deep tissue massage with Landon. First of all, super affordable price point at $108. I called at 2:00p and they were able to see me at 3:30p. They were very timely, I checked in and waited for like 3 minutes before Landon escorted me into a room. Landon did an amazing job of checking in with me to make sure I was comfortable throughout the massage. He was incredibly strong and really got in deep on all of my muscles. I like enough pressure that it hurts a little bit and his was perfect. I left super relaxed and rejuvenated with another appointment booked for 2 weeks out! read more

I had such a wonderful experience at the Sand Spa. I had a 60minute deep tissue session with Mariya and it was absolute astonishing. Not only did she take them time to focus on my lower back (the area I was having issues with) she showed me some stretches that I could do to help prevent it from tensing up again. Ever since I've been going to her and doing the stretches I have had HARDLY any problems with my lower back any more. Mariya is also very skilled in controlling pressure. I wasn't sure of the pressure I wanted so she started off lightly and put a little more on making sure I was still fully comfortable. I absolutely recommend Mariya, you have my word she is amazing! I haven't heard the pleasure of seeing and other massage therapist but with the small taste I've gotten so far I would HIGHLY recommend getting a massage at Sand Spa. read more

I was in desperate need of a facial.. my friend had recommended Sand Spa. I couldn't be more happier with my experience! Booking was simple. Right as I walked in I was greeted by the receptionist with a friendly welcome and then taken back by Joy. Joy was very informative about my skin and definitely took pride on making me "glow"! That she did! I got multiple compliments of how great my skin looked over the next few days. The owners really got a great organized well maintained establishment. I highly recommend this spa and I can't wait to book my next appointment! read more

I just wanted to take a minute to say what a great massage I had with Jerome. He was attentive, responsive and extremely skilled. I've had many massages in my day but Jerome is especially talented - you could tell from the moment the massage started that it was going to be amazing. I would see him again in a heartbeat. Thank you Jerome! read more

Aurora! She is so amazing. I book her for my facials and my husband's. I'm so happy to have found her.

My girlfriend and I scheduled a couples massage requesting two deep tissue massages. I received a Thai massage instead. It was unprofessionally done not just because the room wasn't equipped for a Thai massage that normally requires balancing props like a ceiling bar but as well as the person who was giving me a massage had no idea what she was doing. I'm really experienced with massages and deep tissue massages due to the fact I've been a professional athlete for 5 years, played pro soccer. A Deep tissue massage and a Thai massage are completely different. Days after, I started experiencing pain in my lower back, not good pain. That's why Thai massages usually require balancing props so the masseuse does not apply too much weight on your lower back and sensitive areas which is dangerous and I've had it happen to a point where I had to ask the masseuse to stop. Sand spa offered me and my Gf a free massage that they never scheduled for us after two weeks of waiting and trying to schedule it. They ended up completely ignoring us and my request for a refund. Not a big fan of leaving negative reviews but this one had to happen. read more

I'm literally sitting on the deck of Sand Spa right now staring at the ocean! I just got a 60 minute deep tissue massage from Mariya and it couldn't have been better. I carry a lot of stress in my neck and shoulders and she was really able to get in those muscles and alleviate the tightness and pain. Sitting at a desk all day really does a number on me. The spa itself is beautiful. The decor and colors they chose made the experience relaxing from the moment i walked in. The front desk was attentive and nice and she seemed to really enjoy what she does. The room was an extension of what I saw when I walked in. It was clean and comfortable. I will definitely be back sooner than later! read more

Just left this spot about 15 minutes ago, totally relaxed and at peace. Gabrielle gave me the best massage I've ever had. She listened to my concerns and addressed them so amazingly and skillfully. She is truly a talented masseuse and I highly recommend her. Emma is great for a deep tissue massage- the real thing! If you're an athlete or active, you should request her. I can't say enough about this place. Also, the facility was very clean and serene. read more

NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE! Horrible (non-existent) customer service. The owner and workers here need to learn about customer service, especially since they are in the service business! We received a call 7 minutes after our massage time and were told instead of rushing over, they could reschedule us for the following day so we "can enjoy the full massage". We thought this was great! Then we received a call 32 minutes later (after the time-slot for our massage ended) from the same girl saying she made a mistake (she was new), that she could not just reschedule us for the next day the way she did, and that she has to charge us in full. Mind you, this was HER mistake, not ours. We were able to come for our massage, but were told not to come! We asked to speak to someone, she said she can have the owner call us that night. The owner never called us. I called the following morning, and was told the owner will call me. The owner never called. I called again later that day, and again the following day, trying to get in touch with the owner, to no avail. I called the following week (today) and I was told they reviewed the call log, and it shows they called us after the massage time-slot was over, and based on this, the owner did not call us and will not refund the charges. This is unbelievable! First of all, the call they saw in their call log was the girl's second call saying she made a mistake and could not reschedule us, not the first call that was 7 minutes after our start time. I even offered to show my call log which shows every call ever made between me and the spa. Second of all, even if the owner incorrectly believed the first call was made after the time-slot was over, this is still NO excuse to not call a customer back, esp. after the customer has made several attempts to get in touch with you! What is worst is the girl's response today re why the owner has not called back: the owner is "too busy". It is not surprising the staff is this unprofessional when the owner is. Side note, the first time I walked in here, one of the staff members was outside smoking and fighting on the phone with her boyfriend. I should have known then this is not the right place for relaxation. read more

My wife and I came in for a couples massage and wow it was amazing. The front desk reservationists was attentive and highly knowledgeable. I have been going to their nail salon (Polish by Sand Spa) for a while now and while my mom was in town we decided to do a girls spa day. Sand Spa did not disappoint. Really surprised at how down market this "spa" is. Just to clarify - this is not a "spa". It is a very simple store front salon. Not relaxing or anything special. I booked and came for an oxygen facial. The technician said my skin was too dry for an oxygen facial and said I should get the hydro facial instead. It was only 25 min vs 70 min I had booked and more expensive and not very good. Very disappointing. Don't waste your money or time. read more

It was my first time ever getting a professional massage and Sand Spa Manhattan Beach keeps me wanting more! My masseuse was Rhonda and she was incredibly sweet and patient. I told her it was my first spa trip and she gave me a breakdown of what was gonna happen and she asked the specific areas I wanted to focus on (upper back) and she helped knead out knots and just make me feel super relaxed. I already am looking to book my next appointment and I am beyond excited. My boyfriend and I really want to make this a monthly visit. Love! read more

(3.5 stars) Super cute, boutique spa in the heart of Manhattan Beach. Relaxing, nice beach feel inside. I booked a couples massage here with my boyfriend for two deep issue massages. The massages were great, my masseur really got all of the knots out of my back and relieved the lower back pain I often have. The deep tissue massage was extremely relaxing, I almost fell asleep and wish the hour lasted way longer. The reason I'm giving them 3.5 stars is because of my boyfriends masseuse. When she and my masseur came to greet us in the waiting room, she proceeds to take my boyfriend into a private room when the reservation was for a couples massage. When I informed her of the error, she insisted it was our mistake instead of immediately fixing the problem since my appointment confirmation was for a couples massage. Already 1 strike. After she "confirmed" we were in fact correct, she leaves us in the couples room without saying whether we should change right away or not. She comes back, my boyfriend asks "should we change now?" She responds "well of course, duh." Stoke 2. Lady, no need for the attitude. Since all spas are different, we weren't sure whether to change right away or if she just left to continue setting up the room. Also, never when you are in the service industry should you reply to a paying customer with attitude. Let's just say my boyfriend didn't like that too much and made a remark I know she heard. I wish I could remember her name, but if you get an older Asian/Filipino lady who sounds like a man, she's rude. Lastly, while the facility was cute, the bathroom sinks seemed to have a bit of visible wear and tear on the sinks which I felt should be replaced in the near future. Minus the salty masseuse and restroom thing, I did have a nice experience and would consider going back. read more

Having already visited the Manhattan Beach location and coming away very impressed, I decided to try Sand Spa's new Hermosa Beach location to see if it was just as good. Here's my review: Upon entering the new Hermosa Beach location I immediately noticed how clean it was, just like the Manhattan Beach space. It was also beach branded as well, which was very nice. I talked to the receptionist, Joceline, who was very polite and professional. She answered all my questions and got me checked in quickly for my massage appointment. She also informed me that they were in their soft opening phase. I had a great massage experience at the Manhattan shop so I was hoping it would happen here as well. I got into my room, which was private and relaxing, and waited for my massage therapist to arrive. After a short wait, Liz knocked and came in. She was very pleasant. I explained what I was expecting and how I've had a lower back injury from my time in the Army and hoped that she could provide some relief. She told me she was certain that she could and off we went. After an hour deep tissue massage I left feeling amazing. My lower back was feeling a lot better and I felt rejuvenated. I left overly impressed, just as I had at the Manhattan Beach spa. I'm really excited to see what they do with this space after they really get up and running. If you are in the area, I highly recommend either location. You will NOT be disappointed. read more

I stumbled upon this boutique Day Spa while in the area for an event with my husband. I had time to pass and decided to see if I could get a brow and lip wax. I met JOY the esthetician. Afterwards we talked about my skin and so I decided to have a facial also. Mainly as it's been a few months since I had a facial and the prices were very reasonable. I have to say I have never experienced such a relaxing facial before. I kept going in and out of sleep Lol. Her touch was Amazing. The results were amazing too! It felt and looked like a very expensive facial. I'm in the Valley area but I'll be back here for sure. Thank you JOY! read more

I made an appointment here while we were staying on our honeymoon in LA. The travel and bed left my back wrecked. After sorting through reviews I can across this little slice of heaven! Immediately made an appointment the next day through yelp. It is a beautiful and relaxing location. My deep tissue massage was outstanding and I would book over and over again!! My massage therapist was amazing, he took the time to really work on a rough area of my shoulders and I know he was as sore as I was after. Thank you so much for the relief!! read more

This place is killing it! I went in there for my birthday to get a massage that my wife had set up for me. Because she felt bad about being gone on my birthday, she told the staff what was happening. Sand Spa - Waiting area! Super cute and comfy! - Massage Near Me - Manhattan Beach, California

This really isn't a spa but a small waiting room and then you get led into a private room. My partner and I scheduled a couples massage (I personally had Maria and she was fabulous and she alone would have gotten 4-5 stars) but my partner had another therapist and she forgot to do one side of the arm-- when you're paying for $100 massage and you forget the other side and felt rushed because timing wasn't right, it doesn't leave a great feeling in the end. Also they don't communicate well and information wasn't super clear. My appointment "cost" was changed twice without explanation and only via email through an automated message. We also were charged for a special that included champagne that wasn't offered but got charged more than that package. All in all, it left a bad taste in my mouth with how a lot of things were handled. Would not recommend or come again. read more

I purchased the 90 min deep tissue couples massage for my girlfriends bday. We were visiting from Miami, so I relied heavily on yelp reviews. The reviews were so good that i was somewhat skeptical, buy Sand Spa delivers. Gretchen was super accommodating and Robin gave me the best massage of my life. Absolutely love this place! I've been an athlete all my life with ongoing back problems but every time I go to Sand Spa I walk out relaxed and with an extra bounce in my step! The staff is always welcoming and attentive from the moment you walk in, making sure to focus on any problem areas there might be. The spa is always clean and has a great vibe as well. I treated myself and my friend to a massage (we each were able to "customize" the type of massage we wanted), letting our masseuse know which points to really focus on and the type of pressure we would like. Pros: Friendly staff. Prices are reasonable and they do have specials if you want to save a few $$. Knots beware: This is my first time so my back had quite a few knots, Robin did an outstanding job rubbing them out. Clean and efficient for limited space they have. Cons: Parking, recommend getting there a little early so you can find parking. There is a parking structure a few blocks away. Note: this is not the business fault just the location. read more

This is such a great gem in the Manhattan Beach neighborhood! It is so easy to book a massage through their online portal, and they are very accommodating when it comes to booking a massage last minute (which I have done in the past!) I've had a number of massages here, and each masseuse has been great. They are all very respectful and really listen when you tell them which parts of your body you want them to focus on.
