It was my birthday and I decided to book a last minute massage with Cedric. I had met him at open house and he's such a nice therapist. He really listens and gives the best massage. I highly recommend him! The spa is clean and they have a nice outdoor sitting area, but the locker rooms are small. Fortunately, it was not crowded during my visit. It was nice but, I was expecting something much nicer and upscale. There's still very little areas to lounge. Also the guest robes are too small! First time visiting this place and I had the best time! First off the place is incredibly clean, and accommodating. They have robes, slippers, showers, lockers, water, etc. Secondly the staff is so warm and welcoming! They go above and beyond to make sure you're taken care of and that is always something to strive for when coming to a spa! I received a Brazilian face + body Lymphatic massage from gislane and she was terrific. I must warn you though. If you do not have a high tolerance for pain do not choose this service. I was in pain and had bruises all over my stomach afterwards which they said was normal. It's not a service I would do again just because it was pretty aggressive for my taste but it definitely might be your cup of tea! I also did the Co2 facial with Amanda who was amazing as well! My skin felt so hydrated and supple afterwards. Lastly the Receptionist Mariela was friendly and super helpful when it came to helping me with my parking concerns! I had the very best EVER massage with Tunde today. She was awesome! The ladies at the front (Clarissa and oooohhhh I think it's close to Maryellen but I know that's wrong! Sorry!!!) are so welcoming and helpful! I already made my return appointment and see this being part of my self-care routine!! New location review: As others have mentioned: I had high hopes for the new location, but it really fell short. Overall much smaller, no longer good for groups, girlfriend catch ups, going early to enjoy the amenities cause there really are no more amenities. I get these areas I miss from the old location are not money making areas and every square inch counts at the beach, but they were why I chose Trilogy over other spas. Locker room: smaller lockers that are stacked, so hopefully no one needs to use the other lockers in your row while you are in there, cause there really is no place to move your stuff to, easily get out of the way. I liked being able to use/sample the Trilogy branded products which did lead to purchasing at the prior location but nope, those are gone. Couldn't find washcloths nor shave cream even though razors and shower caps are still provided. No more waterfall shower, soaking tubs, sauna. Do they really get enough men to have a men's locker room when the new space is already limited. Hope so. Waiting areas: see pictures: outdoor deck is just along building's side, really just for waiting, not catching up, lounging, chatting with others as talking imposes on others also waiting. I did ask if you can still bring in drinks and snacks out there and they said yes but after seeing the set up - never mind. The indoor waiting area is in the lobby as others mentioned, not really relaxing with the comings and goings. Service rooms: bigger once back there then I thought, can tell they customized the build out with in wall candle areas, little touches that are nice but I am not really spending lots of time back there with my eyes open. Same for other small touches, finish options such as materials used, not sure the investment in an area guests are just passing through is worth it. Service: I only recognized one name from the previous location and unfortunately she was not available. My deep tissue massage was meh. The check out process was painful, slow, only two tip options: cash ( no change available) and Venmo. As a service based place, I expect all paying options to be available: all apps (cash app, zelle, PayPal, etc.) and change for cash. I get it is more for the biz to deal with but a spa is about the guests convenience and experience. In summary: less amenities, less space, the front desk still seems disorganized (see previous review + I waited a few months after the new location opened to go in hopes the kinks would be worked out, staff trained) + the drastic increase in pricing = pass. I've been going to this place for at least 12 years. The facialists and masseuses have all been great. I specifically ask gift givers for gift certificates here because I generally cannot afford their services myself. From the very first appointment, they have said that they keep track of the gift certificate money on your account. I generally call, ask how much I have, then schedule a service. I recently called to make an appointment (to treat myself for my birthday) and was told they "changed systems and lost all the information, including gift certificates." I don't have the cards or know how much is left because again, they always kept track and told me not to worry. I believe I had enough one, if not two, massages. The person on the phone was unapologetic. I asked to speak to the manager. They were not present and I was told someone would call me. No one ever did. I'm upset and honestly shocked at how poorly they treat their longtime customers. Definitely don't get a gift card for someone from here because they may change systems again and then that person will lose their gift, especially if they are someone who saves massages for special occasions instead of using the money right away. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and filing a complaint with the district attorney's office. Had they tried to rectify the situation, I'd let it slide, but as a business owner myself, this is simply inexcusable. Sad to lose my go-to spot, but their customer service is non existent. read more

I wish I'd taken the time to take before and after photos of my facial because it was that amazing! I have very sensitive skin and am allergic to basically everything so I was a little nervous about getting a facial after staying away from them for over 5 years. The facial I had here was INCREDIBLE. The esthetician was very receptive to my concerns and every product she put on my face was carefully chosen to ensure I wouldn't have any reaction to them. From the moment I walked into the spa until the moment I left I was relaxed. The receptionist was attentive, knowledgeable on products, very welcoming, and guided me on exactly what to do. The space smelled amazing and was so perfect and intimate. The changing rooms were fully stocked and the location is pretty hard to beat. Came here with a group of 7 girls as part of a bachelorette party and I cannot say enough great things! Once we were checked in, we got a tour of the space and ended up on their rooftop patio where we had our reserved space. Even though we only had a reserved space for 2 hrs, they let us go to the space 30 minutes early and let us stay as long as we wanted after, but we just weren't guaranteed that space outside of the time. We never felt rushed or anything to leave though. We were all able to do our treatment at the same time which was nice so we could all hang out together after. We brought our own drinks and snacks but they help us set up nicely and even had ice buckets for the champagne and orange juice and platters for our cheese and crackers. I got the trilogy massage and it was wonderful! It was a full body massage on a heated table and my masseuse was a little chatty but I didn't mind. She was very nice. Once we were all done, we could use their changing room to shower with the complimentary sugar scrub and some of the girls even took a bath in their nice tubs. I visited the new Trilogy location yesterday. I'd been saving a gift card to use once they reopened in their new location. Unfortunately, overall I was a bit disappointed and miss the old Trilogy. I booked the spa facial, which was nice and my technician was friendly, but it started 10 minutes late and ended right on time. 40 minutes wasn't really worth $155. I also tried the infrared body roller. I didn't realize it was self service when I booked it. Not sure that was worth $65 for 30 minutes. The spa itself was clean, but fairly small and a bit odd of a layout with the men's and women's locker rooms right next to each other and the lounge being basically in the lobby. I used to love going to Trilogy and previously had amazing experiences, but this was lacking. read more

I want to rate this place higher but I'm just frustrated and feel lied to -- not sure why, maybe to accommodate their schedule for the day? Anyway. I booked two services each for my friend and I to celebrate my birthday. We booked a month ago. The day before our appointments I get a voicemail from someone at the salon (Kim) to tell me "the appointment you booked is wrong" - She goes on to explain the Vitamin C + Pumpkin Ice XPress Peel is only an "add-on" service and cannot be booked alone. Which is really confusing because: A - it's listed totally on it own on their booking site, as described as a quick, no frills peel (pic included) B - the service she's saying it can be added to already includes a peel? C - I have actually gotten this same service at this exact same location before ... ?!?!? D - Now I come on Yelp & I see people have left reviews for this exact same service E - all other add-ons listed on the site are extremely clear they are add-on services I call back, thinking meh, I'll explain -- maybe she's mistaken about something. To which I was met with lovely phrases such as "you booked wrong" "your interpretation of the site is wrong" "I feel bad you thought you were getting a peel, and you're not" "I don't have anyone who can do that" -- and then those services are cancelled. No offer of any kind of accommodation for the inconvenience-- literally not one iota of genuine apology. Had they called and acted like this a month ago, I would have found another spa. I don't do these kind of things often & I don't need a massage with a side of being talked to like I'm an idiot. But alas they called the day before so we had to go for the massages. I got a prenatal & my friend got the White Ginger and they both were pretty good. But then I see the printed "menu" of services as the front and see that the XPress Peel, again, is listed as its own service. So I asked the girls at the front, to get a second opinion. As they begin to answer "I think s---" out pops Kim and keeps the same energy "you cannot get this service alone" I remind her that I actually have and she says "I don't know who did that for you but your skin must be prepped before" .. I really didn't feel like battling with her but it really left a salty taste in my mouth for the whole experience. read more

Extremely disappointed!! My sister and I got treatments here and were very dissatisfied with our entire experience. The "sauna" they advertise is a little at home sauna that barely fits 2 people and doesn't work half the time. I got a hydrafacial and she spent 1/3 of the time working on my nose and it's still incredibly congested. My skin is irritated and red and uncomfortable. My sister got the Korean facial and they didn't even wash her face!! They then put on a mask and left it on for 45 minutes. I'm not exactly sure what we're paying for?? Just ok. I have been going here for facials. In general they are ok but my complain has to do with the amount of time they spent on scalp and shoulder massage, way too long; which leaves too little time for the actual facial. I normally do the deluxe to allow enough time but still too little time spent on the face. I don't want to complain to the aesthetician because they take things too personal and get upset. I have done that at other spas and things don't end up well. I am paying for my face to get cleanse and treat it. I don't want a 30 min scalp and shoulder massage. What a total gem in the hood! From start to finish, I was hooked. A snafu in scheduling due to someone having to deal with an emergency...no one's fault, but it was a problem as I was taking my mom for her birthday. Well, let's just say - WE ARE HOOKED! From the greeting when we got there to the interesting body machines, and the serene surroundings. It was intimate, relaxing and lovely. Didn't even realize I was in DTMB. My thoughtful husband booked my massage as a surprise birthday present and I'm very happy to share that it was a very pleasant experience. But most of all, my masseuse Rochelle was absolutely fantastic!! She is so dedicated to her craft and performed a very thorough massage to rid my body of all the built up tension and stress after such a long and difficult time experienced during this pandemic. Beautiful spa! The rooftop lounge area is breathtaking. There is complimentary fresh fruit, tea and water for your pleasure while you wait for your therapist or after your service during relaxation time. My massage was extremely calming; so much that I fell asleep lol.. When I awaken I felt renewed. I usually enjoy all amenities when I have a spa day; like to get my money's worth. I took a nice hot shower after my massage (the salt scrub was awesome). I went to lay out on the rooftop and fell asleep again while munching on orange slices, I returned indoors to take advantage of the sauna. Lastly, I took a warm bath in the deep stone shower tub. There's a full salon on the first level as well if you should need a hairdo spruce up. Can't wait until I'm back in Manhattan Beach so I can schedule my next Trilogy day. read more

Edit: they did call to apologize. There was a temp check and staff were wearing masks. Apparently face shields are used during services. Masks are not enforced for customers as there was a man coughing repeatedly with no mask on. A staff member was chatting with him and did not ask him to put his mask on. I waited about 15-20 minutes for my massage therapist to call me in to the rooftop room, but nobody came to get me. I eventually called the front desk to see what was happening and she informed me my massage therapist didn't show up to work and wasn't answering her calls. Unclear why nobody thought to tell me this before i drove to the spa or before i waited 15 min to call them from their own roof. Afterwards, I hung out on the day bed (which on this day was reserved for my friends birthday) and we lounged around in our robes while drinking the guava mimosas we brought for our party. For the remainder of the time, we took advantage of all the other amenities that were available to us: a soak in the bubble bath, relaxing in the sauna, a rinse in the waterfall shower... We even used all the products that were available to us! The body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and my favorite: mango coconut sugar scrub! Mmmm... ;) Be sure to use the matching scented lotion too! I had high hopes for the new location, but it really fell short. The layout is odd, the changing rooms require that you walk through the lobby to get to the massage rooms. Just thought that was strange. If you want to sit and relax you need to sit in the lobby/checkin area. Again very strange and not modest whatsoever. I'm no prude but there is t anywhere to relax. My friends and I used to sit out on the Sun deck. There is a very small outdoor area but nothing like it was before. There are virtually no amenities anymore- just a shower with shampoo/conditioner/wash. I missed the soaking tubs and sauna that the old trilogy had, no razor blades, lotions, shower caps, scrubs etc. . With the drastic increase in pricing I thought there would be more to do. The massage itself was lovely and front desk personnel were friendly and courteous but I'm not sure I'll return. There weren't even towels to dry your hands in the restroom, which I did point out and hopefully the fixed that after I left. read more

This place is my jam! I discovered it when I had a very long layover at LAX after flying from South America and needed a shower. I could get a massage for the same price as a hotel room so I figured why not. Thank goodness I did! Ted is amazing at massages and the facilities are wonderful. Soaking tubs, a sun deck with beds to lay out on, rain showers, and a sauna all rank this spa above others. Do not miss it, I could spend hours here. This place used to be top-notch. I'm sure Covid has had its impact on the staff and operations, but I was shocked at how much the service and facilities have gone downhill. 1. They have removed almost all amenities from the locker rooms. You're left with a single blow dryer that only plugs into a far wall, away from a mirror. Two of the three outlets in the prep room do not even work. 2. When you come into the lobby, the staff seems pretty disinterested in you and more interested in their gossip conversations. And then doesn't walk you upstairs to show you around. 3. The music in the massage rooms was awful the last 3 times I've been there. I thought it was maybe a one-off, but it's almost like you're listening to static - no nature sounds, no volume, no actual tuned-in music or sounds. 4. They no longer use the heating pad on the therapy tables and I was so cold at my last several appointments that I couldn't relax my muscles enough to enjoy my massage. My poor masseuse's hands were also freezing, not helping the situation. 5. There is no longer spa-quality shampoo/conditioner/body soap/sugar scrub in the showers. Just very low-quality amenities in a partially cleaned shower. I will be opting for a different place moving forward. Given the amount of money Trilogy charges for their services, I would hope they could address the above items, but after three strikes, I'm out. read more
