My mom has been receiving care from this Dermatology office for almost two years. They were able to detect cancerous and pre-cancerous skin issues and quickly treat it. They Put Patients Last I've been a patient here for years, and when I booked this appointment I learned my doctor was no longer with the practice. I still tried to give it a chance, but it didn't work out. From the start, the booking representative seemed uninformed -- unsure which services were available or which providers performed certain procedures. During my visit, despite scheduling ample time off work, I never saw the doctor. I waited nearly an hour in a back room with no updates and no staff checking in. There wasn't cell service either, so while I'd taken off work I couldn't make up for that missed time by doing anything remote. I ultimately walked out and found a staff member who said there wa no way of knowing how much longer but I had 2 patients ahead of me and that the doctor was typically slow. I couldn't wait around to see if maybe I could see the doctor and had to leave to finish work & school pick up. A friend was there the same day and had the exact same experience. The waiting room was packed, the staff seemed overwhelmed, and communication was nonexistent. The delays were treated like my problem, not the office's, and it was clear that patients' time isn't valued. I can't recommend this place to anyone who needs professional care, reliability, or has other responsibilities to juggle. read more

This used to be a great place, and I will say the team in the front office are wonderful people (Juana is a rockstar!). But the practice recently made the unfortunate decision to outsource their billing to an incompetent group of people who offer zero help. I was significantly overcharged on different visits and had to get my insurance company to break everything down for me since you can no longer reach anyone at the local office when you request billing. I spent hours on the phone on multiple occasions talking to a call center (almost certain it is another country for numerous reasons) that is completely unhelpful, won't return calls, and won't follow up. The first time I called I was simply told, "We've had problems with patients being overbilled lately and you're due a refund" but nothing was ever done (there's a great business practice-- just do nothing when you've knowingly overcollected from patients and make it impossible for them to get any help), and on subsequent calls other agents with whom I spoke had no notation I had ever been told that. The last time I called the person with whom I spoke wouldn't even give me his name. For patients who entrusted themselves to this practice and then are overcharged with no way to get their situation remedied is completely unacceptable. I could not be more frustrated about the hours I have spent trying to get my money back when, all along, the problem was not in any way my doing. My family has been coming to El Segundo Dermatology for the past 4 years but will not be returning. No patient deserves to be treated this way and whoever made the shortsighted decision to basically eliminate any way for patients to reconcile billing problems has essentially decided to sabotage this once-great clinic. read more

I went to El segundo in Early July -they had no doctors only PA's/I should have left then. They found nothing. I found my trusty doctor who was with el Segundo who removed a spot on my nose and a cancerous spot on my left leg which I'm being treated for. What a disappointment ! I'm on a 6 month schedule. Trying to get a prescription filled or even speak to any individual in the office is one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do. To get someone to even respond to me I've had to call 5+ on one day. They then somehow sent my prescription to the wrong pharmacy which then prompted me to call that pharmacy and cancel just to get it sent to the correct one. When calling to schedule an appointment or even ask a question you are directed to someone out of state, RIDICULOUS! Not to mention the wait to actually see the doctor is longer than actually seeing the doctor. I've waited in the lobby around 20 mins and usually only see/talk to my doctor for about 5 mins. Would definitely not recommend this office to family or friends. read more

I went in for a skin cancer check back in beginning of July. The doctor removed a small piece of skin for biopsy, but I didn't hear back with my results until October and they were positive. Which I was in shock for the lack of communication. Please note that I have been there many times, did the same procedure twice and know exactly how everything is supposed to be communicated. Once my insurance approved the procedure, I called to schedule surgery. I received the confirmation paperwork in the mail, but the person who handles surgery scheduling was never available. I left messages, got one call back while I was busy, and returned the call within an hour, left another message, only to never hear back again. The day after (today), I called multiple times. One of the operators, Angel, put me on hold for 15 minutes and never came back to the line. I had to hung up and call again, the operator Angel, gave me a lame excuse, I had to insist to be transferred to the right person, this operator (didn't get her name) was trying to excuse herself as well because of her lack of communication and tried to tell me that she didn't have my authorization and that is the reason I was not called back. Lie lie lie, I had the authorization in the mail, they receive through email!!! To worsen the situation the earliest surgery date would be mid-January. It's been over six months since the initial biopsy, and this kind of delay and lack of follow-through for something as serious as skin cancer is unacceptable. I've had procedures here before with Dr. K, who is amazing. But the staff's poor communication and lack of responsibility completely ruined my confidence in this clinic. Because of that, I've decided to take my care elsewhere. I hope the doctors realize how much their staff is hurting their reputation. read more

I came to this office with the understanding that, like many medical practices, it operates as a business where billing often seems to take priority over patient care. I had an appointment to address a skin rash, and after the visit, the front office called to inform me about the results of a sample they took, describing it as a unique condition that has become more common post-COVID. The doctor requested a follow-up appointment. After driving all the way from Orange County and waiting 20 minutes, the doctor finally arrived only to repeat, nearly word for word, what the front office had already told me. The entire interaction lasted no more than 10 minutes. Dr Azimi then prescribed a treatment that would manage the condition rather than cure it, reinforcing the unfortunate reality that ongoing treatments often seem more profitable than actual solutions. This experience left me questioning the priorities of the medical industry, and sadly, this office exemplifies that frustration. read more

Front desk staff were rude, and policies are unreasonable. The front desk ladies canceled my appointment because they had my old insurance information that was inactive. They could've called and asked for updated insurance, instead they just canceled my appointment that I had been waiting months for. I still showed up because I didn't get their message, and they turned me away. This has happened more than once that they have canceled my appointment with no follow up. It takes forever to get into the office for an appointment, usually it's at least a month wait. My husband also had a terrible experience with the front desk. I will not be going back. read more

This was my go to dermatologist for over 10 years to say that their office managerial staff is ruthless is an understatement. I have had skin cancer and psoriasis and the doctors here have been more than courteous, professional, and thorough but once you have an office manager that ask more like a mafia don. Wait times were crazy: I spent just about an hour after arriving for my last appointment on time for my doctor to see me. Since I wrote that last review, the MD contacted me and met me that day. Turns out there was a glitch in the phone system for some reason which prevented their normal after-care customer service from receiving or responding to any of my calls. They apologized profusely, administered a full check-up, prescribed an antibiotic treatment which worked very well, and even gave me samples of sunscreen, lotions and gentle cleansing products. I felt heard and understood. Apparently, due to the extensive sun damage I had this was more painful than normal, but the results have proven worth the pain and suffering. I just wish I had known the full extent of what this would entail and they have assured me they will do so for future patients considering anything similar. I'm very grateful and content with how they handled this once the situation was brought to their attention. My PA has been very gracious and worked around some insurance issues to allow me to be seen and treated by her prior to this being resolved which made me feel like a valued client. I really do like the office, what services they provide and haven't had any reason for any complaints since this one isolated incident. I've been going here for over a year and should have written a nice review initially because the office is beautiful, the wait-time is never long, they follow health protocols and you're treated well when in their offices. I especially appreciated how the billing department courteously worked with me to handle everything and give a big shout-out to Christina and Eve. They work hard and do right by their clients. Thank you Ladies! Very happy with my new and improved skin. Now to preserve it by earing sunscreen and getting regular checkups so I never have to have this treatment ever again!:) read more

If you got a referral to go here like I did, I recommend you schedule another appointment with your doctor and ask then if there are any other dermatologists in network with your insurance. There was an issue with my insurance and I received a surprise bull for $600+ nine months after I had a lip biopsy and after they looked at my hairline. As infuriating as this was, this was ultimately my fault as I had changed my primary care provider without telling them. However, what happened next was inexcusable and entirely their fault. I got another referral from the right doctor who was in network with them after my lip biopsy because I needed to have it checked to make sure it healed properly. However, they canceled my appointment after the issue with my insurance and after I got the right referral, they ignored me. I called time and time again, even reading out the full referral code for them so they could check for themselves, but they never responded to me on any way shape or form except for sending a bill nine months after. Thankfully, my lip healed properly on its own. Or at least, I'm pretty sure it has. I don't know for certain because I was not able to get a post biopsy appointment with them. I cannot believe I was treated this way. I had placed myself in their care and they neglected and ignored me. I slipped through the cracks. I really don't think that this was because of malice. I think it was either because of either sheer incompetent or because they simply did not care. I highly recommend you go somewhere where you feel your medical caretakers care about you. That was not the experience I had here. I am very lucky that I healed after my biopsy without needing them. Do you feel lucky? read more

This is my second time here for the same lymphoma excision. The first time I had it done with Zachary Johnson and was told everything will be good. 6 month later the issue came back.... I set an appointment and arrived after 11 minutes of my appointment time just to be told he had to reschedule my appointment. I was informed that you need arrive 15 minutes early for surgeries. However the appointment reminder that was set did not state that. This was very inconvenient. I got a call from the doctor and office saying they will be working to fix this issue for the future. The front desk Rep(Steph) was very rude that day. I understand if you are having a bad day but that's not an excuse to be rude to clients. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Merati for a few months now as a patient and it has been a great experience. I had terrible cystic acne years ago that left me with scarring, and she's been able to use the right lasers with minimal pain and downtime to clear my skin. My face wasn't even red a full 48 hours from her skill. She's the first and only person I trusted to try Dysport/Botox with, and I really appreciated that she didn't try to oversell me on extra units that wasn't needed, or have me not looking like myself after it. My face looks softer now and I don't see my wrinkles on pictures or feel as self conscious. She's really easy to talk to and really broke things down well. I'm excited to keep coming back! The office itself is gorgeous with plenty (free) parking available, a huge waiting room, and relaxing ambiance. read more

I had an appointment for a consultation for 2 different procedures. During my appointment, they told me that they don't do procedure A, and I was not scheduled to have a consultation for procedure B. I told them, "Yes, I am scheduled to have a consultation for both A and B. I confirmed this over the phone. Why did you bring me in here for this appointment if you don't do procedure A and now you can't even consult with me on procedure B? They responded , if you wanted to have a consultation regarding procedure B, you would've needed to pay $200". That was the first time they said anything about that , and they didn't give me an option to even pay it at that time. At that moment, the doctor just walked out of the room without saying anything. I was confused as I still had more questions, and the doctor just left without asking me if I have any more questions. The assistant was still there, so I told the assistant I have more questions for the doctor, but the assistant could not get the doctor back. So essentially, they brought me in for an appointment and wasted my time for no reason at all except to charge my insurance for the visit in which they did nothing for me, and brought me in when they don't even do procedure A and bullshitted me about procedure B. I was explicit on the phone when I schedule the appointment for A and B as well. Horrible, horrible people that essentially stole money from my insurance for this visit, and wasted my time. And F- for customer service. Go rot in hell. read more

Filled out an online form inquiring about being a new patient and got a phone call the next day! I was at work unfortunately and missed the call, and when I tried calling back, I didn't get an answer. I never get a call back after that, so that's one of the reasons why I wouldn't give 5 stars. Although I had a great experience when I came in person to schedule my first appointment and pick up my new patient forms, I ended up waiting 23 minutes when I showed up to my appointment. It seemed like other people didn't have a problem waiting that long, so I figured the service and treatment you get here would really be worth it. I saw a PA for my eczema/atopic dermatitis/dry skin and because I've gone through a lot of specialty doctors and treatments, I was already familiar with my diagnosis and what I needed. The PA and I discussed for less than 5 minutes and I was out the door with some new prescriptions. The PA barely looked at my skin, and I was okay with this because I got what I came for, but I can easily see how this could be an issue for others, feeling like the doctor or whoever didn't really care or give them quality treatment. All in all, my experience is a solid 4 stars, and I think that others might easily see it as less, which is why I wanted to share! read more

I went to see the doctor 3 times and he hasn't been able to "Fix" my problem, yet I have to pay for every visit I have had with him even if it was a follow up visit, got tired of that so I went to see another doctor and he fixed my problem in just one visit. Another thing is that even if you request not to have more people in the room but the doctor, they don't do it, you have to share your problem with many people even if you're not comfortable doing that. read more

Do not go here! Derm procedures were not bandaged professionally! ADHESIVE TAPE was put across open wounds by PA with her fingers! Bandages with absorbent STERILE covering should've been applied! By the time I got home my arm had bled thru the tape, down my arm, staining my jacket which is ruined. It was necessary to remove the bloody leaking tape and replace with proper bandages. Calling the office expressing my concerns I'm told they DO use bandages. ??? Why was I treated differently? I asked for a manager to review & call me back. No one did. I had other derm issues that needed care. I was incorrectly informed by PA that "If we start cutting things off and submitting & it's NOT cancer, you will have to pay". ??? Confirming with my insurance, they said that's ridiculous and not true! I need a professional dermatologist, not one who uses tape and lies. read more

Absolutely awful experience every time. I've been seen roughly 6 times in 12 months for acne and this office is truly a joke of a business. The front desk staff; there's 4-6 of them at any given time and yet they never answer the phones. Goes to voicemail every time. They act like they're doing you a favor when they do answer. Incorrect lab codes are always ordered and LabCorp office in Manhattan Beach told me this happens daily with patients from El Segundo Dermatology. Sorry excuse of a doctors office. The final straw for me: I signed up for accutane at the doctors insistence. Waited 1 month per the rules of the medication, I went in to be seen and get my script. He spent 3 minutes with me and said: looks good. Let's do the same. His MA had to tell him I was there for accutane and he said "why"? I get you see a lot of patients. But that is what your chart notes are for. You are simply a copay mule for these doctors. Make you come in all the time, but they never offer solutions outside of their $5k laser. There are too many good doctors to settle for this mediocrity. read more

Today I went there again to see if they provide laser skin correction, and the rude, cold, and unfriendly receptionist told me that the consultation would be $200. When I asked if it would be refundable if the doctor determined she/he couldn't fix my problem, she said NO. So, either this receptionist has no clue what she's talking about, or this place has become not so pleasant since the last time I was there. Courtney Philips is great! She really listened to my problems; I had come from a different dermatology office where the experience was terrible. She is empathetic, and this office in general runs its schedule well. I never have to wait very long at all! However, I'm NOT pleased with how Zachary Johnson conducted the analysis of my patch testing. Because this test was on my back, obviously i cannot see the results myself. They took photos on Day 3 and Day 5. On Day 5, he only gave me a list of 2 things that i "had a reaction" to. But on Day 3, there were more than 2... So I had to ask the nurse to print out the additional items from Day 3 that gave me a reaction. Why did he just ignore the results from Day 3? i want to know ALL the things i am reactive to, even if it is just mild... When i got home, i noticed that i still had some itching on my back, even after showering... i tried to crane my neck around to look in the mirror & turns out the itchy red spots were NOT EVEN one of the 4 items they told me i was allergic to!!! This tells me that Zach did not look very closely , or did not care about "attention to detail" when doing the patch readings.. My BIGGEST GRIPE about this office is that they dont have a Patient Portal. This is standard at most Dr. offices, so i cant access my results / the photos they took of the Patch Testing...They also dont email you (even after i filled out a Release Request), because apparently "e-mail is not secure, and it's a violation of HIPAA *if* your email gets hacked". They could ONLY send me printed copies by Snail Mail. The photos were 150px wide and super blurry, i couldnt tell anything. TOTALLY USELESS. It's 2021! As long as you're not an idiot, email is very secure. The likelihood of my e-mail getting hacked is just as much as someone stealing mail from my mailbox. I'm frustrated that it's been so difficult to get my results. I just want to be able to see a high-res image of my reactions. They have the photos on an iPad. I even asked if there were any other options (like Airdrop, text, even forwarding through the EMR to my PCP's office, who uses MyChart, so i get all my results from my PCP thru that -- but nothing). Can only do Snail Mail. So after calling back & forth about this issue, they said they can re-print the images to be bigger & re-send them to me via Snail Mail... Not ideal, but at least they are trying lol. Side note: the nurse who took the pics was not very accurate and there's literally part of the results cut off/you cant even see! Just lazy photographing. So, besides the fact that you cant get any results / info about your visits - the staff is nice, and Courtney Philips is great. read more

Be prepared for a lot of headaches with this place. The front staff messed up by insurance 3 times, mixed up appointments, cancelled appointments minutes before they started and was SO disorganized! There are lots of staff at the front desk but its run so inefficiently. When I mentioned something the staff about how they had mixed things up with my insurance, they acted like it was the first mistake that had ever heard of at the office ever...overly exaggerating themselves even though it was just a remark not a complaint. The doctor was only ok, they never didn't give me ANY after care instructions even when I asked and one of procedure left to lots of pain and misery for me for weeks because it wasn't performed properly. They don't seem very sensitive to the patient. Additionally they WILL treat you differently depending on your socio economic status and there is no hiding it. Generally I'd say their "pretty office" is the best part about them, so if that's what you are looking for.... read more

I have been a patient at El Segundo Derm for several years and the care is consistently exceptional. The providers have great bedside manner and appointments are always thorough yet efficient. Dr. Azimi is an expert injector - I had the best experience getting cheek filler for the first time and the results blew me away. By sculpting my cheekbones subtly, he diminished deep smile lines that bothered me. I am normally very squeamish (zero pain tolerance and blood/needles freak me out) but his attention to detail and gentle nature truly put me at ease. Dr. Azimi listened to my aesthetic goals, gave appropriate recommendations and delivered insane results. Zac is another expert provider and my go-to for acne, lasers and all things Botox. I see him for Pico laser once per quarter which has made a huge improvement to my skin's tone and texture. Over the course of several treatments, Botox masseter injections have slimmed my lower face, enhancing my overall face structure. Zac also identified several pre-cancers during skin check visits. Again, these guys have incredible attention to detail. This office has the best dermatology providers in LA. Highly recommend for your medical & cosmetic needs! read more
