I already use the parking app in other places, so pre-paying for the number of hours we planned to stay was a breeze. I did see a few people struggling with the payment machines, though. One thing to keep in mind is that I can see the parking lot filling up very easily during peak season, so getting there early is probably a good idea. The beach is just a few steps from the parking lot, and the white sand, clear water, and calm waves made for a great beach day. There are plenty of places nearby to rent beach equipment, although we brought our own. There's also plenty of space to spread out and set up your things. Pier 60 was definitely worth the trip, and it's a beach I plan to return to. We even extended our parking to stay longer!

The Gulf was is so beautiful at this time of the day , the breeze felt soft against our skin, and the fine white sand stretched endlessly beneath our feet. My mother is in her 80s now, and as we walked slowly together along the shoreline, I found myself thinking quietly... how many more days... months... or years do I have left with her? Life is so precious. Time moves faster than we all realize. Being able to spend quality time with my mother is a rare and precious gift.. moments like this at the beautiful ocean with the sound of the waves crashing along the shoreline... the warmth of the sunset wrapping us with tactile and visible heat .. "There was a moment when Moses had the nerve to ask God what his name is. God was gracious enough to answer, and the name he gave is recorded in the original Hebrew as YHWH. Over time, we've arbitrarily added an "a" and an "e" in there to get YaHWeH, presumably because we have a preference for vowels. But scholars and Rabbi's have noted that the letters YHWH represent breathing sounds, or aspirated consonants. When pronounced without intervening vowels, it actually sounds like breathing. YH (inhale) ~ WH (exhale) So a baby's first cry, his first breath, speaks the name of God. A deep sigh calls His name - or a groan or gasp that is too heavy for mere words. Even an atheist would speak His name, unaware that their very breath is giving constant acknowledgment to God. Likewise, a person leaves this Earth with their last breath, when God's name is no longer filling their lungs. Being alive means I speak His name constantly. In sadness, we breathe heavy sighs. In joy, our lungs feel almost as though they'll burst. In fear, we hold our breath, and we often have to be reminded to breathe again in order to help us calm down. When we're about to do something challenging, we take a deep breath to source our courage. When you think about it, breathing is giving him praise. Even in the most difficult moments. God chose to give himself a name that we can't help but speak in every moment that we're alive." All of us, everyone, everywhere forever walking, sleeping, breathing, with the Breathtakingly beautiful name of God on our lips. Nothing fancy, but clean. You do have to pay $2/hr to park here. And it is a little annoying to have to walk your ticket back to your car to display it on your dashboard. But you'll get over it quickly. You're at the beach, for Pete's sake! You can pay with cash or card. The beach is clean and the access/park area is also nicely kept. Outdoor showers are available to rinse the sand off. There are also many benches to sit and enjoy the view. Riptides are common in this area and I also find much of this strip of beach to be rocky and just not the best place if you want to get in and enjoy the water. So swim at your own risk. Also, the seagulls are quite aggressive in this area. There are a high amount of vacation rentals in this strip of beach and many people irresponsibly feed the birds. So they will attack you in large flocks and steal things right from your hands. We moved twice because of people close to us feeding the gulls. My daughter pulled out a baggie that had non food items and the seagulls attacked her and stole the bag, thinking they were stealing food. Not my favorite beach access in the area, but it's fine for a nice walk. With the high amount of people vacaying in the area and the gangster seagulls, it's not the best spot to lay on the beach for some peaceful beach relaxing.

Abu Seba Beach is a top secret hidden beach without any visible signage from Gulf Boulevard that…read moreI've passed a million times without knowing it was there! None of my friends have heard of Abu Seba Beach and it's a great name to drop for the local who thinks they've done it all. Imagine my surprise when I did a search for beaches on Google maps and found this gem! If you want to impress a beach bum that's been to every beach in the Tampa Bay area, ask them if they've been to Clearwater Point Beach or Abu Seba Beach! Abu Seba Beach is located on Sand Key, across the street from Sand Key Park on the Intercoastal waterway next to the Clearwater Community Sailing Center and the Marriott Suites on Sand Key, which is South of Clearwater Beach. If you're on Gulf Boulevard, look for the Clearwater Community Sailing Center and turn in there. Keep going and you'll hit Abu Seba Beach! Officially, the sign says Clearwater Beach but the whole island of Sand Key is part of the city of Clearwater. The beach extends all the way to the Clearwater Pass Bridge which connects Sand Key Island to Clearwater Beach Island. Where the beach ends by the Clearwater Pass Bridge, there's lots of rocks and it looks really pretty! I'm not sure who named Abu Seba Beach but it's on Google maps, Yelp, Trip Advisor and Facebook so that's good enough for me. "Abu Seba" means "father of a drunkard" in Arabic according to Google so that seems like a suitable name for a party beach. Cars can pull directly on the beach and park without walking 20 yards to get to the beach. Aside from being able to drop the name of this secret beach that you can impress your friends with and having a cool spot to take pictures of your car on the beach on the east coast, the big draw back to this beach is that it's on the Intercoastal and the water is not as blue or clear as on Sand Key Beach across the street. The 2nd draw back to this beach is that parking is $15 for the whole day while it is 1/3rd the price at $5 for the whole day across the street with bluer waters and showers at Sand Key Park and completely free to park at Bay Park on Sand Key. The third draw back to this beach is that there are no showers. A pet peave of mine is driving w sandy feet. If you are really acrobatic or flexible or tall, you can actually wash your feet off in the beach's bathroom sink if you can get your feet to reach. A 4th drawback is no big waves. Not everyone is into big waves but I think they're fun and so do kids! No launching of motorized watercrafts are allowed at this beach and no dogs are allowed at this beach. I imagine this sort of beach is what those beach Jeeps with no doors are made for. If you like hanging in the trunk of your SUV or truck, this beach may be the perfect beach for you!
