This is a really great park! Really has a lot to offer. Walking trails, intercostal lookout, nature center with Owls, hawks and an eagle. It also has a small playground with a zip line for the kids. The workers were so nice to bring the small owls to show my toddler. There is restrooms and picnic shelters as well. read more

This is a great park! My boys (7 and 10) loved feeding the turtles, looking at the owls and other animals inside, and the bald eagle. The playground has great alternative activities (zip line) and regular activities (swings). The nature walk is nice too; very shaded and the path is comfortable. read more

Patrick, Donna and the crew take such "GREAT" care of the park. The new walkway is AWESOME. It feels so....good under your feet. Much better than concrete. It is very peaceful and serene... I really appreciate this Nature Park. It has several birds that they have rescued and take care of (eagles, owls, hawks, etc.). There are numerous owl and bird houses on the property. One of them has turned into a bee nest too. I am not sure if the caretakers intentionally did that. I also spotted a large Racoon roaming around here. This park has an adorable lake full of turtles and tortoises. It looks like you can purchase food to feed them. The small lake has a lot of seating and a deck. It also has a beautiful sprawling tree on the back side of the lake. The park has some small trails that are either concrete or the spongy mulch material that is used for a lot of playgrounds. The trails wind through some beautiful tall trees. You can see a variety of plants from sea grapes to common lantana to American Beautyberry. There is an intercoastal boardwalk / overlook that has beautiful views. It has a nice children play area. There are bathrooms on the premise towards the front of the park / parking lot. This is not a huge park. I would not come here if I was looking for extensive exercise. However, this is a good spot if you are looking for a peaceful place to spend the afternoon in the trees...with nature.. or even with kids. read more

This park is a fun place to see multiple kinds of native butterflies in the wild, feed a huge assortment of turtles using food they have available for only 50 cents or a dollar, watch wild birds, and enjoy the company of some amazing birds of prey. They have an eagle, owls, and a huge red-tailed hawk. The hawk has these incredible red tail feathers and is a truly beautiful creation. This peaceful spot will take you away from the stress of the day and enable you to commune with nature in a positive way. If you are stressed, I'd highly recommend it. This is a nice size park for kids to run around and enjoy nature. Kids needed a break from the beach so decided to get ice cream and enjoy em at the park. If it didn't get too hot we would have stayed longer than two hours. There's a park with swings and teepee structure for kids to climb on but everything was too hot to touch so we skipped that part of the park. Took the boardwalk close for the water to get to the turtle pond. Some parts were so dense with trees and palmettos, it feels like you're going through a mini rain forest. The turtle pond was our fav, there must have been hundreds of turtles in the water. Some were out sunbathing and we got inches close. There's plenty of benches to sit around, there's also picnic facilities for parties but I'm assuming none are open due to Covid. They close at 8pm so will most likely come back when the temp is a lot cooler. read more

This was a light in the seemingly dark times in which we are living. The nature park is still open to the public, and it's very easy to allow social distancing. The raptors were so amazing. Each one has their own placard and story. They have an American Bald Eagle there in the sanctuary, as she could no longer survive in the wild. She is majestic!! The turtle pond was delightful and peaceful. There was plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the peace. People around were very respectful of the social distancing measures. Just look at the wonderful flowers I captures along the way. You can walk out to view the inter coastal. I was so happy that the county has not closed this up, because with all of this going on I needed a little refuge from quarantine that was safe and beautiful at the same time. read more

My four year old son loves this place! The recycled shredded tire trail is awesome for little feet. The trail takes you to the intracoastal waterway pier, playground, and all thru nature. Along the route you may see turtles and birds out and about. Playground is small but has a fantastic zip line that keeps 3-7 year olds entertained. The turtle pond is home to numerous turtles and there are wicked owls in nature center along with snakes and other native animals. Friendly and informative staff. Great little place in Largo right over the bridge from Indian Rocks Beach. read more

Terribly misleading hours of operation. It's open 7 days a week. Sunday is raptor day with a show. Around 10am on Saturday they brought out all the different raptors. Really engaging. Staff was knowledgeable and sweet. Saw a gopher tortoise on one of the sandy trails. Kids playground was a lot of fun with kid zip line. I may have ridden too. ;) A good 2 hour diversion for younger kids 6 and below. read more

This is a nice park with some fun sitting area, a pond with lots of turtles. They even have their own swimming raft. What a life!!! No dogs on the trails. One leads out to a view over the intercoastal. Lots of sitting areas. No dogs, bikes, rollerblades, etc. on trails. You'll have to leave Fido at home and walk. There's also a nature center but I didn't go in. Dave W. says you can feed the turtles for .50. I need that money for the meters at the beach. read more

This city park in Largo was pretty cool! The indoor facility was utilized for my nephews 6th year birthday party. It had an indoor classroom that could hold up to 85 people comfortably. The faculty brought in select animals, including a bald eagle, to showcase to the children/adults. They also had a large outdoor pond where guests can feed the turtles. Lots of trails and parks. If you're looking for a fun, educational place where you can be around nature then this park is for you!! read more

I loved my morning walk through this cute little park! The rescue birds, especially the owls, are adorable. The turtle pond does not disappoint. The volunteers were friendly and answered my questions. The new tire rubber path provides great cushion to walk on. There is also a view of the intracoastal and a playground. read more

Off the main road and its tucked away. I've lived here for four years and didn't even realize it was here! Very quiet and a peaceful morning walk. They have birds in cages, owls, hawks etc. and there are bat houses, as well as turtles. A great easy trail for children with several areas where picnic tables are tucked away for picnics or birthdays. A simply but nice play area for children as well. It was pleasurable but I don't have any children that are younger. My son is grown. But I'd come back again. You can also park here and walk across the draw bridge to get to the beach. Maybe a 20-minute walk. I'm glad I found it. read more

NO DOGS on any of the trails/walks-not even service dogs. Also no bikes, skateboards, or skates. The whole Indian Rocks Beach area has no place for adults with children and/or pets to enjoy nature, hike, etc. This park, with it's 4 signs right at the front that start with "NO"...., gives off a clear vibe it's for curmudgeons who don't like "active" people, pets, or kids. read more

I went there to check this nature preserve out and found the parking lot very small. You can enjoy looking at sunbathing turtles, feed them with food you buy at their gift shop for 50 cents or a dollar. They have beautiful birds of prey. Plenty of owls. There were two small ones in the gift shop I thought were toys until one moved and blinked its eyes. Nice family place but some of the volunteers holding birds did not talk. This is a very quiet park, they have one Eagle, and several owls on display. Also two Kestrel Falcons and various reptiles on display. There is a turtle pond and you can feed the turtles. It is educational for children, and peaceful for those that want to get away from it all. The staff is informative and courteous. read more

Nice trails for walking, and a lot of fun to see the animals. My daughter liked it a lot.

I'm a volunteer at the Nature Center with the birds of prey. All the birds here are "education birds" - non-releasable due to injury or imprint so they can't survive in the wild. Every cage is cleaned every day and the birds are walked and given as much love as we can every day. It's a great opportunity to see a raptor up close and the volunteers will be happy to tell you about them. The trails are made of shredded tires so they are extremely comfy to walk on - shock absorbent! Trails lead to a play ground, picnic tables, or all the way to the intercoastal - very relaxing. Great place for kids birthday parties too! We hope you'll come see the birds and enjoy some nature with us! read more

One of the coolest parks we have here in the area! A learning center, bird sanctuary/rescue, turtle ponds and vast grounds to walk on. Close to the beach too! Great haven to duck into and escape the world :) read more

We had a great time at this park. It is conveniently located near the Indian Shores/Indian Rocks Area. They have several birds of prey you can see. In particular an American bald Eagle and several types of owls. There are many many turtles that you will encounter and you can feed for 50 cents. It is a nice way to spend about an hour of your visit to the shore. read more

Never knew this place existed. Well worth the drive. Feed the turtles, watch the otter, see the Eastern Screech Owls, Great Horned Owls, Barred Owls, American Kestrals, snakes, lizards, Red-Tailed Hawks, Red-shouldered Hawks and Sarge the American Bald Eagle. We brought our two year old grandson and he loved it, as did we. We will definitely be back on a Sunday at 1pm for their bird show. Highly recommended! read more

I am originally from this county and had not been to this park in a while. Years back I had taken adult classes here and they do currently have children's classes offered. They have different events - call for info. One is an art class for a few. On Sunday's at 1:00 pm they bring out the rehabilitated birds & offer a type of educational show. They have owls, eagles, tons of turtles and other birds as well. There is an inside educational area and beautiful trails. Please support this park. They do except donations for food for the birds and turtles. The new trails are incredible. The pathways are made of cushy rubber bits & just wonderful. The volunteers & staff very passionate, friendly and approachable. I was very pleased to see that everybody that was working or visiting here was interested in nature and preserving our piece of paradise. And it's helping teach & rehabilitate injured birds. Loved visiting the park! Heard about it at a raptors' event last month and it seemed like a cool place to visit. It was so neat to see hawks and owls up close. They also had a rat, a snapping turtle and some other random critters there. After looking at the birds, we took a hike on a short trail. They have a kids playground too and a small turtle lake. The turtles are clearly used to people and didn't mind me taking pics seating right next to them. read more

The petroleum stench and poisonous air quality from recently poured on asphalt surface just ruins this quiet peaceful local park. Who decided adding asphalt on top of a natural path was a worthy plan? It reeks. It pollutes the gulf water. It harms the animals, reptiles, turtles who live there and isn't good for the visiting children or nature enthusiasts who enjoyed the atmosphere of a natural setting. There are plenty of invasive plants there to remove. This was simply wasted money, environmental disaster and added cancer causing chemicals. The usual Florida environmental trifecta when people get suckered into improving that which didn't need it. read more

Kids love this place! The owls and other animals at the nature center, feeding the turtles, the bald eagle, walking out to the dock, etc. The staff are personable and friendly. We also attended a birthday party here are the kids did 3 crafts and got to learn, see and touch a bunch of cool animals. We go here a lot and my kids always see or do something new. read more
