    It's turtle central here!

They should really consider renaming it Turtle Lake Park, because that's what you'll find: heaps of turtles! They've got a great trail with mile markers, a dog park for both big and small, and an intricate raised deck situation over the lake where you'll find more than enough turtles to ogle at. You're not supposed to feed them, but man, someone must be! As soon as you peak over the edge, they show up in droves!

I have been driving past Eagle Lake for years now. I finally took the time to check it out...and I am happy that I did. The thing that I learned on this first visit was not to park at the first lot (the one to the left by the dog park). I parked there and initially thought the park was okay..but nothing special. Luckily, I kept exploring and found the back half of the park. Next time I will probably drive all the way to the end and go from there. This park has a lot of nice features and is well kept. I absolutely love the trails. There are so many trails in here that it is possible to get turned around or lost. There is a wide main trail with mile markers. There are boardwalks. There are overlooks onto the multiple lake areas. There are several dirt or sand trails too. It has playgrounds for the kids. There are fishing areas. There are a lot of shelters. It also has an extremely large dog park area that looked nice. The park does have plenty of bathrooms that are well maintained. It also has a lot of trash and recycling receptacles near the shelters. I found amazing trees, plants, wildlife, and flowers here too. If you have a moment, look at the pictures that I uploaded. My favorite were the huge Southern Magnolias. I found several that were bigger than my head. These were hidden off the sandy trails. See if you can find them. If that is too adventurous for you, there are plenty of smaller Southern Magnolias towards the parking lot by the main lake. There were several sections closed off on this visit. However, they had up nice signs thanking patrons for their patience. The project they are working on should be done by July 2020. Even with parts of the trails closed off, I was able to walk 3 miles here easily. The main trail is wider and paved. It would be a great trail for running. This park is also spacious enough and has plenty of private areas where you could get privacy and not feel crowded. I really enjoyed my visit to Eagle Lake Park. I will return soon.

This is a large park with long trails to take a walk, jog, or bike ride. One fun thing to do is feed the turtles and fish from the boardwalk. You get there by turning right at the entrance and then entering a parking lot to the left. I also saw an alligator and great white heron but being carnivores, they had no interest in the bread I had brought. The beautiful bird got so close to me, I figured it might want some bread since it was quite tame. Perhaps people bring goldfish and feed the bird? The turtles, on the other hand, came from all over the lake to partake in the bread feast, moving as quickly as they can which isn't very quick. After all, they are turtles and all.

God bless Florida and Pinellas County!

This is such a beautiful park. There are 4 off leash dog areas and mangy trails. So much wildlife with birds, turtles and more.

Nice wide trails on the south side of the park

If you enjoy mountain biking but don't want to travel out two hours for the trails then practice here. There's some dirt, gravel and crunch shells paths even seen a few openings after the bridge where you can make your own path; get lost and find yourself coming out by McMullen Road.

Nice way to spend an hour and get some fresh air. An old plot of land recently purchased by the city & turned into a park. Nice easy trails, a few nice lakes with some docks for viewing birds. Shelters are rentable. I've heard tell that they're renovating the old-timey orange picking equipment which may become an exhibit in the future.

This park has it all, wide open spaces, boardwalks and trails for walking ,fishing piers for fishing and playgrounds for playing. Park is conveniently located off Keene Rd in Largo, for years I have just driven past without given a chance. Recently I decided to explore it and was thoroughly impressed with the expansive space . This park is huge for being in the middle of a congested area. As far as parks go this park was super clean even the bathrooms were clean which is hard to come by. The park has plenty walking trails which I love and few surprises. We will definitely be back and next time we will pack lunch for picnic.

Wonderful park, you can take a long or a short walk/run - your choice. Dog park is nice as well. People that come to this park are friendly.

This park is great for dog owners. Three fenced in areas for them to run around. Dogs are not permitted on the boardwalk areas, but there's still lots of trails for them to walk on. Our dog gets excited exploring new areas, so she had a blast. There's plenty of water fountains where I was able to cup the water into my hands for her to get a drink. Running is most certainly not my thing, but this would be a good place to do so. We saw more people taking strolls than anything. I don't think it's the best place to ride your bike personally, but a few folks were -- some even with their dogs attached to their bikes. Lots of picnic areas. As far as wildlife, we really only saw squirrels and butterflies.

Alligator look out and watching is a must in the low portion and the bridge. Do not approach them! There's also a disc golf course on the western side of the park with ample parking and easy access for ADA folks, like me! I do use this park to start my bike rides on the Pinellas Trail and that's another reason to just go out and enjoy it. It's right next to the Pinellas Trail and good to mention the "Rails to Trails Conservancy" here! So glad to be a small part! There's a huge playground for children of all ages and a place to eat a nice picnic lunch underneath a nice open shelter. It's well patrolled by the friendly park ranger team and they are always out cleaning and repairing the park. Largo PD and the PCSO drives through a few times a day and this keeps the place quiet and calm. Beautiful place to calm the soul! Just Breathe!

My SIL has lived in the area for years, and knowing how much I love exploring nature near and far, she recommended a visit to this gem of a park only 10-15 minutes from her home. PERFECT choice!! We didn't have a ton of time, but squeezed in a FINE early morning walk around the lake, and I confess I slowed her down taking TONS of pictures (as usual...) because even though it's far from "wilderness," it's a great spot to see lots of nature and wildlife (no alligators this visit!!) and get away from the hustle and bustle normally part of my visit down to the Clearwater area. So many beautiful birds!! There's a well-marked trail around the lake, passing by picnic areas, playgrounds, disc golf courses, and more. Wish I had more time to explore, but at least I know where to go to "decompress" next time I'm down in this area. Definitely worth a visit... Enjoy!!

We like it because it's more scenic than some other paved trails. It's also quite long, so you can choose how far you want to go. The first time we kept going alongside I-4 in Lake Mary, but the second time, we turned and went over I-4 (yes, OVER) and then continued down the trail that way before heading back. Coming from Winter Garden, the San Sebastian Trailhead is the closest jumping on point, and it's also near the beginning of the Trail. The trail does extend a couple of miles further across 436 and down by the Costco, but it seems too busy and trafficky that way. My GPS didn't take me to the correct spot for the trailhead, though, so be careful of that. The road to the trailhead is next to the left of the Rooms-to-Go parking lot with only a tiny sign indicating it. If you turn into a neighborhood (like my GPS suggested), you can't get to the trailhead from there. I love to see the art work painted on the backs of wooden fences as I bike down the trail. Someone has done of excellent job of making boring fences look exciting. There's also a decent amount of shade throughout the trail, and I love how they've built two tunnels under major intersections for bikes to safely cross.

However, West Orange is like the bike version of I4. Super crowded and you really have to pay attention. I guess the bike trail just mirrors Orange county traffic in general. So over to Seminole county, and it's more relaxed and less busy but no less the fun! We biked on a day where the high was 75. But in the sun it was quite warm. Make sure to wear sunscreen especially on your upper legs. I totally got burned. We began the bike trail in Lake Mary as it runs behind my boyfriend's neighborhood. We biked to Altamonte and then turned back around. We turned it into a mini "food bike crawl" stopping for lunch at Don Julio and snacks at 7 11 and Panera. A wonderful workout and activity to do with friends and for all ages. I can't wait to do the bike trail again soon!
