I spend a decent amount of time walking through the wooded paths of Hammock Park. I love how the park manages to have numerous trails and you can walk miles even though it is contained within a relatively small space nestled between houses. This is definitely a park for walkers or explorers. It is probably easy to get turned around or lost if you are directionally challenged (I am not). There are numerous trails that intersect and wind around through the space. There are also some unmarked trails. The Pinellas Trail runs alongside the property if you want to walk even farther. Hammock has a butterfly garden, a small disc golf course (it is not a full course and I do not believe that many people in the actual disc golf community use it. My brother is a PDGA player and does not play here.), a beautiful old church, a playground for the kids, wooden boardwalks, an overlook, plenty of benches, some water and small bridges (although you do not come here for the water as there are better spots), mangroves, wildlife, and lots of tall and beautiful trees. Hammock is a dog friendly park. There are also several different entrances. I like to come in by the baseball fields off of Michigan Blvd. I find it easier to park there than winding through the neighborhoods. The park and the parking are free. Overall, it is a great place to spend some time walking in nature.

It's a pretty sweet park if you're the area and want to immerse yourself in nature. We spotted some crazy big tortoises that are protected here and had fun going "upland" to a very strangely high hill for Florida. We just about explored every little path in one visit and it took about two hours at a leisurely pace with breaks to admire the scenery. A lot of this park seems BRAND NEW like their signage, picnic areas, playground, etc. For anyone interested, I believe the oldest chapel in the area sits right at the park's entrance. We saw a couple getting married their during our visit.

We love taking walks through all the parks around Tampa. This park is rather small, but the paths are nice and well marked. The trees are beautiful, but wildlife was seldom seen on this trip. We managed to see one little gopher turtle, a few cardinals, lots of butterflies, some crabs and some fish. Everyone on the paths was pleasant, and there is enough shade and sun to make it a pleasant walk. The park is located in a neighborhood, so if you lived in the area, this would be a gem. For us, driving over an hour, it wasn't worth the drive as there wasn't much to see.

Very large park located in Dunedin. I came in off Michigan avenue, right near the ball field, and stayed to the Palm path and I know that I didn't see much of it. I walked for about an hour and enjoyed my afternoon in sacred silence. I like that the paths here are large and open, that there are some information plaques and that the city keeps the place well maintained (Though what's up with the Fern path?) and for the most part clear of trash. I took a bag with me and picked up along the way. The diverse wild life is alive and well out in the woods, the birds are especially plentiful, I saw an eagle while I was out there as well as a few Hawks. It was pretty awesome.

AMAZING - not far at all from downtown Dunedin & prob. A park I'd hit up everytime. I don't think it's well known throughout the area. It's free and been one of the best parks I've been to. They have quite a few trails that includes boardwalks, a butterfly garden, lookout tower, kid's playground, big & wide spaces where families were playing w/frisbees, picnic tables w/overhead roofs, restroom, etc. We saw a turtle, a couple bunnies and lots of butterflies!

One of the most beautiful places I've been to in Florida- born and raised here. Craving nature after a trip to the mountains, we set out with the dog for a "hike". I was BLOWN away by this park- words don't do it justice. Photos attached. Bring water, there's restrooms at the end near the kids playground. Also a water bowl for dogs at the playground but no additional stations for water- so bring some for yourself and your furry friend! Lastly- I wouldn't recommend coming here for your first time alone. Despite constantly checking the map we kept getting lost- trails are not marked and it's very easy to get turned around. Its like a maze lol. If you don't have excellent navigational skills you will 100% get lost. Be careful and have fun!

Although not as interesting as a number of the other parks that I have visited, I did enjoy the walk. Located on the fringe of Dunedin, the park trails are relatively short. For the most part the trails are Sandy and there is not much in the way of wildlife. We did see some Gopher Turtles and that was nice.

This is a nice park in an easy to find location in Dunedin. It has a few good trails. Some water and is a really safe place to take a walk or read a book on a bench near by. There is a map located in the park that shows you the trails it has. I recommend trying this one out to see if it fits your outside needs. I don't go here often, but like it when I do.

Excellent place to visit for all ages! Park offers a single bathroom facility. Playground for the kids. Walking trails all along the Creek with other trails branching off of those. Newly released insects to be seen which will eventually clear out the crawling vines. Pretty flowers in the special Butterfly garden. Owls, Birds, Bugs, Flowers, Lizards, Otters! Can all be seen here given the right time of day!!

My wife and I own a place very close to Hammock Park and so when we are in town my morning routine includes a walk through Hammock Park on one or more of the trails. While there are a playground, picnic shelters, and a disc golf course, the primary focus of the park is nature. It takes but a few minutes to leave the sounds of traffic and the hustle and bustle of life to become engulfed in the historic sights and sounds of original Florida. As more and more people travel to the Dunedin area, Hammock Park will only become more important to protect, as a small green oasis.

Oldest Presbyterian church in the area.

Small, but effective park with a butterfly garden, pavilions, trails and the oldest Presbyterian church in central Florida. The park can be accessed many ways: off Michigan, off the Pinellas trail north of Michigan, off Patricia south of Cedar Creek and at the south end of Harvard just past the Dunedin Little League fields. So if you're at the Dunedin Community Center, you can use the Hammock Park trails to safely get to the Pinellas Trail. Plenty of parking, and places to grill and there is a restroom on site to the east of the butterfly garden. Sadly, Our Lady Lourdes Church owns a portion of the park and has it up for sale. A developer is currently attempting to close a deal on the property that will bring a 60-unit condo complex to the site. If you're interested in saving the park, send me a message or voice your concerns at 737 Louden, 2nd FL.

My family and I love taking walks in this amazing natural park. Covers almost a hundred acres in beautiful small town Dunedin. Large playground for the kids full of slides and swings and a ropes Course pyramid. It also has many boardwalks to walk through the mangroves on. If you're ever looking for a little quiet time with nature this is the best place in Pinellas County to take it in!

I would not recommend Hammock Park after it rains - some areas do flood after heavy rains, and the stagnant water smells horrible.

Absolutely loved this island!…read more I have an annual pass for state parks so I didn't have to get into honeymoon island itself. A short drive to the paying booth for taking the ferry from honeymoon to caladesi. It is $20 dollars but they do take military discount too! The two guys on the boat are very funny guys. The captain loves to tell dad jokes and the other tells you fun facts about the islands. It's a short ride to caladesi. Once we arrived there was lots to explore however my friend and I just had a beach day. There is construction going on due to the past hurricanes but there is bathrooms, a cafe, and plenty of shade and trails! I can't wait to go back and explore more. The ferry takes off from honeymoon every hour and from caladesi every half hour. Highly recommend a day trip here!! Water is so nice.

Beautiful beach that has tons of shells…read more This beach is emptier than others because you have to take a ferry to get to it and you have a four hour limit. We aren't major beach people, but I got really interested recently in finding shells. We were at Clearwater Beach and didn't see a lot of shells so I did research into where we could find an abundance of shells and this was one of the beaches that popped up. They have so many shells, but all the shells are very similar. They are the clamshell looking type. So if you're looking for a variety of shells, I would suggest going elsewhere. However, I was super excited to find all of these shells. We ended up getting buckets full of them. You pay eight dollars to get into honeymoon State Park. Then you follow the signs to the parking lot where it is $20 per adult and $12 per child, five and under are free, for the ferry ride. The ferry ride is a boat that is actually quite fun for the children. It's about 10 minutes and in the morning, you can see dolphins and the ferry will stop to look at them. They can fit about 45 to 50 people on each boat, and they do fill up. The first boat is at 10 AM and leaves every half hour after that. You can rent two beach chairs and an umbrella for $35 and they have food and drinks that you can buy on the island. Since you can't bring carts most people travel light so we didn't bring shade or seats. Being that our whole goal was to find shells we weren't sitting much anyways. It is pretty empty. This is not a packed beach at all and we were there on a Saturday in the summer so prime beach season. The sand is white and fine and the water is beautiful. If you're looking for a beach that isn't that crowded I would highly recommend coming here.

Lake Chautaqua offers more shade and, if you like, a paved walkway that runs along the road. There are also some well-established paths within the wooded area, which I really like. It tends to be cooler there and gives the dogs plenty to sniff. There are many places to toss your dog's waste, and most people adhere to cleaning up after their pets. A large parking lot toward the beginning of the park has water stations for adults, children, and dogs. There is also an available hose in a small fenced-in area. It's not overly crowded. Of course, the oak trees & palms including many other plants/trees I couldn't identify are so pretty.
