Great trail for walking or biking! Mostly shady and large enough for bikes and traffic. Some nice scenary and great art by artist John Demshock that makes it really fun. This trail goes from Altamonte all the way to Lake Mary which is about a ten mile run. With just a few intersections to cross ( many you avoid via tunnel) this is a great scenic way to be outside and excercise!

The Seminole Wekiva Trail is a 13.5 mile trail winding its way from 436 in Altamonte North along Markham Woods Rd. and towards the Wekiva River. The trail is wide, paved, and in many parts covered by a beautiful treed canopy. The trail is scenic and feels very safe; it never goes through any rough neighborhoods and you are never as secluded as you feel. There are plenty of trash cans, benches, water fountains (even for dogs!) and even educational plaques along the way. The trail is great for walking, running, cycling, skating or horseback riding. There are several trailheads to access the trail; one of my favorites is Sanlando Park which offers ample parking and restrooms.

I love how the boardwalk and trails intertwine with the surrounding nature and then open up once you get towards the lookout tower to give you great views of the surrounding landscape. I also thought that it was cool that the water sometimes flows below you as you walk on the boardwalk. You can stay on the boardwalk the entire time so your feet won't even get dirty. There are other paved and unpaved portions of the park that are away from the lookout tower where the grass is a bit more lush and you can do things like play frisbee or yoga. There are also open air bathrooms which makes it convenient in not having to look for somewhere to go outside the park. One thing I did find odd is that there are no windows on the bathroom. It's just open air so if anyone was walking by the bathroom they could look in on you dropping your number ones and number twos. It was nice to find a park though that had unimpeded access to the water and a great mix of nature so if you're trying to get fit or just relax, this is the park for you.

I've been here twice or three times, since they shoot their fireworks in this water. They are quite nice. This park has many nice open space areas for recreation including a splash pad and baseball diamond. They hold festivals here and most recently their Merry Market Christmas fest which I also went to last year. It's a good space for vendors and food trucks and entertainment to gather. Parking is right beside the park and if it's a big event, it can be a challenge to find parking. It's nice they have this space. I do love Madeira Beach, & this festival and fireworks is great. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024 is their Xmas Boat parade in this same location with their market.

If you are looking for more reasons to love Madeira Beach (LOL as if you need anything more than the stellar sunsets and cool local businesses of the whole middle beaches area.) this is certainly one of them. This park is tucked into the inner coastal, turn just before the library and there you are! My only ~words of warning~ are that the speed bumps are BRUTAL. So drive slowly :-) (which you should be anyway) and take it easy.
