Absolutely loved this island!…read more I have an annual pass for state parks so I didn't have to get into honeymoon island itself. A short drive to the paying booth for taking the ferry from honeymoon to caladesi. It is $20 dollars but they do take military discount too! The two guys on the boat are very funny guys. The captain loves to tell dad jokes and the other tells you fun facts about the islands. It's a short ride to caladesi. Once we arrived there was lots to explore however my friend and I just had a beach day. There is construction going on due to the past hurricanes but there is bathrooms, a cafe, and plenty of shade and trails! I can't wait to go back and explore more. The ferry takes off from honeymoon every hour and from caladesi every half hour. Highly recommend a day trip here!! Water is so nice.

It is accessed by ferry with a great crew from the honeymoon island state park in Dunedin or by boat for a fee. The regular price for the ferry is $20 RT per person. They also have a military discount. I went on a Friday and expected it to be crowded but it wasn't so that was nice. There is a cafe which different food, drink, and souvenir offerings. If you rent a beach chair or umbrella, you can get 2 free drinks from the cafe so that's cool. Regular chairs are $35 and lounge chairs are $50. They come in a set of 2. Because it was just me, I got the lounge chairs for a discount of $40. The water was perfect and I had the best time. I can't wait to go back!

Revisiting this park after a few years, while in the area again. Sad to see the many tree stumps,…read moreremnants of trees that didn't survive the hurricane a couple years ago. For that reason there's less shade in the park, but otherwise it is well maintained and restored as much as possible. There is the historic spring, that was once a paid attraction in the area, but now the park is totally free. Usually there is an abundance of fishes near the circular spring. We enjoy walking along the trail. There's an observation tower that gives a nice view of the area, plus seveal decks to admire the Gulf. To the right side of the entrance there's a other trail, longer and more for bicycles, that takes you along the paved road to another observation deck. As walker I prefer the other trail, more natural, better shades, and less hot than walking on asphalt. There is a butterfly garden, and a little free library as well, near the parking lot.

We were fascinated by numerous jumping fish launching themselves out of the water over and over again. They do close a few minutes after sunset so it is difficult to watch this from the tower and get back to the car before they close for the night. A park ranger was coming out to clear people out before the sunset. Not sure this is a daily occurrence but was on the Sunday night we were there. Park is pretty clean. Trash cans are emptied. Need some more signs showing where the trails are located. When you park by the main bathroom there is nothing telling you where to go for trails. Cute butterfly garden that could use a tiny bit of care and surprisingly had no live butterflies around it. The spring has several signs around it that explain it's history and made this more interesting. Look for the female silhouette in the bottom of the spring. There is a sign that helps you see it. Numerous picnic areas. They are rolling out a new reservation system but it was down for a week. The Pinellas Trail connects right to the park and several spots had bike racks. Only thing that was frustrating was numerous visitors not following signs for "no dogs" especially in the tower where leashes get in the way on small walkways. The sign right on the boardwalk leading to the tower clearly indicates no dogs so why do you feel entitled to walk your dogs up and down the tower? Hopefully no dogs peeing through wood slats down on people below. Definitely be back to this park when in the Sponge Docks area. The beauty is so evident here... There are some sections that smell like sulfur probably due to decaying swamp material but this is nature!

The beach stretches out nicely so even when it is busy you can still find your own space. We also enjoyed seeing the shells along the shore which made it even more fun. The park itself is very well maintained with clean facilities, plenty of parking, and easy access to the beach areas. There are also nature trails that give you a chance to see local wildlife and enjoy a quieter side of the park. Everything about the visit felt relaxing and well organized. Went for a hike then the beach (2 min drive between the two in the same park). Trails are well manicured with lots of signs to learn about the wildlife and foliage, pet friendly on leash, and clean. I only saw 1 piece of trash the whole trail (a bike chain which I picked up and threw away). Trails are dirt and sand with roots and bumpy at times. We took a beach cart for the dog and for really same candy areas it was arduous, but doable. Beach is awesome. Have been a few times and love it. Clear/greenish water (same as Clearwater), large shallow area, and sandy bottom mostly. One area is dog friendly and its terrible. Small shoreline and lots and lots of rocks. I hate that side but I can bring my dog, so thats that. Once you get a ways in the rocks disappear though. Definitely bring aqua shoes. Overall, Honeymoon is a great time. $8 fee for a vehicle of 2 or more, $4 for one, and $2 pedestrians/bikes.

What an absolutely beautiful park with stunning views!…read more I had the pleasure of visiting here during a February weekend, and it is very clean, refreshing and peaceful. We have enjoyed this park for over 30 years and have attended multiple company functions and family gatherings. The Indian Mound is paved and offers a glimpse into the past. Informational markers all along the way. Roads are paved (and 15 mph), easily traversed by car, bike, or walking. Almost every area offers scenic views of the northern tip of Tampa Bay waters. Something new to me was a series of rocks that I first thought maybe a rock garden, but closer examination revealed a series of climbing rocks for kids. It's a great place, wonderfully maintained. Plane to spend an hour or more enjoying it, with friends or family, or alone. Peaceful....
