There is also meter parking on the street. There is construction going on around the park on the outskirts of it The landscaping here is beautiful. Walking path, park, picnic tables, dog friendly lots of green space. They also have the Market Marie here and we recently came for the July 4 fireworks and also when the big huge inflatable rubber ducky came. So many levels of views here with the water and marina in the background. Bay sound is here too where they have concerts. It's a great place and the best place in downtown Clearwater.

The park itself is very clean and nicely laid out with a cool splash pad for children to play in as well as a nice little park with stuff to climb and slide down and around on. I like that the park had some really clean bathrooms and the stalls didn't have any gaps when I closed the door. Being able to walk around this park and see some beautiful views of the water was something that was very cool because it is right off the water! No matter where I was walking there was something to see and enjoy. There was also a ton of seating around the park so I didn't have to sit on the floor or sit in the way of anyone. I also love that there are both stairs and ramps so that everyone is able to enjoy this park!

This parking lot is between Sunnydale Dr and Sunset Point Dr. It also has benches to sit on, and a sidewalk that goes well into Dunedin's Main Street. Beautiful beach that has tons of shells…read more This beach is emptier than others because you have to take a ferry to get to it and you have a four hour limit. We aren't major beach people, but I got really interested recently in finding shells. We were at Clearwater Beach and didn't see a lot of shells so I did research into where we could find an abundance of shells and this was one of the beaches that popped up. They have so many shells, but all the shells are very similar. They are the clamshell looking type. So if you're looking for a variety of shells, I would suggest going elsewhere. However, I was super excited to find all of these shells. We ended up getting buckets full of them. You pay eight dollars to get into honeymoon State Park. Then you follow the signs to the parking lot where it is $20 per adult and $12 per child, five and under are free, for the ferry ride. The ferry ride is a boat that is actually quite fun for the children. It's about 10 minutes and in the morning, you can see dolphins and the ferry will stop to look at them. They can fit about 45 to 50 people on each boat, and they do fill up. The first boat is at 10 AM and leaves every half hour after that. You can rent two beach chairs and an umbrella for $35 and they have food and drinks that you can buy on the island. Since you can't bring carts most people travel light so we didn't bring shade or seats. Being that our whole goal was to find shells we weren't sitting much anyways. It is pretty empty. This is not a packed beach at all and we were there on a Saturday in the summer so prime beach season. The sand is white and fine and the water is beautiful. If you're looking for a beach that isn't that crowded I would highly recommend coming here.

"Discovering" this new (to me!!) hidden gem illustrates why as much as I'm turning into a "lone…read morewolf" these days (or so it seems...) every now and then, ESPECIALLY when you're spending time with locals, it PAYS to follow their lead and go where they suggest. My SIL has lived in the area for years, and knowing how much I love exploring nature near and far, she recommended a visit to this gem of a park only 10-15 minutes from her home. PERFECT choice!! We didn't have a ton of time, but squeezed in a FINE early morning walk around the lake, and I confess I slowed her down taking TONS of pictures (as usual...) because even though it's far from "wilderness," it's a great spot to see lots of nature and wildlife (no alligators this visit!!) and get away from the hustle and bustle normally part of my visit down to the Clearwater area. So many beautiful birds!! There's a well-marked trail around the lake, passing by picnic areas, playgrounds, disc golf courses, and more. Wish I had more time to explore, but at least I know where to go to "decompress" next time I'm down in this area. Definitely worth a visit... Enjoy!!

A couple of workers I discussed with there seem to both know and like what they do. -1 star for the location's proximity to the highway, which unfortunately causes constant noise pollution when venturing past the entrance area.

If you don't want to do that, there is a small parking lot at the nature preserve. There are fairly clean bathrooms for a park. My favorite part is that there are so many nature trails! There's a boardwalk trail around a pond, a trail around the perimeter of the nature preserve, and a maze of trails that weave in and out of trees and nature. I recommend these trails on a hot Florida day, as there is some shade available. However, I did panic a little on my walk because once you get deep into the woods, it feels a little like you could get lost. Fortunately, it's actually pretty easy to find your way out. There are so many signs to help you learn about the nature you see. Even when the nature preserve has a lot of people, there is plenty of open space to find peace and quiet.

The center of the park is a massive open area that you'll be able to just sit and soak in the sun, like I do, or throw a ball around with friends and family or even fly a kit, that's how much room they have here! There are a couple little playgrounds that take up a huge area and they are always full. They keep the playgrounds super clean as well as the bathrooms in the area! I love coming here since I was a kid, and I still do! One of my favorite things is the tiny train ride they offer that takes you on a slow miniature journey throughout the park. It is a ton of fun and the kiddos will be over to moon enjoying it for sure. They host some amazing events such as the Christmas light event in the winter and it is hands down my favorite cause they use thousands of lights around the park and it's stunning to see in person. I always feel safe coming here and there is amply parking for everyone! I can't wait to get my next visit to this park!

Our wonderful Airbnb recommended a visit to this nearby nature preserve (walking distance from where we stayed...) and it was a GREAT for a mid-morning stroll (should have gone at sunrise, but VACATION!!) The park looks small-ish from the main road, but venture in and check out the beautiful boardwalk that will have you "up close and personal" with the mangroves, lots of informative signs about the "residents" of this preserve, and if you're luckier than we were, apparently lots of birds and other creatures. The trail is not incredibly well-marked, but it's short enough that even a wrong turn or two won't leave you hopelessly lost. Clean, scenic, COOL in the shade, and definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!! Enjoy!!
