Don't pay before they're finished. If you do they will leave the job unfinished and you won't get them back. Salesman Terry Seems friendly enough but I'm a senior and I got stuck by this company on him. Do not pay ahead of time he won't get the work finished. read more

BE WARNED. I've read these other reviews and yes, Sanchez Tree Service works hard. They work fast. And yes, they certainly know how to take down big trees quickly and safely! HOWEVER, Sanchez has done a lot of work in our subdivision in the past several months and I feel compelled to write a review to tell you that we have had complaints from several people, including SENIORS and their families who were very upset and said they were TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF by Sanchez, being charged WAY more for work than what others in the neighborhood were charged for similar work. There were plenty of people in the neighborhood who had work done to compare to. They told an elderly neighbor that a tree was ill in needed to be removed, so he paid thousands for the removal and to have some other trees trimmed, but there didn't appear to be anything wrong with the tree they said was ill and needed to be removed. They climbed other healthy trees with spikes that left huge shredded rips in the trunks. So, potentially these other healthy trees have been damaged or killed. Importantly, they left stumps (which they charge quite a bit extra to grind/remove) and huge messes for days at several houses in our subdivision, meanwhile soliciting new business and starting new work. One neighbor had trunks and branches all over with trees half cut down -- and there they are knocking on doors and starting work a couple houses down. Days are passing -- still starting other jobs... while this huge mess is sitting right next to a house that was for sale. Someone recently said Sanchez still has not completed work at their home but they have already been paid. I recommend that if you do hire them, that you WITHOLD all or HALF of the payment until the work is completed to your satisfaction. One last thing: this company has been in our subdivision on several occasions without a required permit, despite being told they need one. I believe our city runs background checks on solicitors before granting permits so perhaps they don't want background checks or just don't want to take the time/money to get a permit. So, you might want to ask if they do have one to solicit/perform work in your city. Again, while some people in our neighborhood were perfectly happy with the work Sanchez did, a significant number were very unhappy and I thought it only fair that some of these 5-star reviews be balanced out with another perspective and experience. read more

Previous owner was amazing, whoever took over this business is awful. Calls and makes appointments and then doesn't show, tried to overcharge my parents and had to barter with them about not paying 300/tree removal. Really disappointed, loved the previous owner. read more

I had some trees cut down today. Sanchez gave me the best quote, did the job I asked for, and were both prompt and efficient. Salesman Terry (248-770-1372) was very cordial and stayed throughout the process to assist where necessary. I highly recommend them for service. My brother and I have used them in the past and have always had positive results. Their coverage includes all areas from Lansing to Saginaw, the Thumb, all of Oakland, Macomb and St. Clair counties. With 4 crews, they are able to schedule your job quickly. If you need tree trimming or tree removal, these are the guys for the job. read more

My experience with this company: A huge storm knocked over a tree and within 30 minutes of the storm calming down, a sales person from the company named Rich came up to our door and talked to my dad who was visiting from California. We decided to use their service and within an hour, the workers got to work removing the tree. They were FAST. It was awesome. When they were done, I noticed they hadn't removed the stump. We asked when they were going to remove the stump, the worker said that they needed to rent special equipment but there was nothing they can do now but they can do it in a few days. Note: My dad told me that when they spoke, Rich agreed on stump removal. But I wasn't there during the conversation. Before we handed them the check for the full amount, I decided to call Rich and see when the stump removal was going to happen. When I got a hold of him, he said that he hadn't agreed with my dad on stump removal BUT he would take care of it. He told me just to pay the guy the full amount. I agreed no problem. Sweet. So far so good. Great service thus far. Very trustworthy. Right? Well, they didn't come in a few days to remove the stump. I've left 2 voicemails to Rich to schedule a stump removal. And so far, Rich and he hasn't returned any of my calls or answered his phone. As of writing this: I can't get a hold of Rich to discuss the removal a stump. So here are the bullet points: - The workers who removed the tree were AWESOME. Super professional and amazing. They removed my tree in the friggin rain! Extra star for that. - The agreement of whether or not stump removal was included: It was between my dad and Rich and their stories had discrepancies. I don't actually know whose story is true. I wasn't a part of the conversation. - Despite the discrepancy, Rich offered to remove our tree stump (which was nice) and told us to pay the invoice in full. BUT he hasn't (not very nice). - Rich hasn't returned my phone calls after leaving him a few voicemails. I'm sure guys are fantastic to work with most of the time. I just wanted to share my experience. I'll update this review if they end up contacting me. read more

Called them for a estimate on trimming back some low hanging limbs. I look out my window and the whole crew is pullling up in front of my home, so I goes out to meet the guy that came in my yard and I asked why the whole crew for an estimate and he tells me that they came to work and I told him, you don't send out a whole crew for the estimate. I told them what I wanted done and I guess the big man didn't like what I wanted, he gave me a price on cutting down trees in my yard, and I told him that I did not want the trees cut down just branches cut back. I guess he didn't like what I was saying and he kept giving me an estimate on cutting down the trees. So, I told him again that I didn't want the trees down and that I was spending my money and that he could not spend my money and the little gentleman walked away. So professional for a business that has changed the name on the side of their business truck. I told the first guy that I was speaking with that came into my yard first that they gentleman is rude and unprofessional and that I will be writing a review on YELP. read more

Sanchez tree service was doing my neighbors tree trimming, I stopped by and talked to there salesman John to get a quote, He came to the house and I showed him the 2 trees I wanted cut down. John gave me a great price to remove the trees and stump them. I agreed to the price and they were there within 20 minutes. They started to cut the trees down in the rain , but then it started to storm and they had to stop, and said they would come back in the morning. They were back at 8:00 am with 7 guys , and finished job and cleaned everything in the yard. They came back at a latter date to finish the tree stumping as promised. I would recommend them , if you want a great job fast, and everything done as quoted for a great price. Thanks to Sanchez Tree Service read more

Have used Sanchez twice now. First time they were in our neighborhood and asked about a dead ash tree. Since they were already there and I wanted to keep a 'totem pole' of 20' of tree, they gave me a great price. The branches were in some utility lines so that is why I had them do it, they were in and out in under 1 hour! The tree was taller than our 2 story house. I think they did it for $400 and I gave them a $100 tip. Second time the huge willow in the front yard cracked around the trunk where it split into 3 trunks and there were large branches hanging over the house. Other companies were quoting $2500+, Sanchez did it for $1800 in one day with a stump grind the next day. I believe we gave them an extra $100 or two for that job too. Terry makes sure the tips get distributed to the crew, he was a great salesman. I do not recall them taking credit cards, but they did take a check. read more

I think they left a card on my door so I called them to TRIM my large beautiful healthy trees in my back yard that give us great shade. Our rear yard faces southwest and would be an inferno without those trees. Well, they wanted to cut them all down explaining they were leaning, sick and dying. I guess the thought I was blind. LOL I saw how low their rating was online and did not use them but they called me several times going lower and lower on the price. I am a contractor and roofers and tree removal companies can be a rough bunch. Be sure you owe them significant money up until they are done. Don't pay in full until the job is totally done, stump is gone, debris is gone. read more

These guys are awesome. They were in the neighborhood and Chadd, the sales guy, came by to see if we needed any work. We told him we sure did and we agreed to a very aggressive cleaning of a lot of junk trees and brush, cutting down several trees (including a 150 foot white pine) and trimming dead branches from several huge oaks. The team showed up the next morning and they worked hard for about five hours. They did all we agreed to and much more, even hanging an owl house for us in a tree off our patio and stringing a ham radio antenna wire for me. They hauled away everything and cleaned up perfectly. I have had lots of tree service folks over the years. Hands down, these guys were the absolute best. read more

I have used Sanchez tree service twice now. The first time a year ago they did a good job trimming one tree, completing it very quickly. The second time three weeks ago they removed one tree, and trimmed two trees. I paid Terry, owner/salesman, and then after he left I spoke with one of the workers and asked him to cut down several dead branches they missed. He told me it would cost extra, but I could call Terry and speak with him. I called Terry immediately and he said they would come back on Sunday to remove the dead branches as well as remove the tree stump from the tree they cut down. Needless to say they did not show up on Sunday and I have called Terry four times now and he keeps telling me they will come next Sunday to remove the tree stump and branches. On the third call I challenged him, asking if they are really going to show up. He told me not to get cocky and hung up on me. They never did show up to remove the tree stump or tree branches. I would avoid Sanchez tree service because they do not live up to their commitments are are not trust worthy. read more

VERY, VERY, VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. Be warned to get everything in writing, take "before and after photos" of the work that you expect Sanchez Tree Service to do, even after they agree to do the work. Be prepared to have a second and third negotiation after they tear into your trees and your yard. Next they are going to threaten to leave halfway through your job if you don't agree to a 30 percent price increase. This was not a small job, and I was crystal clear in my communication with them that they should not have excepted to do this job. They were clearly not capable of doing it professionally. I have sense hired another company to clean up after them, and return my property to the Pre-Sanchez experience. Sanchez Tree Service is not welcome here. read more

It appears that this company has changed its name multiple times throughout the years, which is not surprising given the level of customer service we received. We used Gloria Tree Service (which doesn't appear to exist online), but the office phone number and the owner are the same as this one so I'm reviewing them here. We received their information from some friends, who had a great experience with them. Our first interaction was great. While no one answered the office number (which has been the case throughout this entire experience), Chadd's number was also listed on their card and he picked up right away. Chadd was at our house that same morning for an estimate and had the crew there cutting down trees immediately after. We had to leave the house before they were completely finished, so we paid in full before we left. Upon our return, we realized that they hadn't completed some of the work that had been quoted (including removing a large tree). I called Chadd several times and eventually heard back several days later, and he promised to get the crew back out to fix it asap. Long story short: It's now two months later and the work still isn't completed. I eventually got in touch directly with the crew foreman, and she told us three separate days/times that the crew would be there. They never showed up any of those times, even with calls that day to confirm the appointment. We have left Chadd multiple messages and have yet to get a return phone call. I last spoke to the foreman a week ago and have not had any calls or texts returned since (oh, and her voicemail box is also full). At this point, we've given up on the job ever being completed and just want a refund for the unfinished work. read more

DO NOT USE THIS UNRELIABLE and FRAUDULENT COMPANY On July 30, 2012 my elderly parents were approached by a salesperson from this tree service. Sanchez Tree Service had a crew in my parent's neighborhood, and my parents needed a tree taken down. The salesperson (Jaque) quoted my parents a price of $1500 for the removal of a large maple tree. The quote included removal of the tree and branches, yard clean-up, and removal of the stump. Sanchez Tree Service employees proceeded to cut the maple tree down, they removed the trunk and branches, cleaned up the yard, and advised my parents that they would be back the following Sunday to remove the stump. This is now over a month ago, and the company has yet to return to remove the stump. Furthermore, my parent's next door neighbor also utilized the service, and the stump in the neighbor's yard has not removed yet. Additionally, my elderly father has made contact with the company's office (Claudia) and the salesperson (Jaque), and both person's have given him the run-around. I have now become involved and will be assisting my parents in filing a small claims suit for $1500 for service that were not completed. My advice is to not use this company for tree removal, as they are unreliable, and will take your money without completing the project. read more

Very disappointed in service. After the ice storm our trees dropped many branches. Terry the salesman stopped by and asked if he could quote me a price. I walked him through the property and discussed what I expected to be done. We agreed on a price. I arrived home later to see they only did half of what was discussed. I will stick with father and son tree service from now on. read more

Their crews were in our neighborhood on other jobs and offered a quote on removal of a dead 50 foot ash on our lot. I expressed my intention to have two ewe trees and an ornamental removed as well and got a surprisingly reasonable package price. The next day the crew skillfully cut and dropped the ash and the other three. A large crew quickly and completely cleaned up with rakes and blowers. No damage, and the crew boss was back and forth between nearby jobs and was on top of it. Within two days the stumps were ground below grade and surrounding area cleaned again. Quick, efficient, job as promised, great price. No, they don't show up in three-piece suits and not all speak perfect english. These are hard working guys doing physical labor ... not bankers. We had Sanchez Tree service out to our house today and they did an amazing job!!! They showed up exactly when they said they would, cut down 9 pine trees, trimmed a hugh willow tree, and did lots of clean up of trees that had already fallen. They worked quickly and got the job done in record time at an excellent price. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs some trees trimmed or cut down! read more

We hired Sanchez Tree Service to remove 4 Maple Oaks from our property, 3 of them were very massive. Based on the reviews I read on here, we didn't include stump removal. The salesman Terry was very nice to deal with and offered to do the job that day. The crew arrived around 12:30 and finished the job by 5 - these were MASSIVE trees. My husband and I were VERY impressed. They obviously have a lot of experience in this business. We had no problems, no branches fell on our home, they cleaned up well, and we are very happy with the results! I won't hesitate to recommend Sanchez Tree Service to family and friends, their prices are very reasonable. read more

They didn't finish the job, as promised. One day a guy named Chadd, from Sanchez Tree Service, showed up at my door and wanted to know if he could fertilize our trees. He also wanted to know if we needed any trees cut down or trimmed. I told him we needed a tree cut down but wasn't sure about the tree fertilization. He started the hard sell. The trees will die, he had some material left from doing some neighbor's trees, I could get a good deal but needed to decide right now, etc. My wife called some neighbors and discovered, as mentioned in other reviews, he was charging us quite a bit more than he had charged our neighbors. We settled on a better price which included fertilization and cutting down a dead tree. I was given a better price for cutting the tree down because I agreed to have the fertilization job done. They showed up the next day and did the fertilization. Chadd said he didn't have time to cut the tree but would come back the next day and do the job. Fortunately I only paid for the fertilization. They never showed up to cut the tree as promised. No phone call either. I called Chadd and he apologized and said they were having problems with some equipment and would be out soon to complete the job. After a couple more days of no show I called again. Another stall story and promise. No show again. No phone call either. I called Chadd again and this time I was sent to voicemail. This happened several times and it became clear they were not going to finish the job. They stopped returning my phone calls. This "business model" used to work well for people who operate this way. Go into a neighborhood, quote what you think you can get, do the easy stuff, take a pass on the harder stuff, move on to the next town, rinse and repeat. No one would ever know. Now, however, the Internet has made the world a "small town" where the word gets out and people can make an informed decision when it comes to hiring someone or not. These folks may, or may not, do good work. Now that I see how they operate I have no way of knowing what they put in the ground around my trees. Who knows if it will help or not? When people won't return phone calls or follow through on a promise to do a job it isn't a good sign. There's only one reason one doesn't return phone calls in business. You can figure that one out for yourself. One thing I know, they didn't finish my job the way they promised to. A word to the wise is sufficient. When you see the same practice of treating customers poorly popping up in reviews it shows a disturbing pattern that raises some red flags. You only get one chance to build a quality reputation. When will people in business learn this important lesson? read more

Sanchez Tree Service showed up on the doorstep of my elderly mother in West Bloomfield, saying they were in the neighborhood. They conned her into $2000 worth of tree & branch removal that really did not need to be done. Her granddaughter showed up in the middle of the negotiations and tried to put a stop to it. She asked if they would wait until my brother got there. If they had an ounce of integrity, they would have backed off to let the family discuss it, but no! The foreman Aaron basically said "Too bad, she already wrote the check." The crew got to work quickly and and sawed down some branches and small trees. The foreman left in the middle of the job. The workers soon followed, and high-tailed out of there, refusing to listen to my brother, who by then had arrived to find the work in progress. If I'm being generous, they did maybe $1000 worth of work. And again, none of it was really needed. And they left all the stumps of the small trees they cut down. Bottom line: Sanchez Tree Service took advantage of an elderly lady and overcharged her for work that was completely unnecessary to begin with. read more

As I posted ealier Terry came to our door. Promised to cut the tree down and remove the stump. His men came back while we were out and only removed part of the stump. Since then (OVER 3 months now) we have been trying to get them out to finish the work. Terry hung up the phone on me and since then has just plain LIED about coming out. He acts surprised when we call and has promised now six time to come out. NOTHING!! He told us some guy named Carlos was the boss we called and NOTHING!! We are asking for your help. Why are all "5" of the BAD reviews filtered out? I would like any of the five others with complaints to contact us as we are filing a small claim against this service and would like permission to use their statements. We are likewise willing to write a statement for your claim!!! Terry is rude has hung up me, and been promising (him and Carlos, the man we were told was the boss) for six weeks now and we still have the stump. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Also goes by "Gloria Tree Service" also goes by "Lagos Tree Service". The are crooks and scams. They do not have the proper equipment, they are not qualified. They dropped a huge tree on my pool fence - not sure where they thought it was going. They should have taken it down in pieces. Needless to say, they won't pay for the damage. I kept back $1,000 but the repairs are upwards of $1,4000 and that doesn't include the garden fence that they also destroyed. Left a mess across the street on an empty lot where they cleaned out their truck. Left a mess after stumping trees (which they didn't do until 1 month later after I cancelled payment on their original check). DO NOT USE THEM!!!!! read more

We had several large trees removed including stump grinding as well as some tree trimming. The crew did a nice job and the price was competitive. However, for the largest tree they asked us to remove some of the mulch so they could finish grinding the stump down and said they would return to finish the job once we had removed the mulch. After cleaning up the mulch, we called the salesman Terry several times requesting them to come out and finish the job. His usual response was 'give me a few days'. On one of the calls with Terry, we also told him that our neighbor was looking to have a few trees removed...hoping providing a new job prospect might give more incentive to come out and finish ours... Nope! We had our initial work done in July and it's now October and they have not been back to finish the job. read more

While Sanchez Tree Service of Pontiac did provide the lowest quote, I am still waiting for them to come out & finish the job. They cut down our catalpa tree end of Sept. & now, end of Oct., the stump is still there. Every quote that I have received to just remove the stump is more than what Sanchez Tree Service quoted. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I received a quote from their representative to trim various trees and cut down 3 dead ones. They were to cut up the dead trees for firewood to be used in an outside firepit. Upon completion of the service, I told the foreman that they had cut down a wrong tree, which was not dead, which he insisted was the correct one. They did not trim all of the original trees quoted, did not cut up the trees properly, and have refused to resolve the issue. This is not a reputable company and do not stand behind their work. Since this was done while we were not at home we did not realize what had happened, our neighbor had to tell us!!! We have not had any resolution for over two months. I scheduled an estimate with Rick of Sanchez Tree Service. He came out and I showed him what needed to be done. We agreed upon a price and a date. The crew showed up on time. All downhill after that. It turned into a nightmare. The crew gave the appearance and demeanor of thugs. I got the impression a few were 'casing' my house, going places on the property were no work was being done and where they had no business being. The guy who was identified as the owner (by Rick) walked away from me when I tried to talk to him about the progress of the work. And Rick was quite simply dishonest about what he had orginally said they were going to do and what they ultimately did. Their work was absolutely terrible and they left a mess when they were finished. It got so bad that I asked Rick to give me a bill for services rendered and leave. I was very close to calling the police but I was a bit worried about retribution. I mean, these guys were scary - all of them. I ended up paying $2000 for a job that is going to have to be redone. Sanchez Tree Service was doing some work at our neighbors. We asked about getting a couple of evergreen trees removed, and they instantly offered to do the job immediately. Their large crew had the trees down and cleaned up in short order. HOWEVER, we also were to get the stumps removed. The boss told us they would do that on Sunday 8/19. Called Terry twice on Sunday, yet no one showed up despite promises. Monday we called Terry again, and he proclaimed surprise and promised they would be here the following Sunday. Well Sunday has come and gone and no one called and the stumps are still here. I wanted to call the office Monday, yet can't find a listing anywhere for one. I did find a listing that says Gloria Lagos is the principal and the company(?) address is 90 Forest St., Pontiac, MI. There is no other info about them on the internet. There is a SanchezTree Service in Texas that has been in business for 16 years, which is just coincidentally the number of years experience list on Terry's Sanchez Tree Service business card. I also discovered that the BBB gives this company an F. Guess we will contact a reputable tree service. read more
