This is the second time that we have used the AAA McDonald Tree Service. We called them back because the first time they came they gave us such great care and attention. We were not disappointed this time either. After this last winter storm in February a big limb on our tree came down and we called Mac about 8 o'clock in the morning and left a voicemail. He came by about 45 minutes later and told us he had six emergencies he had to take care of, but he wanted to take our limb down before it came down on its own. He did that and then went on to do his emergency services. He came back one and ahalf days later and completely took care of it and one or two other problems we had. He and his crew were professional, efficient and completely took care of our beautiful trees. I will always call them in the future. I highly recommend Mac for all of your tree needs. You will not be disappointed! read more

AAA-McDonald Tree Service - Tree Services Near Me - Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan

I had some unruly growth with my stand of Arbor Vitae (sp?) and needed some professional help. I also had a couple nuisance trees that needed removal. After searching and reading some reviews I decided to call McDonald Tree Service. Vernon took my info and showed up for an estimate an hour or so later. I found his pricing quite fair and hired him right away. A couple hours after that he showed up with a crew and knocked it all out. And it looks beautiful. I couldn't be more happy with the results and the price. Recommend. read more

So let me paint a picture for you. Its 8am on a Saturday morning. You are feeding your kid breakfast when all of the sudden a HUGE, GARGANTUAN, tree limb comes crashing down against your house & garage basically encompassing your backyard and power lines completely in tree parts. I really do not think I can adequately describe in words how full of tree our backyard was. I mean...what do you even do??? Its a Saturday! Luckily a friend told us to call Vern McDonald of AAA McDonald Tree Service. He was out to our house in under an hour and advised us we needed to get this taken care of ASAP due to the danger of the tree on the power line. Within 30 minutes he was back with all his tools, his crew (it was their day off but they came in anyways) and a big ol' crane. They immediately took care of the emergency areas and advised they would try to return the next day to complete the job. Sure enough...8am Sunday morning they all returned with their HUGE wood chipper and more tools. They quickly, efficiently and safely finished the job and gave us our backyard back. We were extremely impressed with Vern & his team. If you EVER need any work done with trees (emergency or not) I strongly suggest you contacting these guys. They were professional, quick and delivered great service when we needed them the most. I sincerely hope you don't have to deal with what we did...but if you ever do at least you now know who to call! read more

Great job! Recommended by a friend. They cut down an entire giant (dead) elm tree that was right over three utility lines, removed a large maple branch that threatened our electric line, removed some other branches on more trees. A professional, seasoned crew with modern equipment, very safety-oriented, well-trained, smart, conscientious, friendly, helpful, strong, quick. Removed flowers at the base of the tree so they could be replanted (without being asked). Did a great cleanup. Arrived 5 minutes early, finished in less than two hours. I'd hire them again with no reservations. read more

Mac was great. I had to trim a neighbor's tree that was touching the roof of my house to satisfy the city inspector (cert. of occupancy inspection). Mac arrived on time (actually earlier than he promised) and was able to handle the job on very short notice. Professional, neat job at a fair price. I used to use Camelot, but Mac is the new go-to guy. read more

Not a very professional person. Vernon came over gave me a bid, told me he would call and come back to do the trimming ( my 93 year old mothers home). He never called... Nothing. I would not bother with this company. read more

This is the kind of service I am talking about. We called, he texted back right away, and came by quickly. This is the kind of company you want to deal with. Great! Highly recommend. read more

Mack from AAA tree service is amazing. Their work was quick and so so reasonable. I've referred them to everyone in my neighborhood!! They have done numerous really difficult removals of dead trees on our block with no problem at all. This is seriously the BEST tree removal company ever! read more

I've used Mac several times. The first was in an emergency. He came promptly and dealt with a tree that took out a power line. He's trimmed trees and ground out stumps for me. read more

I am writing this review not as a customer but as someone who had a run-in with the owner himself today as he and his company were providing tree removal service for someone in my neighborhood. Long story short, the owner displayed very inappropriate behavior to me as well as in front of my young son. I personally would not want to give business to this man solely based on the communication I had with him in which he verbally assaulted me. While I cannot speak to the quality of his companies work, I want my neighbors and community to know that his man did not show the type of behavior that would make me recommend his company. read more

Their quote was under everyone else. And they came out the same day to get started. The were able to do quote and do most of the work while I was gone. And they came on a Saturday. It was a pretty big job. read more

Mac, Ryan and Josh were professionals. I needed a large pile of tree limbs chipped and a dead tree removed. They brought the right equipment and finished the job very quickly. Don't bother calling anyone else. This is the tree company to hire. read more

Hired them to cut down a few trees after Mac's quote was lower than others I received. He cut down a large tree in our front yard like a lumberjack (just sent it crashing to the ground) without telling me that was going to be his method, which would explain why he was cheaper that the other companies that quoted the job. The impact of the tree hitting the ground tore up our yard a bit. When I complained to Mac, he became agitated and confrontational and said he would come back later to fix the yard. He never did. He also never came back to remove the remaining trees and never returned phone calls about the remaining work. read more

During a strong storm, a section of our apple tree split off. We thought we would lose the whole tree, but Mac said he could remove the broken parts of the trunk and shape up the part of the tree still standing. We also had a crab with a lot of dead wood and he said he would clean and shape that tree also. We are thrilled with the results. He far surpassed our expectations, as both trees look better than they have in many years. This company is top notch, the price was very reasonable and we will definitely recommend him to anyone who asks. read more

Great guy, fast to respond, does quick work. I wanted it to be 5 stars. The only thing was that after paying to take away the mulch, I still had a ton left. Bags and bags of wood chips that I had to remove. Other than that, it was great. read more

Had a great experience working with this company. Same day quote and service was completed within 2 days! They went above and beyond with customer service and even doing a few extra things for us. I highly recommend for great service and very competitive pricing! read more

Can't even reach this company. I tied 2 different phone numbers and both say "voice mail is full and not accepting messages." I agree with others on here - not professional and poor cell phone coverage. read more

Great job - I was talking to my Dad who said he'd had a large branch break off a tree in the yard taking out part of a fence - One of the downsides of living 2000 miles away from him is not being able to help at times like this - So, I jumped on Yelp and found a recommendation for him - AAA McDonald Tree Service - he reported back that not only did they chop-up the tree limb & clean-up the mess, they also put the fence back together! All at a reasonable charge! Thanks! read more

These guys are awesome, best price in town, fully insured, Mac was very nice to work with. I had a 100' tall maple tree in my backyard, they removed it without touching the power lines, my house or my garage and cleaned up everything, including all the sawdust that fell into my neighbors yard. I would recommend them 100% to anyone who needs trees removed read more

Prompt Estimate. Very fair price. Quick and Complete Trim of Entire Tree Line from front to back of long, narrow lot. While the crew was onsite at my house a few of my neighbors hired them to trim various trees at their houses as well. Everyone was happy with both their work and their prices. Would use again. read more

Honestly, I did not use this service as I felt the gentleman was very rude and unprofessional upfront. He was very mad when we told him we decided to go with another service. He told us it was a waste for him and he is sick of driving and giving quotes and then people don't hire him. I am beginning to see why.... read more

Beware of this guy.....Vern originally quoted 1,800 to remove our tree (quoted twice and even had one of his guys drive by to look at it - so he knew what it looked like). The day of the tree removal, he suddenly wanted $2,500 instead........he proceeded to do the job without my approval for any price increase and then when he was done I paid him 2,250 (more than half of his sudden 700 increase). When I handed him the check, he got all angry at me and stomped off cussing under his breath....what a loser! Don't hire this company. He was lucky I paid him anything over his original quote......and he never came back to put my fence together either...I had to do it myself. Go to a reputable company instead - there are plenty out there. read more

Great Job! I got 5 different companies to quote a job where I wanted a 75 foot Japaneese Maple tree removed from my back yard. There's not a whole lot of room in my backyard at all, and the tree was surrounded by electrical wires. AAA Mcdonald came out and did the job in half the time the others were quoting and half the price the others were quoting. The 4 other companies said it was a 2 full day job, yet AAA Mcdoanld showed up on time at 10:30am, and left at 5 with only a stump to grind. And this was a huge tree! Did I mention the other companies quotes were double the price? I would refer them in a heartbeat. read more

Awesome company to deal with! We had an emergency situation with a dead elm that started to drop huge limbs onto the side walk. AAA was called and Vern came right out and assessed the situation. There was another huge limb that was split and was going to come down any second. He called another worker to retrieve some equipment and come out right away, which he did! Vern didn't leave until it was safe to do so. He then came back 2 days later and took the rest of the tree down. He made a few special cuts for us that we didn't even ask for. Every member of his crew was very nice, polite and professional. When they were done and started cleaning up I said you guys have done enough, we'll take it from here with the clean up and they refused. If it wasn't for the tree gone, you would almost not know they were here. I already some other trimming on a live tree that I am going to have them do. I highly recommend Vern and his crew!! read more
