The co-pay was higher than usual, and, of course, I questioned it since I have exceptional insurance. The person I spoke to TRIED to be patient while explaining to me the difference between a periodontal and a regular surface cleaning. Not sure why they're taken aback when patients question their services and prices. This is a service business the last time I checked. My next scheduled appointment is in July, and I moved my children's appointment onto the same day, which will make it easier for me to cancel our appointments if I choose to. It's a new year, so my dental insurance just reset. Prior, my and my children's dental group of 5 years were the excellent until we had to move. Within throwing distance we have Sapphire, Grand Mission, Studio Dental, etc. who have high ratings, not only on Google, but also on Yelp. I have options.

She got my MIL in a plan to get her teeth fixed so she could eat comfortably by this Thanksgiving. So thoughtful. Dr John Varghese is not only highly intelligent, but he clearly shows he cares about his patients. He patiently went through each step of the plan to get my MIL's teeth back to normal so she could enjoy life in her late 80's. I liked them so much I too switched to them and got my first X-rays and cleaning. I have issues with grinding my teeth and it's getting to the point where I needed to assess what I need to do to protect my teeth so that I can still use them as I get older. They drew a plan out with what options might be best to tackle my case and I appreciate knowing all the pros and cons of my decision and being informed of the process. She does not know how to get in between both sides of the teeth to get to the gum lines when she flosses for you. Compared to my previous dentist office, this hygienist is awful. The front desk staff refused to verify my insurance and said they would "do it on Thursday." I still left a copy of my information and insurance card and was told it would be handled later. Today, Wednesday 1/21/26, the front desk called me and told me I needed to contact my insurance myself. Since verifying insurance is a basic part of scheduling, I canceled the appointment. She was told to arrive the following day 11/14 at 9:00 am for an appointment. We never received any appointment confirmation and when we arrived we were told that there was nothing on the books for her. Nevertheless they said they would still be able to see her after we completed documents. At that time I left to return to work and asked that my mom call and text me with updates regarding her treatment. Around 11am I received a call from my mom and she stated that she was outside of the office and had been told her insurance was not in network. She was crying and shared that her pain was out of control. At that time I contacted the dental office to speak with someone and to ask about other options. My mom's pain level was beyond a 10 and not getting any better. I asked for a staff to go and get her from outside and bring her in. Initially they never discussed payment options with her. When I inquired they said the visit would be 170.00. At some point the doctor arrived to see her and apparently did a minimal exam and stated she couldn't do anything else and she would need a surgeon. Here's my issue. Poor bedside manners and a lack of compassion. My mom was in pain and was accused of being outraged and loud. The staff threatened to call the police on my mom who had not caused any harm or disrespected anyone rather had not received adequate support or care. No compassion and no EMPATHY. I arrived back to the dentist office and the staff were extremely dismissive. Not to mention my mom was back sitting outside after being threatened So poorly. They had not called the police but when I arrived I told them to go ahead and call them for their lack of and foolishness. There is so much more to this story. I'll post again soon. I will not stop advocating for my mom!!!!! Please stop this practice for not being of service to patients. The also broke several HIPPA LAWS. Dr. Vora, Sophia, Stephanie, and Shamika were the absolute worst.
