The person I spoke to TRIED to be patient while explaining to me the difference between a periodontal and a regular surface cleaning. Not sure why they're taken aback when patients question their services and prices. This is a service business the last time I checked. My next scheduled appointment is in July, and I moved my children's appointment onto the same day, which will make it easier for me to cancel our appointments if I choose to. It's a new year, so my dental insurance just reset. Prior, my and my children's dental group of 5 years were the excellent until we had to move. She got my MIL in a plan to get her teeth fixed so she could eat comfortably by this Thanksgiving. So thoughtful. He patiently went through each step of the plan to get my MIL's teeth back to normal so she could enjoy life in her late 80's. When I arrived, I asked the front desk to verify my insurance and schedule an appointment for Thursday 1/22/26. The front desk staff refused to verify my insurance and said they would "do it on Thursday." At the time, there were no other patients in the office, and part of the office lights were turned off, so they were clearly not busy. I still left a copy of my information and insurance card and was told it would be handled later. Today, Wednesday 1/21/26, the front desk called me and told me I needed to contact my insurance myself. Since verifying insurance is a basic part of scheduling, I canceled the appointment. I'm not looking for an apology -- I'm writing this so future patients know what to expect. This was the least helpful front desk experience I've ever had at a dental office.
