The absolute stingiest thali I have ever been served. I have never seen a styrofoam compartment that small in any takeout box thus far in my life. The equivalent of one chicken drum stick, my joint downtown is $1 more and comes with 3x that meat AND a papadam, this place is on Jarry, no excuse for lack of value. Watery sauces, didn't even bring the right drinks. Bummed out our staff lunch when it was meant to be a team treat. SKIP IT. $180 for 10 people to eat rice and an equally small veg small side with a naan.

its a small indian restaurant.. nothing fancy.. Just eat and go. Good price! Good food.. Okay service.. The food was okay! I hate it when they clean the table where they bring out the big bucket and while everyone is eat. Kinda gross.

I had Chicken Biryani and Chicken Curry with Mango lassi at this place. The quantity was alright and the taste was pretty similar to a homemade Biryani, Chicken curry. I presume the ingredients are fresh and curry is not that spicy is sign of freshly prepared meal. Will not recommend Mango lassi from here. The service was fast and the price moderate. Music was loud with some tracks from Bollywood 90s.

It is a small resto kinda to go food with not many tables. Food is good. I come only for their monday specials when i don't have lunch for work or for late night meals if you passed by there. Only with a few 3-5$ you have a big meal like you normally pay 10$. I tried their kebab sandwich it is good. Chamosa is ok too. I recommend this place for those who don't want to spend much.

    Now that's a thali!!!

This is my friend Noah's favourite place in all the land and you know what, he's pretty much right. The staff is funny and charming, the room is mellow and unfancy, and the chicken thali is massive and crazy delicious. There probably is no better deal in town for under ten bucks. My friend ordered the vegetarian and this was a bit of a disappointment to be honest, kinda tasteless compared to the bangin delight of the butter chicken. But the naan and lentils were still perfect and pleasing, and we had sour fresh lime juice that made the muggy outside world fade from memory just long enough for us to feel floaty and happy, and very lucky to be lunching at Sana on Jarry. Go!

I wouldn't change a thing about Sana's sketchy front façade because that would make longer wait times in what is already a hugely popular restaurant among local Pakistanis. I was the only non-South Asian patron when I entered the door and was immediately greeted with the scent of great spices (picture the air inside Pho Lien, except the aroma's authentic/no MSG). I took the Chicken Tikka Boti (grilled boneless chicken served on a sizzling plate) with their regular and whole wheat naans. The chunky pieces of chicken was so tender you could pull pieces off with a fork. The fumes from the sizzling aren't just for show - bite into the meat and the exquisite blend of spices brought out by the grill will overwhelm both in taste and aroma. It's a bit on the salty and piquant side and for the better, because what underlies the piquant is the aromatic spices of cumin and lemon marinade which puts American style spicy to shame. The breads were below average - the regular naan was fluffy but not crispy and tasted too much baking soda, and the whole wheat naan was almost a warm pita. They're only $0.99 a piece. One of the reviews here sums it up pretty well: "Hidden gem, small tiny place, with no customer service. BUT cheap, AMAZING food" Paid: $14 + tip (used a 15% RestoMontreal.ca coupon), they take debit Rating: 4/5 for now It's a sure repeat with a potential for a 5 star.

Visited Sana this evening for initially a bite but ended up having dinner! We had heard a lot of good reviews about this place and recommended by friends on many occasions so we thought we would finally try it out! From the outside it is nothing fancy - you could easily walk past without even noticing it! But once you step inside, you are overwhelmed by the delicious aromas of various spices and grills that fill the cosy and homely interior. It is a simple place but we felt very welcomed and comfortable as the waiters were very hospitable. We ordered the famous samosa chana chaat, nihari, naan and roti. Everything was cooked to perfection, the flavours were just delicious! I am a super big fan of samosa chaat and they did it just right! The nihari was also a good decent portion - a lot for one person so two could even share it! They even give complimentary salad and homemade mint sauce with the meal which was a bonus! The stone baked naan and roti were also very good. Our order arrived very quickly despite there being many people. Overall, we were extremely impressed with the food and also the price! It is definitely a lot more affordable than most indian restaurants and also better taste wise too!

My Pakistani friend brought me here. It's a bit out of town -- 30 minutes of bus ride from McGill (#80). Otherwise, the food is superb! My friend and I ordered the grilled chicken, naan, saag, and lime juice. The price was reasonably cheap -- we paid around 40 cad.

After some time with the menu, and pitchers of water having been delivered to the table, the server came to take our orders, food and drinks together. The appetizers were delivered before most of the drinks, with one guest not receiving their appetizer until the mains were being delivered. The server had a bit of a hard time remembering who had what, but with some direction, everything was delivered eventually. The food was nice. We had the Lahori fried fish, nicely spiced, fish cooked really well. My partner and I shared the Combo 2 with white meat chicken kahari, beef kebab, and garlic naan. The chicken was cooked very well. The curry paste was tasty. The kahari was served in a large metal bowl, very nice touch. I really enjoyed the kebab as well. The naan was factory made, not fresh. That was a bit disappointing. My fraise rose was delicious. My partner had a mango lassi and said it was acceptable but a bit too thick. The meal had a good spice level throughout. The portions are generous and very filling. Good value for money, however the menu does not make it clear that most dishes seem to be intended for sharing. At the end of the meal, it took some time for dessert to come out (included with the meal), and it seems only some people were asked if they wanted tea or coffee, our side of the table was not. Towards the end, the server simply stood at the other end of the table and asked, generally, if anyone wants anything else. The service might have been better on a busier day, but at 1pm on a Sunday, it was lacking a bit, and we felt a little bit like an inconvenience, even though we were the only people there. We would go back, just maybe for an evening date.

We ordered the Samosa Chaat to share as starters which was plenty and probably the best we have had in Montreal. For our mains, we had the Lamb Karahi (the most popular dish as mentioned by the waitress) and Chicken Jalfrezi. The chicken jalfrezi was delicious and a good portion. However, having tried many a Lamb Karahi, I was not impressed with the quality of the meat and the taste. The pieces of lamb were large and mainly fat/bones - not what you would expect of a traditional lamb karahi. On the plus side, the Naan bread was perfect and always came fresh and hot so that was great. Prices are reasonable and the location is quite convenient (there is some parking directly in front of the restaurant). Overall, good experience and will most probably return but will not be ordering the Lamb Karahi this time.

We ordered 1/2 Kg Mutton Karahi, 1/2 Kg Chicken Karahi, Palak Paneer, Chicken Seekh Kebab, Fish Pakoras and Chai. Oddly enough for something that is their most popular item, the Mutton Karahi was average. It was mostly bones and almost no meat, definitely not half a kg and tasted alright. The Palak Paneer and Chicken Seekh Kebab were 100% reheated and tasted like food that had gone bad. The Chicken Karahi was excellent. Tasted fresh, flavourful and authentic. Fish pakoras were good and fresh. Tea was authentic Chai. The server was chirpy and very helpful. She was interactive and her excitement was contagious. Part of the reason this rating is three stars and not two is because of her! The restaurant was clean and comfortable. However for a place where the food is so Hit or Miss, I would not recommend it to others.

Unfortunately, this time I was disappointed. I got my family too hyped up about the food. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, but the service was super slow. Our orders were taken by two different waiters. So it was annoying, but both them were amiable, so I cannot be super angry at them. We ordered almost a buffet on our table. Mango lassi, Pakota (Pakistani cream soda(too sweet)), Chana Masala (chickpeas curry), mutter paneer (peas/cheese), butter chicken, Biryani Rice, grilled tilapia, and naan bread. The only meals that were good, were grilled tilapia and Chana Masala. Butter chicken was cold, so we asked them to warm it again. Mutter paneer were over cooked, tasted super bland; which we notified and we just got a sorry. Naans were super dry. In the end, what made us happy was Masala Chai with nice warm gulab jamun. In the end, when we asked for our bill; our waiter kept telling us that our bill isn't ready(language barrier?, how can you not make bill ready); we waited for our bill about 20 minutes. I felt leaving the place right way. My first experience was so good, but my second experience is completely the opposite, and I don't think I want to come back for a third experience.
