The restaurant is so outdated. The tablecloths are so dirty. The chairs seats are ripped. The decors are horrible. The service on the other was good. Our waitress is super nice, helpful and friendly. The food was below average. Pani Puri was store bought taste. The biryani was mildly flavored and the chana batura wasn't natural taste; the chana was bland and too creamy and the batura was so hard that I was pulling on a cow's skin. Quite simply, among the most disgusting and rotten food we've ever been served. From the exterior, it looks like a secluded, corporate law office. The interior is clean enough and has a banquet hall feel. Upon seating, which was easy because the place was empty, we noticed immediately that all of the cutlery and glassware was filthy. Photos attached, we were shocked and had them replaced. We ordered simple, standard dishes we were familiar with and it came fairly quickly. But the shock was instant... The chicken samosas were piping hot - and one bite revealed that they were VERY rancid. The odor (stench really) was so strong it almost made me gag and I had a mouth full it! We told the server, she took them away. Another dish she brought out (we don't know what it was, we didn't order it) was supposed to make up for the foul samosas. It didn't. We stirred it around in the bowl and it was just so unappealing that we didn't touch it. The butter chicken had clearly been from frozen and still was barely edible. We both had the distinct impression it came from a can. Overall one of the worst dining experiences we've had. Filthy tableware, rotten meat portions and canned dishes are shameful. We caught a peek inside the kitchen and almost threw up. We left and they insisted on charging us for food a dog wouldn't eat. Never, ever again. Don't let the "grand ballroom" styling fool you. Tbis dump needs to be shut down, immediately. We are big fans of Indian food but this experience almost killed it for us. For real Indian food and an incredible treat, go to Maharani just a few blocks away. read more

This restaurant is absolutely disgusting! I was in complete awe when I witnessed what I had seen in my plate. A mistake like this isn't even made by rookie cooks or chefs only a complete moron who has no regards for human health especially when there is a god damn virus going around can do this. My plate of chicken biriyani was practically poisoned by this incompetent cook of your restaurant. He put raw chicken, not cooked chicken which was under cooked but an actual piece of chicken which he picked up from where ever he marinated the chicken and completely forgot the cooking step. Close your restaurant or hire new cooks who actually do their jobs, unbelievable. I will no longer come to this restaurant or your grocery ever again! This time we ordered several things from the menu to share and everything was great as usual!! This has become our regular go to spot for great nan, curries and biryani!! Hadn't checked the reviews before ordering through UberEats. Ordered 2 non-veg thali and pakora. Dishes arrived without the described vegetables and missing 1 of the 2 salads. The rice, naan, daal and chicken were tasty however the raita was very watery and lacking flavor. Pakoras were bleh. Caught between a 3 and a 4, but upped to a 4 because when I reported the missing veggies UberEats refunded the entire order cost and I felt that was unfair to the restaurant. Sorry guys. read more

Dera is by far the most beautiful restaurant in Parc Extension. The decor is airy and the tables are well laid out, you could hardly tell this used to be a bank. The food itself has vastly improved since they first opened, but still not up to par with the heavyweights on Jarry and Jea-Talon Street. The standout the last time were the Chicken Tikka, succulent breast freshly grilled. The Lamb Okra was re-heated (oil separated), but still tasty. We also had a lamb byriani, which was ok, (We wanted Pulao Rice, but was not on their menu, only saw it on blackboard when leaving). My Pakistani friend says his people love meat with bones stil on them, most dishes here give you a boneless and non-boneless option. He loved the lamb, I didn't care for it, I would prefer chicken dishes next time. The service is very distant, lowered gazes, almost no talking or interaction. It's a given here. The food used to be much worse (and much cheaper), when they first opened, so this is a restaurant going in the right direction. I know Pakistani food pretty well; grew up with it and have a mostly love/hate relationship with it. Dera is a decent restaurant in Park Ex and pretty cheap. We started with the pakoras, which were unusually shaped and had a ton of onions. It was lighter than other pakoras I've tried, but it was nowhere near as good. The saag is crazy delicious. It's unfortunate that they kinda plopped a tablespoon of butter on the very top before serving. It didn't need it and it certainly didn't look appetizing - they're lucky it's flavorful enough that I could overlook that. The butter chicken was bad. It's not a traditional Pakistani dish and their interpretation of it was poor. The oil was totally separated from the sauce. Also tried a fish dish that came on a hot plate with some other veggies. Simply ok. So it was a little bit of a hit/miss for me. The samosas are on point tho! I'd definitely go back for that with some saag an naan, because those are the real hits in my opinion. Big thumbs up for the service! Awesome server brought us some free desserts; a rice pudding, and an order of those dessert balls in the sweet syrup. It was too sweet for my tastes, but it's gestures like that that stand out. read more

I absolutely Love Dera me being a meat eater I always subconciously judge an Indian restaurant by their lamb biryani. Dera always seems to have a good consistency for lamb biryanis, with the good recipe for the biryani and the meat staying always tender so you can smell the curry from the rice. I also highly reccomend their brain masala, butter chicken and beef jalfrezi. A big highlight is their rice milk pudding which is perfectly made, extremely creamy with nuts and just a little tiny hint of rosewater. They have a big room for guests and the location not that hard to get around to at all. However, the Staff is a little all over the place. They are all girls serving in trolley trays, but most can decently communicate in english and french. Over all a great place for good Pakistani food. read more

Worst Experience twice, Waitress have high attitude and heard them back bites when an angry customer left. Use chicken boneless leg meat instead of chicken breast and worst part is the fats on the meat are not cleaned properly. Low taste, high charge and they dont care for customer satisfaction. Just now ordered on phone for 6 naan and after 25 min when I went there to pick up they say we shouldn't have taken this order bcz of rush hour and told me to wait another 10 to 15 minutes. Dera has a great location on St Denis Street. The food was pretty good, I ordered the beef and chicken kabob, rice, naan, and a yogurt drink. The service was quite slow though, which was unfortunate. My friends food came out much sooner than mine, and when mine did come it was not all at once. I hate to give them a 2 star, because I wad really looking foward to the experience, but the service just wasn't there for me on this experience. read more

Awful!!! I ordered food for take out this evening Spent approximately $50. Included in my order were 2 chicken baryani.. drove all the way home ready to serve the meal and both my order of baryani was spoiled!! They served me spoiled food! Mixed spoiled rice with new rice, when I opened the container it smelled funny but when I took the 1st bite I had to spit it out.. rotten food!! Someone needs to be fired! We took the chicken karahi, the paneer with mushrooms and biryani rice and honestly it was soooo delicious. The sauces were amazing. They can make the food mild or spicy according to ur taste. I came to reserve one day in advance for my birthday party and the lady there offered me a buffet for me and my guests for a good deal. When I came the next day, the lady wasn't there anymore and i spoke to the waitress about the deal. She told me that there's no such deals that exists like that, i told her she other lady told me and even asked permission from her manager. They told us okay sit down we will give your buffet. Me and my friends waited 4 HOURS, we were hungry, my birthday was ruined, the waitress was serving the rest of the people instead of us. They were laughing behind the counters, I had to go ask them for the food more than 3 times. My sister got mad and yelled at the lady because we did not even receive any water. After we waited, when we finally told them to forget about the buffet deal they bring us the normal menu at our table. It was the most horrible restaurant I have ever went to.
