An authentic Afghan/Pakistani/Indian restaurant just by the Jean Talon Market with a homy atmosphere and cheerful, friendly service. The place also delivers. A popular spot for families to enjoy a meal, hence the restaurant's delicious menu is best enjoyed family style with a few shared plates and some naan or kabuli rice on the side. My main dishes were the baigan masala, a great veggie dish with large chunks of eggplant in a spiced tomato sauce, the palak paneer, a classic creamy spinach and cheese cube dish, done well, and the afghan chicken karahi which was tender and full of flavour. Overall an outstanding meal. The plates aren't very large, but fairly priced and quickly prepared. A must try to sample some of the best of south Asian recipes in Montreal.

Relatively new small restaurant. When I ate here, it gave me a very homely type of feeling with the friendly service and the food. To dine in this place is small but if you don't mind, it's always best to eat the food fresh here rather than taking it home. The portions are small but the quality of the food and the taste does make up for it. Therefore, you wouldn't mind spending on a second portion. You can make the food from mild to as spicy as you'd like. Check out the pictures if you'd like to get an overall idea of what it's like to eat here.

Would definitely be a regular if I lived in the area but would absolutely recommend people to come here!!! Have never been a huge fan of Pakistani/Indian food (even though I'm Pakistani) due to several factors. One being that I've grown up on this food so it's not very exciting. Second being that most Indian/Pakistani restaurants are usually not very tasty. In the sense that you can't taste the meal you're ordering. Also majority of the places will add a ton of seasoning, salt, and meat tenderizer that all the food tastes the same (different restaurants, different cities... Crazy right???). However, this place has given me one of the best experiences of my life. The whole tandoori chicken aka Lahori Charga was excellent. Seasoning, chewiness, juiciness, serving size, and price were all perfect. The server spoke Urdu and English, not sure about French since none of the party I was with spoke it either. Very hard working guy and was very helpful even after working alone! Without hesitation I would recommend people to come here.

It's towards the top of Old Montreal so we had a nice walk to and from the restaurant. We were greeted by the host and sat down immediately. The restaurant inside was very pretty and had low lighting to make it look very intimate. I'd definitely consider Veranda a fine-dining Indian restaurant. We ordered the samosa tarts and malai chicken tikka from the appetizers and both were absolutely delicious! We also ordered mango lassi, butter chicken, and garlic naan (all automatic orders for us when we go to Indian restaurants) and none of them disappointed. However, we were a little disappointed that they didn't have a few menu items that we see back home or at other Indian restaurants like onion bhaji, pakora, biryani and tandoori chicken. The only complaint we had was the service wasn't that great. Our order was taken a few minutes after viewing the menu and the staff was very friendly but after we finished our appetizers, we felt neglected as other tables were served their food and we were waiting 25-30 minutes to get served our main dish. We had to let the server know that we were done our appetizers and ready for the main dish. I'm not sure if this is normal in Montreal or at Indian restaurants in Montreal? Other restaurants we were served our courses immediately one after the other, with maybe 5-10 minutes in between. It wasn't busy either for a Wednesday night where they only had 3-4 tables. Regardless, we would recommend Veranda to anyone craving Indian food who wants to eat in Old Montreal! The food is delicious!

They have quite a bit of variety on the menu and it was difficult to choose but I finally decided on the sampler platter and my mom ordered a dish with black chickpeas. The black chickpeas are typically spicy but they toned it down for her and it was perfect. My sampler had six small dishes and a dessert with rice in the middle. Every dish was better than the last and the dessert was perfect, not too heavy. The service was very attentive, friendly. The restaurant seems very clean and had a cozy and comfortable ambience. I'm no longer in Montreal, I will return here when I am back and I have already told my Montreal friends they must try this place.

Having eaten great Indian food throughout the U.S., (including many times at my Indian friends home,) and in India, would have to say the food was great! Ordered from our friendly waitress their flavorful Masala Tea to accompany my main course, the Chef's Special Lamb Curry, which included a wide variety of other components, plus two extra Tandoori Chicken drumsticks to share with my nephew. Took a taste of my family's starters, the Channa Samosa (which was covered in Curried Chickpeas) and Masala Dosa - both excellent. My Lamb Curry was a superb combo plate that also included a leg of Tandoori Chicken, Curried Chickpeas, Raita, Salad, Rice and Naan - providing an exceptional mix of complementary flavors and a good value like everything at Maison Indian Curry. All in all, I'd recommend Maison Indian Curry and will return here on a future trip to Montréal when Indian is the cuisine of choice!
