What a beautifully laid out, inviting, community resource for this county! If a child can sign their name and anyone who wants one, can get a library card here to access the multitude of resources including the vast selection of music on the second floor. The second floor also has private, comfortable rooms that can be reserved for studying and white board pull outs for meetings or classes. The children's section has computers, a vast array of wonderful titles for every interest, is colorful and inviting for the youngsters. The personnel are friendly, welcoming and resourceful- this is a model of a fantastic public library!!

Now renovated and reopen!

It's true - the San Ramon Library is back and brighter and shinier than ever! And the wait was not for naught. The most visible change is the new sign and entrance on the Bollinger Canyon side. Inside, the SR Library now makes full use of its two floors and has changed the layout somewhat (but getting yourself reoriented is just a quick 5 min tour, or a quick question). The circulation desk is now an actual circle in center court, the checkout machines look like Eve's (from Wall-e) brethren, and you can even rent laptops for use during your stay. New arrivals are located just in front of the entrance and the used books for sale have a more official looking residence on the bookshelves where the previous checkout desk was. This humble locale still maintains its small-town feel, but its much more amenable to long sits and study sessions now. Every table has outlets on the table, and there are several private study/listening (for the music albums) rooms upstairs and two group study rooms downstairs. The upgraded kids area will provide a solid 30 min of distraction for any hands-on tot, if not more. Even with the small size, I've always felt pretty satisfied with the selection offered here, and if you put in an order via the regional library system online you'll usually be able to access any book you need. Granted you're not looking for your chemistry professor's PhD thesis. Bottom line, I totally wish this was the library I had back when I was in high school. But I'm really glad that it's here now for the community to take advantage of!

Easy check out!

After a $6.48 million makeover, the San Ramon Library reopened in April 2017. The San Ramon Library is a vital center of community activity. The library is located in the Marketplace shopping center (right next to Buffalo Wild Wings) across the street from Central Park and the San Ramon Community Center. The library includes a large children's area with a separate story room, teen area, public access computers and FREE wireless Internet access. Collections include materials in a variety of formats that support the educational and entertainment needs of the community. Programs for children, teens, and adults are provided with the support of San Ramon Library Foundation. San Ramon is particularly proud of the jazz collection and annual jazz concerts. You can park throughout the Marketplace shopping complex. Additional parking is available across the street in the City Hall and Central Park lots. Four spaces designated for visitors with disabled license plates or parking placards are directly in front of the library. Six spaces in front of the library are designated as "book drop only" for customers that are dropping off materials. Please be aware of posted restrictions in front of other Marketplace buildings. All parking is free.

My favorite library in the area. Doesn't offer as many study tables as Dublin, but the hours are longer.

I had no idea San Ramon had a community college! My review is for the general facility and…read moreamenities. DVC-San Ramon is one of several places to make online appointments for the vaccine in Contra Costa County for ages 16+. LOCATION and PARKING The main admin building is on East Campus, right off Watermill Rd. Follow the traffic circle and signs toward parking for COVID19 vaccines. I wound up parking near the Dougherty Station Library and Acorn Learning Center, which is a short walk to the main entrance. APPOINTMENT LINE They'll line you up outside every 6-feet in groups according to your appointment time that you got from the Contra Costa County Health Services "Mychart" app. Very organized and they had two volunteers/staff members there to give instructions and answer questions. REGISTRATION This is in one of the rooms with over half-dozen stations where they'll ask for you ID and insurance card. One scary thing is that they may ask for SSN and Mother's Maiden Name. Yikes. I would recommend declining to answer. Afterwards, my cousin who's a pharmacist said this info is for folks without insurance. The clinic needs to recover costs by billing the government. But still, SSN is a bit too sensitive. They didn't ask me but I did hear folks at other stations get asked. VACCINES This is done in a separate room, and the nurse I had was great - funny and good at putting you to ease. I got the Pfizer vaccine and the process is quick and painless. All those daily Turkish Getups really beefed up my shoulders, LOL. OBSERVATION The last part of the process is to pick one of the "classrooms" and just hang out for 15 mins before leaving. Each room had a nurse who will wipe down the chairs as folks leave. They also have an oxygen tank just in case. Overall a pretty smooth process and well-run operation. Lines moved quickly. The nice thing is your second vaccine appointment is automatically scheduled for you, although you can use the Mychart app to change if needed. 3-6 weeks needed for Pfizer, while 4-6 weeks out for Moderna.

Don't underestimate the faculty at DVC simply because it's a community college. A lot of the professors here are research experts in their discipline, coming from prestigious universities like UC Berkeley. Some of them realize how important it is to fulfill education within CC students as well. I feel that I've made closer, supportive relationships with DVC professors compared to my professors at UCSB. I highly recommend visiting this campus if you want intrapersonal connections with your peers and mentors as it's a tight knit, small campus compared to the one in Pleasant Hill. Additionally, my tuition for the first two years was reimbursed including a lot of school expenses compensated for through the COVID-19 emergency grant which they no longer do. Going to DVC has saved me so much money, regained my confidence in higher education, and gave me the opportunity to meet great people, find my higher potential, and transfer into one of my dream universities. Even though I spent only 1 quick semester in-person due to COVID, I had an awesome experience. I am truly grateful for the time I had at DVC and now that I graduated with a bachelors I reflect on this. If I ever want to take any class for fun or take prerequisites for grad school, med school, law school etc. I could always come back here! High school students, people who would like to switch careers, this is the place to be!

1 of 2 Yelp reviews…read more Quality/Quantity - One of the "newer" cities. One of the nicer master communities (IMO). I remember when you started all those golf course master communities, etc. Things to do and see in San Ramon: If you love nature - Mt Diablo, Diablo Range, San Ramon Valley, Las Trampas Regional Wilderness, Forest Home Farms Historic Park, Bishop Ranch Regional Preserve, Bridges Golf Course, Canyon Lakes Golf Course & Brewery, San Ramon Golf Club, etc. 2014 - City center is still my favorite part of the city. 350k square feet! Beautiful space, plenty of restaurants, a brewery (Fieldworks), etc. Atmosphere - See above. 18.72 square miles, 0.03 of which is water. 2020 census population of 84.6k. Largest employers are - PG&E, Chevron (I believe they are moving, if they have not moved already), Robert Half International, BMO Bank, etc. Service - Good, they cater to a slightly more affluent customer. It also depends on what you do, eat, or drink. Price - Reasonable. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1983.

So I've lived in San Ramon for the past three years now, so I think I've got a fair grasp of what…read moreit's like living here. These are just my opinions on what it's been like. I'll start with the Pro's: -It's safe. Really one of the few cities left in the Bay Area where it feels like you can walk around in public and not be scared of being a victim of a crime, or worry that your car will be broken into for zero reason. -It's a clean city. You won't find streets or really any areas that have been taken over by trash or encampments here. -Public services are really good. The libraries are really nice. Lots of parks and sports things to take advantage of (skateparks, tennis courts, soccer fields, etc). Plenty of trails through the hills as well. Post office is really efficient. As for the Con's: -Driving through San Ramon is actually a nightmare for no other reason than the traffic lights and terrible drivers. It's like their city planner decided on pure chaos when they engineered the traffic lights here. They somehow managed to make it so that you will hit every red light possible. You'll have a main road with a 50 mph speed limit, and it'll take you 20 minutes to drive 3 miles, because you'll spend 15 of those minutes stopped at a red light. The problem is that their lights both have zero communication with one another, and the side streets take priority over the main roads. Stopped at a red light at one intersection? Be prepared to stop at a red light 100 yards down the street. What's the point of a 50mph speed limit if you're just stop and go every block (looking at you here Bollinger Canyon Rd). Single car just pulled up from a side road? Boom, instant red light for the main road. The lights linger as red's for so long as well. It's super common to get stopped at a red light, notice that zero cars have moved for the last 15 seconds, think to yourself "why is this even a red light", wait 10 more seconds, and then finally one of the lights will turn green and a direction of traffic will move, but usually not yours. -For some reason San Ramon has these walking trails that cut through main roads of the city, so you'll have a main road with 50+ cars stopped for one pedestrian that has suddenly decided to cross the road. Like, your city is rich enough, just build a bridge for the pedestrians. For example, there's one of these a few blocks away from The Lot. Massive and busy downtown shopping area, and you're going to have a pedestrian trail stopping all traffic for one person walking. It's absolutely dumb, especially when there's both crosswalks for normal pedestrians to use at regular traffic lights just a few yards away, and there's already 3 regular traffic lights just between Alcosta Rd to The Lot. You don't need that extra one just for a trail. -The drivers here are bad. I've lived in the Bay Area nearly every year of my 34, and San Ramon has the worst of any city I've ever been in. A very solid portion of drivers here are afraid of the speed limit, and will drive 10 to 15 mph below it. Others are just actually bad, like lane changes without any care for who's next to them, stopping in the middle of the road, or they're glued to their phones. Here in San Ramon, you will definitely have a Tesla cut you off, brake check you, and drive 10 below the speed limit. In other cities, you'll maybe encounter someone like this on the road somewhat commonly, but here in San Ramon it's about 25% of the drivers. -So expensive. I get it, cause it's a very safe spot in the Bay Area, but housing and rentals should not be this much for what you get. Food and groceries run pricier than the norm too. -If you've got any sort of color to your skin, you're more than likely to run into some sort of racism at some point in this city. It's a very rich city with people who like to act rich, and it leans conservative. So be prepared for the microaggressions. And the Mid's -Restaurants are so middle of the road. Most of the restaurants are just okay, not good and not bad. There's Marugame Udon and a Philz. Hooray? Orient Express and MJ Sushi are some of the more hidden gems in terms of food here. A lot of the restaurants here are designed for people who think Chipotle is ethnic food, so take that for what you will. -Somewhat central Bay Area location is fine. San Jose is half an hour away. Oakland is 45 minutes. The City is about an hour away. Could be better, and could be lots worse. -Weather is fine. Way hotter than the rest of the Bay. But, it's the Bay Area and it's better than 90% of the rest of the country anyways so I can't complain much. In all, it's a decent spot in the Bay Area to live. Haven't minded it too much the last 3 years.
