After the first session it became clear that it wasn't only our dog getting trained but also my wife and I. Shelly took the time to recommend training that made sense for our lifestyle and our dog and after the first 2 sessions we were already seeing incredible results. Shelly has an incredible amount of patience which brought peace to us and our dog. I'm so proud to report that we've been able to bring the barking to a minimum while also improving our dogs well being overall. No more struggling with claw marks and fur all over the tub, shaken water on my bathroom ceiling, and every towel I own in a dripping wet pile on the floor. The place was nice and clean and very empty on a Tuesday afternoon. A super sweet girl was working there, and sat on the floor to help coax my shy shaking puppy in. She had my puppy inside the door and wagging her tail in no time! There's a large movable staircase for the dogs to climb up into the baths, but my dog was too fearful to attempt the stairs so with the attendant's help we lifted her up into the bath. You can hook your dog as tightly as you want to the edge of the bath, and everything you need is within reaching distance. A nice high powered sprayer, shampoo, conditioner, ear cleaners, even dog cologne! I especially liked the little rubber latherer to scrub her with and the specialty deshedding brush. There are plenty of towels and a forceful blow-dryer. (Although the air in the dryer was cold and I wish it had been warmer). The cost for my medium size dog was just under $20, but I was told that on Wednesdays between 4 and 6 is half price dog washing. Awesome, I will try that next time!

In the 11 years I've had my dog she's never had a matted hair issue to require a shave down, yet two weeks ago Dirty Dog shaved her face down without asking first. When my husband went to pick her up they told him her fur was matted and they needed to shave her face. I honestly don't know how this could have been the case because we had just given her a bath two weeks prior in anticipation of our newborn's arrival. She looked completely unrecognizable and had a missing patch of fur on each side of her face. Which leads me to believe the groomer made a mistake and had to minimize the damage by shaving her down. I have tried to address this with the store directly but they have been unresponsive. Unfortunately I had to leave Sophie out of our family pics because I didn't want to look at the pics for years after and be upset that she was so unrecognizable. My tip to all customers is to be very specific before you leave your dog and tell them you need a phone call before they make a drastic cut on your behalf.

We are responsible for speaking on their behalf. I was a customer of The Acre over the course of the month of June 2024. I chose them based on their google reviews, followed their suggestions for onboarding, and ultimately lost our dog due to my decision to place her in their care. My experience with the staff at The Acre has been distressing. They have proven to be more concerned with maintaining their rating on this site than they are with admitting and correcting the wrongs that ended my precious dog's life. Barret and Madelyn (who run The Acre) have not been able to tell me when Wendy went missing or from where on the property. They have placed the blame for this event on an anonymous scapegoat, shirking any responsibility themselves. I believe that every action they've taken to find Wendy has been in their own self-interest, informed especially by the way they are handling deeply justified, relevant, and necessary criticism of their safety protocols. Need I remind you, my dog is dead and they were the last people to see her. If I were them, I would not spend my energy attempting to hide this fact from the public, but working to drastically raise the standard of safety at The Acre. They put on a good show, but that is all it is- a show. It is my strong opinion that The Acre is not a safe place to leave your animal. I wish desperately that I had taken a more critical eye to this place and the people who run it before leaving my dog with them, and I beg you to do the same.

When I called to schedule an evaluation, the manager (Jennifer, I believe) strongly encouraged me to go ahead and book the holiday dates. In hindsight, this was likely just to secure our money (more on their refund policy in a moment). I specifically asked if my deposit would be refunded if my dog didn't pass the evaluation and was told yes. What was not made clear to me over the phone: they do not issue refunds. Ever. They only "credit" your account for future services. I wouldn't mind this if I were already a client, but I've never sent my dog here, and at this point he hadn't even been evaluated. About an hour after booking the evaluation and boarding (and putting down deposits for both), I found reviews on Yelp and Reddit, and a news article, stating that a dog had died here due to alleged negligence about a year ago. Out of safety concerns, my partner immediately called to cancel everything. Only then were we fully informed of their real refund policy and told that our $600+ deposit would not be returned, but instead would sit as a "credit" on an account for a facility we would never send our dog to after what I learned. And when we brought up the incident, the business placed the blame entirely on the dog owner. Let me be clear: I am not posting this because of my safety concerns or the alleged incident. I'm posting this because I truly feel we were scammed. They intentionally avoided explaining their refund policy over the phone to secure payment from us. I feel completely taken advantage of. The Acre never clearly disclosed their refund policy when speaking to me and made no effort to ensure I understood it before booking. If you're considering the Acre, please make sure they provide full, upfront transparency around their refund policy before you hand over any money. This entire experience has been an absolute nightmare. And no, my credit card company was not able to dispute the charge.

Victor is phenomenal! I needed to board Gio, this year for Christmas and I decided to go back to Kanine Kaliber; they do boarding as well. Again, Victor is great! Very informative, VERY knowledgeable about dog behavior and what I love is that he treats your dog as if it was his own. Even after a year, he was still giving me pointers on Gio's training. He called me to tell me that my Gio wasn't eating. He had already tried different solutions to help him eat before he called me. After speaking with him and brainstorming the issue, realized my dog's food was different. Same brand and formula, except the one I bought to take to the facility, didn't have the shredded chicken pieces in it. And since I hadn't left town yet, I was able to bring over the food I had at my house. I called the next day and I was happy to know that he was eating.
