It didn't smell very clean either. After seeing that poor dog shivering & kennel dark I would never leave my dog here. It was one big closed up kennel that was dark & cold. The doors to the kennels stay closed during the day when staff is gone from what was told to us, it would be nice if they would be left open so the dogs can walk in and out, be able to see outside. The large yard space is nice, but the place just didn't seem right for my dog.

I got to chatting with Shai about my dog's horrid shedding and bad experiences we have had with past groomers. She suggested I get an appointment with her so she could take care of it for us. I gave it a try. Gruene Gables is so clean and the staff is friendly. Shai came out to see what I wanted done with Max and took him back. It was nice for Max to see a familiar face, so that eased some of his anxiety about "dog places". A few hours later, Max came out looking like a new boy! I swear he was so clean he sparkled a little. Shai went above and beyond my husband and I's expectations! He has never looked, felt or smelled so good before (and none of that nasty perfume spray)! He even had a confident strut to his walk. During that call they will try to sell you a "play package", as an upgrade. They do not tell you on the phone, or on their website, nor do they mention it in their reservation email, that there is a mandatory Bronze "play" package added on for an additional $15. I declined any such services, because my dog was going to be there for less than 24 hours. Nevertheless, they charged me $30 extra. Furthermore, the "playtime" notes claimed that they played fetch with her. My dog does not play fetch. She is very possessive about the ball, so if you manage to get possession of it and throw it, she will gladly chase it to get it back, but she will not voluntarily give it back. I strongly doubt they played with her at all.

Victor is phenomenal! I needed to board Gio, this year for Christmas and I decided to go back to Kanine Kaliber; they do boarding as well. Again, Victor is great! Very informative, VERY knowledgeable about dog behavior and what I love is that he treats your dog as if it was his own. Even after a year, he was still giving me pointers on Gio's training. He called me to tell me that my Gio wasn't eating. He had already tried different solutions to help him eat before he called me. After speaking with him and brainstorming the issue, realized my dog's food was different. Same brand and formula, except the one I bought to take to the facility, didn't have the shredded chicken pieces in it. And since I hadn't left town yet, I was able to bring over the food I had at my house. I called the next day and I was happy to know that he was eating. I really need to pay more attention to the bag next time. I'm grateful for Victor. If you need a dog trainer or a place to board your dog, I HIGHLY recommend Kanine Kaliber and Victor.
