Don't sleep on your local bookstores! We participated this morning in a group walk and afterward, of course we had to stop into the bookstore! It's basically the law - you're in San Marco square, you go to San Marco book store. The book selection is ever evolving so there is always some new treasure to discover among the stacks. And often, I find books in there less expensive than Amazon. And there is a selection of books with author signatures as well, for no additional cost. Some of the signed ones have been ordered from the publisher, but a good portion of those come from live author events the book store participates in. There are so many wonderful events you can attend here, like the author signings mentioned above (and of course a slew of other things) And often, those authors will sit for a chat. I discovered a new favorite author when I accidentally stumbled into one of those events. It was neat to hear her discuss her book and answer some great questions. The. Store is also very involved in the community around them which I love. (The owner even participates in the group walks in the area sometimes!) They also partner with the library for some larger author signings and other events. If you love reading, this is a must visit! read more

Very cute interior. They have a wide variety of books from old to new. They also have fan-fare favorite items. I purchased some thoughtful note cards. The clerks were very helpful in pointing me in the right direction. They even had two local authors there showing off their books. Highly recommend to check it out. read more

A wonderful surprise find was this bookstore. They have lots of books of all kinds there. I personally loved that Harry Potter got his own section for not only books. They had games and other collectible items in the Harry Potter section. They may have that book you been looking for but cannot seem to find. read more

This book store was charming and welcoming (and NOT MUSTY, thank goodness!) like an independent bookstore should be! My eyes lit up while perusing the book stations and sections highlighting each genre. Kids in the front and classics against the left wall. My 8 yr old niece and my 12 yr old daughter were enthralled as well. Front and center, there was a vibrant Harry Potter section, as well as a prominent placement of all of the new, contemporary lit books that all avid readers talk about. They had so many cute gifts including literary themed socks (my fav) and the customer service was awesome. We were asked if we needed help and left to our book surfing curiosities. I loved it here! Items were reasonably priced and my only gripe would be MORE POETRY! And not just classic poets like Plath and Frost but spoken word poets and non-commercially sensationalized ones! (Yes Amanda Gorman and Rupi Kapur and Maya Angelou are awesome but what about the recent national and state poet laureates to start!? And the 2024 Grammy nominated poets!?) I could have spent a lot more time (and money) on a rainy Friday afternoon in this cute little San Marco book lovers nook, but I had two kiddos with me who were hungry ! We left with a Mary Oliver poetry Journal for me, a pair of Edgar Allan post socks for me, and a graphic novel for my eight-year-old niece. Another review giving it to you Straight no chaser! Love the storefront! Loved the interior book displays--absolutely beautiful store. My only drawback would be the cold reception from the front desk. Maybe the lady working on Wednesday, February 25 was having a bad day but it certainly wasn't from being busy there were only two of us in the store and then when two more people walked in she was rude to them as well so you might want to take a look at improving Customer Service to match the quality of your shop. read more

I absolutely loved coming into this bookstore! It has many vintage books (which you don't see too often) but also had a kids section and books that are currently popular! Also, the smell of books in here is incredible. They also have such cute stands of bookmarks and other small goodies. read more

Their selection is huge. This store has been in this location for many years and have served many people in Jacksonville Florida. I came in a few days ago to buy a book in advance to Kara Joseph's Book signing of her new book, "If Wine Could Talk". The event was yesterday, Thursday 09/23/21. They served wonderful wine for us to pair up with some food from Town Hall and Prati Itaila. I was early and had a chance to get my newly purchased book from the store. Kara signed it for me. We also took a few picture and made a YouTube video. Thanks going out to San Marco Bookstore for being great! They can get almost any book that you might need. The employees are wonderful and the store itself has a lot of great selections. They have a wonderful children's section of books as well. Keeping doing what you're doing. Great job! San Marco Bookstore hosted our Women's Writing 4 a Change Book Launch this weekend! Awesome! We had a socially distanced event outside where we were able to pick up our journals outside, which was great! I picked up my book - I have two poems published in this awesome book! I bought a journal from the bookstore to support the store and a tee-shirt to help Women Writing 4 a Change, and of course, a copy of the book with my poems in it! Awesome-ness! read more

I have been here twice. Once was when they did the book event at the library and had a pop up shop. I was excited because I didn't know there was a bookstore in the San Marco area. So I went and explored the pop up shop. The book choices were just okay. The customer service? No one approached me in the 20 minutes I was there, I left empty handed. I visited the actual store location a couple months ago and the same thing, an okay selection of books and no customer service. read more

Well me in a book store is a rarity to say the least. But, I was on a mission and this was the only way that I was going to complete my quest. The Food Truck book is out and there was no way that I was the first one. Something about the author getting the first copies. I walked in (get this) right when they opened and they didn't have any more copies. The nice lady behind the counter told me that they are expecting some more in soon. Maybe tomorrow or Monday. San Marco Bookstore is such a charming place. It is relatively small, just a little shop in the middle of the San Marco Square, with old, used books lining the narrow aisles. I have come here so many times just to browse. I love checking out all the old history books [some great finds on Jacksonville's history!] and the vintage coffee table books. The selection for reading is kind of scattered, but if you are open minded you can surely find something you want to read. They also have a lot of nice knick-knacks towards the front of the store that are always fun to check out, as well, and make for great gifts. Its a used bookstore, in my world you atleast say hi welcome can i help you kiss my ass - something! I walked around forgetting about them and looking at books - problem was at the end of each isle (the store is really small and tightly orgranized with high wooden shelves------- serious waste of a nice shop) anyway at the end of each isle I was back at the desk - never once did they speak.
