Scam! Do not trust this place. I was forced to write the original review. The owner took my phone and started writing the review and forced me to write a 5 star review. The asian guy that works there is very nice but the middle eastern guy scared me. The real cost of this place is $55 for a standard car. Do not be fooled by the prices listed on yelp. Most places charge once and let you come back for free to finish the smog test. This place charged me an additional $20 to come back. Then they tried to charged me $30 to send it to the DMV. They told me that for me they will give me a special price of $20. I told them these other charges are not normal. I have never heard of smog check with additional fees. This place blackmailed me into additional charges. If you want to feel safe do not support this place. This is not the way to do business in America. read more

San Leandro Smog is the place to go To test for your dmv smog air flow the place is fast, a little hard to find but look for the burger kind, cuz it's right behind the dude is cool, service is quick for all future tests, to here will I stick. Not much to say, guy is nice, the service was really fast ('bout 20 min). There was no line, and didn't look like this place was too busy on a Sat afternoon which is great. Waiting room is sparse, but you're not there for long so it's cool. Nice thing, like what other reviewers said, it's really close to Costco, so it's kinda convenient. The price for a sedan is about $60-70, reasonable for what's out there. Drove from Alameda because everywhere else was a rip off. read more

I had read up on a few reviews before calling in, so I kind of knew what was going to transpire during my phone call. I called in late afternoon one day asking for the cost, and the manager had picked up the phone and asked me what I wanted to pay. I've never gotten a smog test before so I was basing the cost off other places that advertised their coupon or sales price. He said my offer was too low and asked for $10 higher. We negotiated and came in between our two amounts. He wanted me to come in right away and said he wanted to see me today and not tomorrow. I just awkwardly laughed off his weird comment. I went the next day and found out the manager only works elsewhere and the calls goes to his office. What happened to wanting to see me?! Lol. The technician there asked me what the guy offered on the price and asked for what date and time I called. The testing was quick and as there was no one else there at the time. He sent my information to DMV and within a week, I received my new registration. I got a good price and was able to get in and out fairly quick. I'd go back here for my next smog test. read more

These guys are great and they are very conveniently located next to Costco. You don't need appointments just get up and go they open every day except Sunday. I was very pleased with the entire process, especially after being disappointed with a no-show by a competitor. I called this company to discuss and agree upon the price for the Certificate, State Fee, and Electronic Transmission to the State, and was charged what we agreed upon in advance. Richard took my call and offered a reasonable price for everything, and the next day Erik did the work and charged accordingly. Called ahead and was given an appointment time. We needed an out of state car to be smogged for change of title. We were seen exactly at our appointment time. The smog was done in roughly 20 minutes; very efficient and convenient. The business was practicing and enforcing social distancing protocols and the employees were all wearing their masks. Although the main location is by the Costco off Davis, he sent us to their other location at the 76 gas station off E14 & 150th. D'oh, why didn't I read the reviews before I bought the "$29 for $72 Deal?" I bought the voucher thinking that would cover everything. I ended up paying an additional $26 for the smog test and the certificate?! The nice owner pulled out a piece of scratch paper with scribbled digits to explain the charges with the voucher discount but it didn't make sense to me. So if you are looking for a really cheap Smog test for $29 then this isn't your place. If you are looking for a quick smog check for a decent price with a nice owner then come here. The person picked on the phone said $40+$8 cert. she asked if I was coming in today, and I said, "no, I'm still calling around for quotes." "What can I do to earn your business?" "$30+cert" So I went in for a $38 STAR smog check and it took 5 minutes. If I had to do it again, I'd talk her down to $30 with cert included. read more

I needed a smog check so I came to Yelp and found this place. Yelp said they have a $30 deal so I called in and make sure they still had the deal going on. I told them what my car model is and they told me not get the Yelp deal and just go to them straight. I went to the shop and there was an Asian man working there and said the Smog Test is $30 but the Certificate to send to the DMV is another $8.25. I was not aware the $8.25 so I was like its fine. While he was preforming the Smog Test, I went and chat with other customers and see how much they are getting charged and found out another lady is paying around $68 for a Smog Test + Certificate which I found surprisingly high as our car model is similar. My conclusion is if this is your first time doing a Smog test for your car, I suggest you compare prices with a few other shop as I believe the price is definitely negotiable so you do not get ripped off. I also have to mention when I paid for my Smog Test, the Asian man who was working there told me not to share my quote price with other people. I believe this is because they can't rip them off for people who have never done a Smog Test before. Overall, I got in and out in about 20 minutes. However, please do your best research and know the Smog Test + Certificate price for your car. read more
