Pro tips if you must use them... -1st, Take your own photos of your car before you check it in. -2nd, do not waste your money on their vending machines, walk your self over to the dealership side where they have a ton of really good complementary snacks. Took my car in to the San Leandro service center on Saturday after receiving a letter and email about an open recall issue that needed to be fixed. I was aware of the recall so I made an appointment to bring the car in. In exchange for bringing the car in to repair the recall item, I was offered a free oil change and multi point inspection which was right on time because I was long overdue for it. Rob McClure was my service advisor along with a new trainee (Jordan- I believe)....both exemplified great customer service and really made me feel welcome. I did ask if they could rotate the tires as well since that service was overdue and I'd pay for it but Rob said they would take care of it for me. Wait time was about a few hours but that's to be expected. I came prepared with snacks and a book. There's also a Valero gas station next door if you need to get snacks while you wait. I brought the car in at 8:15 and was out by 11:20 with a car wash too. I paid nothing out of pocket and I was shocked because my experience at Dublin Nissan is ALWAYS the opposite. I've been taking my car to Dublin since 2018 for the regular required maintenance but over the course of a few years, I walk away spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars after being convinced certain maintenance is necessary. Last time, I took the car in to Dublin- they tried to tell me my brake pads were so worn out that it would be dangerous to drive the car another day and wanted me to shell out thousands to repair which I didn't have. Mind you, the car's brakes weren't even squeaking or giving me any indicator they were bad. They even tried to qualify me for some credit program they have- I will not be taking out loans to pay for my cars needs. All I need is a reliable mechanic and I can buy my own parts- I just don't have a mechanic yet. Fast forward, I declined the service. After talking to Rob at San Leandro, he said that although the brakes will need some attention soon- it's not dire and they are completely fine for now. This review is for the Nissan/Kia service center located on 2085 Wayne Ave. Honestly, I don't think they check anything that is sent to them via their website. I sent them a message via their website for a cost estimate for servicing my Nissan, but got no response. I booked an appointment for first thing in the morning on their website and entered all my information. When I got there a nice lady came out to my car with a clip board. She asked me if I had an appointment and asked my contact information and servicing details, but I figure she would've already known if she referenced my online reservation which had all of my info. This leads me to believe they don't check the reservations made on their website. If that's the case, I could've just as easily just drove in on the same day without a reservation and lied and said I had an appointment to snag an early appointment time. Since this is during Covid, I guess there are certain procedures. After taking my car, they didn't say anything to me. I just stood there. I thought I would head into the cashiers office and wait for the service team to give me my paperwork. I had to ask them for direction and they told me I should wait in the waiting room and they'll text me when it's my turn. It would have been good customer service to furnish their procedures rather than the customer having to ask. The guys at the service desk inside, who helped with my paperwork were nice, as was the check out process. I think the people at the front of the house are nice. I just question the management's procedures. One of the good things of this place is that they offer complimentary Lyft service to/from the dealership in a 10-mile radius, with service. Now that I'm home I've discovered another problem. My engine is leaking fluid! I didn't have that issue before I brought it in and now I have to call back on Monday, take time out of my schedule and have them remedy this. UPDATE: It's Tuesday and they fixed my leak at no charge. It was a cracked gasket on the oil pan screw. They paid for my Lyft from the service, and back. tl;dr: I did get a partial price break for the hassle, but still, very very frustrating experience and I will have a hard time justifying coming back to this location. There must be a reason you can easily make appointments same-day here now. Previously, it would take weeks to make one. I booked a service appointment last Thursday (8/18), and showed up a few minutes before my time (~8:20am). The intake process was straightforward but the advisor did warn me it could take up to 3-4 hours for service, which I expected. The last few visits I'd shown up about the same time (for essentially the same service) but was pretty much out the door on my way back home around noon. I also waited at the dealership as I usually do, since I expected similar treatment. Fast forward to 11am, then 1pm...and the car was still not even in the queue to be looked at yet. The advisor didn't really give me any heads up, I had to consistently check in to get an update. I was eventually told my car got skipped in line due to some new Hertz rental cars needing to be serviced first (I did see a bunch of Hertz employees standing outside waiting). Obviously this was not mentioned to me at any point--if it was, I would have likely gotten a ride home (they offer free Lyft within 10 miles I think, which to be honest is a good deal, as there's very little wait time the few times I've used it) or just rescheduled. Not sure how that's fair, unless these cars just randomly showed up without advance notice, which I find hard to believe. I was left basically needing to come back on another day (during my work shift, mind you). I really needed the service before a trip the next day, but since I couldn't wait, I was forced to come back the following Tuesday. Cue the following Tuesday (still able to get an appointment immediately, mind you--ominous foreshadowing). Showed up about the same time and was guaranteed I'd be seen that day. Since I needed my brakes looked at too, I knew that would add some time to the clock...I wisely decided to get the ride home this time and wait. I did have to call around 12:30 for an update and was told I would "definitely" be done by 3pm. So like 7 hours for what I presumed to be fairly routine maintenance. Cure about 3:13pm and I'm told the brakes are basically shot and need replacing (front and back). While I know the advisor did provide a price break for the prior inconvenience, I still got charged like $2k (minus about $600 in discounts, per my invoice) for parts/labor on the brakes + maintenance visit...which I vetted through a couple people and know the brakes labor/parts were high. But I take full responsibility--I did not want to take the time to pick up the car, find a mechanic, get a quote, drop off and wait on the service, etc...so I authorized the repair. Could I have done better? Absolutely. Was I paying for the convenience? Of course. So was completely on me. They did call me around 8am the next day saying everything was done (I was told 50k services require more flushing of fluids, hence why the service itself takes longer). I tried calling ahead to advise them get the car washed before I arrived so limit my wait time (as I was still working from home at the same time), but no one picked up (I later found out there was a staff meeting at the same time as I called--I guess there's no backfill when this happens?) When I got there, I was forced to wait another 15-20 minutes for the car wash. This was an ancillary benefit and in hindsight, I should have just left without the wash, but since I was already up there, I decided to wait. Finally, a kindhearted employee named Felix saw my frustration of waiting (they had only one tech doing washes, apparently--my assumption is this place is understaffed on both the repairs/administrative side) and told me he'd wash the car itself. He ended up doing it and driving the car to me on his own. He was great, and should definitely be rewarded for that type of service, as he could have just told me to wait, as a lot of others did (another advisor was kind enough to assist in the meantime and did what she good to help me, but the lack of response she got from the service team for her queries was disappointing). So in short, I likely won't be back here. The excessive wait times, lack of updates, high pricing, and poor coordination/organization is enough for me to look at a third party for maintenance going forward, as my warranty is going to expire soon anyway. This place used to be super efficient and helpful, trying to get you out the door as fast as you came in, but now you'd be lucky if you can leave within 6 hours without dropping a whole paycheck here. read more

My car was seen a few weeks ago and Daniel was my service advisor who checked me in. I had an issue with my car leaking water and I wanted Nissan service to take a look at it to make sure it wasn't a problem with my car. I had an appt in the morning and left it there for the day. Daniel was very helpful in setting me up a Lyft ride to my office which was a nice Nissan incentive. I received a text from Daniel that afternoon to let me know my car was ready to be picked up and there was nothing wrong with it. I felt so relieved that it was checked and there were no issues. I've been to many auto mechanics, from dealerships, to national chains, to independents. Going here was by far the worst auto service experience ever. I don't need people at a service center to be overly friendly. What I do need are people who can communicate effectively and keep their customers informed of what's going on. I dropped off my car at my scheduled appointment time that I booked online. The first guy I talked to asked what service I wanted and told me to wait so I did. This started to raise some flags because with the online scheduling system, they already ask what type of service you want. I came back only to find my car still sitting in the lot and the paperwork to start the service wasn't even completed. At that point, all I wanted was an oil change and inspection. I waited over an hour and half but at no point during my stay did anyone indicate at all how long any service would take. Every other place I've been to, I at least get a phone call with an update. To top it off, the manager who was trying to make it up to me couldn't even connect my name to my car and called me the wrong name. Oh, and forget about COVID-19 precautions. Had the same experience as one of reviews here. I made an appointment for 11am, kept getting the reminder texts. I arrived at 10:30am and I told the employee I have an appointment at 11am. He asked me what I'm here for, which is an oil change and the usual stuff I get. I was also wondering why the online appointment system asks you all these questions when you make an appointment but it seems that the questionnaire did not matter. I was told it would take 1-1.5 hours to get the oil change done. I went for a walk and came back, noticed my car still sitting in the lot. 3.5 hours later, no update. I asked an employee but it took him awhile to get back to me. He said it should be about another 45 minutes. Had I known making an appointment would take over 4 hours to service my car, I would have gone somewhere. I felt like I wasted half my day waiting at the lobby. Brought my father in laws truck in to get his trucks ecm reprogrammed. The lady in the front desk said we would need to diagnosis it which would cost $205. We told her we just need to reprogram it. The truck was then held for a week and on the day we went to pick it up, the Foreman says, we can't reprogram the ecm because that software doesn't exist. We felt confused because if that was the case, then why didn't you guys just tell us before having us leave the truck there and we would of left. But instead they charged us $205 for something that they didn't do because it didn't exist. Never will I trust dealerships again. Will never be back here again. You have been warned. read more

The main reasons I brought my car here were these..... 1. Regular maintenance (oil change, blah blah) 2. Break lights weren't working properly. 3. It doesnt beep when locking the car ( I wanted that to be fixed) 4. The light tire pressure was on ( something was wrong with one of the tires). 5. The tires were worn out, I bet all of them need to be replaced. I told all of this to the young guy that greeted me and he also told me that a service advisor was going to call me in 30 mins. The service advisor called me 1hr and 40 mins later, (it wasn't 30mins). I went through every single point the car needed to be done. I requested the price of all the service including the tires change which I knew was going to be pricey and I needed to decided wether to go ahead or not. The service advisor told me I'll call you in 2 minutes. Hours passed by and he never called me. I tried to get a hold of the service advisor, to get a hold to any other service advisor, to get a hold of the manager but the receptionist tied my hands up saying nobody was able to take my call making me feel frustrated. Finally and miraculosly the manager called me to let me know the car was ready! What? Who approved the service? The service advisor never called me to give the price on the new tires much less of the over all price! Omg! At that time I knew something was wrong. When I came to pick my car up I found out they didn't change the tires. From all the points above they only performed the regular maintenance (oil change) and also fixed the brake lights. That was it! What they didn't do and what happened after picking up the car. 1. They said they fixed the tire pressure light but when I was on the freeway the light went on again meaning there's something still wrong with one of the tires. Does it have a nail in it? I don't know. How safe is driving a car like that? 2. They didn't change not even one tire when I told them... "I think all of them need to be changed". 3. The car is still not beeping when I lock it. (That wasn't fixed neither). They earned a 1 star review, they lost a lot of money because I didn't pay for the service they performed, they didn't get paid of several hundreds of dollars that the tires would cost and of course they lost a client. Sad! Awful service and awful lack of communication among the personal of this place. Stay away from these people! p.s. another clients also wrote.... This place is why people hate having work done at a dealership. I arrive for 9am appt w/ 5 issues: 1) engine rattle - PRIMARY 2) dead USB port- secondary 3) low air in rear tire 4) key fob not detecting 5) clock's wrong- I can't set it, because that's done thru factory stereo, & I have aftermarket sound. First 2 issues are what I came for, other 3 are more of a "well, since I'm here..." sitch. Rep goes thru estimate & says "it's $200 to diagnose the rattle, plus $200 to diagnose the usb issue...but I'll cut you a deal & only charge you 1/2: $100 to diagnose the usb issue. So, $354 is what we're looking at so far". Now, I shoulda just turned around & left right then, hindsight being 20/20. He's saying it's $354 just to TELL me what's wrong. Not to fix it, not for parts, just guidance as to "here's what you need to do to make these issues go away". But, it's early, I haven't had my coffee yet, & I'm already at the dealership, so...I leave my car & Guy tells me he'll call me at 1pm w/ an update/ ETA & then they get me a Lyft home. 1pm comes & goes w/ no call as promised, so I call THEM to get an update. Another rep (mine's on lunch) tells me they've just put my truck up on the rack. No other updates. No work's been done on engine, tire, usb, clock or key fob at this point. Great. 4 hours later & you guys have finally STARTED on my Nissan. Why not have me drop off at 12:30pm so I'm not carless for no reason? Whatever. Annoying. Hour goes by, ~2pm rep calls & confirms there's indeed a rattle noise coming from the engine. Ok, awesome. 5 hours later & you're calling to let me know that the reason I brought my SUV in in the first place at 9am, is not a hallucination on my part. It's nice to have validation. There's still been no work done on any of the 5 issues I came in for at this point, ZERO from 9am-2pm. Rep says he'll call me when they have more info. Frustrating. 90 mins later, 3:30pm, rep calls & says 1) they hear the rattle but can't tell where it's coming from. They suggest "engine tear down" (lord knows how much this costs, but it don't sound cheap) to identify the cause- I pass 2) USB port's indeed dead, but they don't have 1 in stock. It's another $60 to special order, then I gotta come back next week & pay another $50 to install it. 3) tire had a nail in it, they patched it 4) key fob was indeed just a dead battery, they replaced it 5) we both forgot about 5. Clock's still the wrong time. He tells me I can pick the car up, so I ask to go thru the charges: tire patch- $40, key fob battery- $10, usb "diagnosis"- $100 (no part, no fix, just "yep, it's broke"), & $200 for engine rattle diagnosis. $354. Wait, wut? "What rattle diagnosis? You just told me you couldn't identify the problem w/o an engine tear down". He's like "well yeah, we confirmed the rattle & made a recommendation for next steps, which is engine tear down". Bruh, seriously? You wanna charge me $200 to confirm the noise I've been hearing, the MAIN reason I even brought the car in in the 1st place is REAL? Uh, no. I'm like "you didn't 'diagnose' anything. You confirmed what I already knew: the engine rattles. You don't know why, any more than I did or do. You've had my vehicle for 7 hours+, you're charging me $150 to patch a tire (20 min job, $25-$40 most places), replace the battery in the key fob (2 min job, $10 or less for the battery itself) & to confirm that my USB port is dead w/o fixing it (for that, I need to come back & spend another $110 on parts & labor). So, I'm out 7 hours & $150 for 22 mins & $40 worth of work/ parts. & you wanna tack on ANOTHER $200 for work you haven't done? Nah. Guy's annoyed I'm pushin back & says "We spent a lot of time working on your vehicle, but fine, I'm not going to argue w/ you over $200". Ok. Cool. I'm glad $200 is no big deal to you (as I'm sure you guys are ripping people off like this all day every day, assuming they don't push back like I did...), but it is to me, even if just on principle alone. I've already been ripped off for 6.5hrs of my time & access to my vehicle & $100 (usb "diagnosis"), as far as I'm concerned. They send a Lyft to take me back, but my guy isn't around again when I arrive. Another rep closes me out, I pay the $150, grab my car which still rattles, doesn't have a working usb, & the clock is still wrong (this dawned on me as I pulled away). No apologies, no comps, no car wash, just a lotta wasted time & money w/ little fixed. If this is what Nissan San Leandro defines as "service" this joint needs a dictionary, & badly. Lesson learned: trust the gut & skip this dealership. read more

I would hate for anyone to have to go through what I have just to get my car back. I had been told things that were not true, had my calls avoided, and experienced delay after delay after delay. I've gone out of my way to be kind to every person I have spoken to. I wasn't pushy or aggressive and maybe that was to my own detriment. Incredible customer service at this dealership!! Everyone I spoke to was professional yet relaxed, good-natured, courteous and ready to help with any questions. The lounge was very comfortable and provided wi-fi and super espresso! They offered me a complimentary Lyft ride though I declined with appreciation. The one who deserves most credit is Juan Daniel. Mr. Daniel deserves a raise and a promotion as soon as possible for exceeding all expectations, informing me about repairs my car needs and generously helping me obtain an emergency oil change. To recap, I went in for an airbag recall repair and I left with a full heart and huge smile and most importantly a safer vehicle to drive. I feel informed as to what kind of condition my car is in and some options of how to resolve those concerns. Mr. Daniel treated me with the utmost respect, non-judgment for not know a lot about cars and the service was smooth, professional, helpful, kind and I was treated with the humanity that I often find is lacking when going to dealerships. I felt listened to and most of all cared for. That is the best customer service possible, in my opinion. I am a sales woman and I value this kind of professionalism. It is a rarity, though, I know the best salespeople are the most honest people out there. I got to experience this first hand and I am still pleasantly surprised this was such a positive experience. Whatever you do, DO NOT PURCHASE A SERVICE PACKAGE FROM THESE PEOPLE! It took me two months to get an appointment. When they sent they Lyft to pick me up, they put 2085 Wayne Ave, Oakland instead of San Leandro. I had to take another Lyft home and start over. When I got there, I stood around like an idiot, waiting for someone to help me. No one did, so I went into the office and stood there for a while. Eventually, I told the cashier about the Lyft mix up. She couldn't care less and went to talk to her Manager. She was gone for several minutes, when I received a phone call. The Service advisor that was ignoring me decides now is the time to start talking to me. The Manager didn't come out of his office and the cashier told me they would investigate it. Of course I haven't heard from anyone. So now they lose my keys and I'm standing in the cold for a half hour while one person looks for them. The shy Manager finally comes out with them. They eventually bring my car out and ask me if I wanted it washed. Uh, yes. Why didn't you do this sooner I was thinking. ANOTHER half hour later, my car arrives. No apologies, no Manager came to apologize, nothing. It took the better part of a day to get my oil changed and my tire pressure checked. Needless to say, I could have had this done in a half hour and not be made to feel like crap. If you want to be treated like garbage, ignored and basically humiliated, then yes, this is the dealership for you. 0 stars. I've been going to SL Nissan for a few years just before Covid and returned to have my Nissan Leaf have a routine maintenance and to fix my panel light issues. The communication was off and the process seemed a little different. I was a bit frustrated at not knowing what my estimate was and not being called when I was told someone would call me with details. It took an extra day to finish the job and no one called me to let me know till the following morning. No one would pick the phones either. I was able to connect with the service manager T and gave him some feedback. I also asked some of the folks and I think I understand. There is new ownership with lots of new folx in the front desk and with the phones. T was very open to my feedback and he knows that they will have to change. The service on my car was good and they fixed my panel lights. They need time to incorporate new systems with new people. I'm willing to give them a chance. It helped a LOT that T was listening to my feedback. read more

Daniel was the service rep who helped me. He was very attentive, and after everything was done I felt he was very thorough. He is a very honest straight forward young man with a lot of integrity. He literally helped me walk through the online procedure for Nissan's credit account to help pay my bill at the end of a long day for me where I couldn't focus. Outstanding job Daniel!!! When you deal with Daniel it feels like you're talking to a family member you trust. He is totally engaged and listens, but also gives his advice. Even after my visit I called him the next bay because I thought they missed something and he was ready to make everything right(I was mistaken). The Service department did a great job. Especially Daniel. You don't find many people with the professionalism and customer service driven attitude as Daniel exhibits. I hope Nissan keeps him and he deserves a raise. I have always had great service at San Leandro Nissan. However, today they went above and beyond to take care of my situation with my car. I went relatively early but had a deadline and fortunately for me, I could pull right up when I arrived. I mentioned the 3-4 things I needed, and was immediately helped, first, in Parts with Randy who was terrific. He switched out what I needed, sold me the other item I needed, and ordered the final item for me, which will be there as soon as tomorrow! He educated me about different aspects of the things I needed for my car to run, and I appreciate that. Then, there was Justin, Manager, who also explained a bit of what I needed to know, helped by attaching the parts that I had bought from Randy, and set me up with my next appointment for when the other part arrives. All of this could have been a headache, but it was a highlight of my day to deal with such kind and competent people, who know what they're talking about, and doing.
