I got a referral to San Jose Physical Therapy from my doctor for chronic right lower back and upper leg pain. Unfortunately, I have not been able to see them or even get an appointment. I tried calling them on and off throughout the day today, and I have gotten no response at all despite calling during normal business hours. The phone would ring, and then it would be off the hook, but no one would say anything on the other line. I had waited for one to two minutes each phone call and continued saying, "Hello?" but no answer. I would then hang up and call again, but the line would be busy. I would be happy to amend this review after actually having a scheduled appointment and seeing this PT, but as of right now, I am unimpressed. EDIT: 11 calls later, I spoke to a person at 5:10pm. After I told them what had happened, they apologized and said they weren't sure what happened, but that they receive a high call volume throughout the day. I was able to schedule my appointment for mid-November as they were booked for the rest of the month. They were polite and helpful over the phone. read more

This is a *really* bad physical therapy place. The front desk are awesome and deserve praise, they are definitely the best part of the team. I have actually worked as a physical therapy aide and started physical therapy school, unfortunately didn't finish, but I have a very strong jdea of how physical therapy should be and this place is *bad*. Serving low income patients is tough which is why each patient gets almost no attention and. They're probably doing the best they can, but let me tell you this - I lost my print out of exercises and said they couldn't print me a new one, it was not possible to recreate it. I've worked in 4 clinics and my job often involved storing those and printing those for patients, that's like a doctor telling you you can't see the notes from your previous visit and since exercises are a literal prescription it's very weird. I didn't really get a diagnosis whatsoever, I have literally only continuted going so I'm "compliant" while my doctor tries to find me another clinic. There has been no instruction on exercises but I knew how to do most of them anyways. Unfortunately I don't know if what's going on with my groin will have long term reprecussions. It *is* getting better hence one star but I think that's mostly just time. One of the first things I learned at pt school was that people will naturally heal but your job is to speed up and improve their healing process, and to be able to use assessments to give them an accurate estimate of healing time. I asked them for healing time and they said we don't know. I asked them what's wrong and they said probably strain. I know enough that I think I may have a weird gait, and a weird gait could cause long term issues. It feels like my option is to try to see if someone in my social network can help, pay a cash pay pt out of pocket, or wait until I get better insurance to get good care. If any medical professionals went here (which they won't bc they serve low income) I think they would get scathing reviews. I know they're doing their best and at least Melissa the aide is super nice, but the actual quality of care is *very* bad. read more

appointment should have been an hour but only 1/2 hour. My handicap wife just sit in wheelchair and do leg lift by herself for 5 minutes. Then sit and wait 30 minutes, now laying on table which I had to put her there myself. read more

This place is dangerous. This isn't a review so much as a warning that this place should not be in business. My PA referred me to this place for physical therapy but they should not be considered physical therapists. To keep it brief: 1-I have chronic back problems. Almost every time I visited this place the PT looked at their chart and asked me: "How's your shoulder?" I have to correct them each time and they don't change their regimen whether or not the "shoulder" comes up. 2- The assistant to the physical therapist took me in the first time and told me: "do x,y,z exercises". I said "What are those?" She said "They're these." and pointed to a diagram on the wall. After watching me begin she left to take care of another patient. They have never gone through an exercise with me and they have never made sure that I'm doing it in a way that is safe or healthy for my condition. 3- I asked one PT for a more in depth approach and asked what I should do at home. He told me: "Oh, you can just look up exercises on YouTube if you want anything more." These people should be investigated and have their licenses revoked. I rarely ever write a review for a bad place, unless it's something I strongly feel about. I was referred to SJPT since another PT place was booked up. My first visit was meant to be an initial consultation, however, I did not receive the quality of care in which a patient should receive. Working in healthcare, I understand and empathize with the staff as it can get busy and hectic, so wait times are common, however, my experience was hard to grasp with an empathetic heart. I had an appointment at 10 am, and arrived 15 minutes early. After waiting for 45 minutes, I was still not seen, therefore, I checked in with the front desk. I noticed there were patients doing "walk-ins" and were seen immediately. I communicated with the front desk that I have been waiting for some time, in which they kept saying I would be seen soon. It wasn't until 12 pm, that they let me in (2 hour wait time!) and the front desk staff stated "sorry, we had walk ins". Already pretty annoyed, it didn't make sense to take walk ins ahead of an appointment. When I came in, I was seen by the PT, Chester. I was surprised when he did not review my chart nor ask me about my history and the need for PT. I initiated conversation regarding my history and need for my ankle (he thought it was my hand). After I explained this, he went to print PT exercises and explained it by pointing to the papers. After doing so, my appointment was done. I was utterly confused as to there was no visual or hands on pt exercises to practice with him. I felt like my time was wasted and the quality of my care was extremely poor. Thinking to myself, if I just wanted verbal explanations of exercises, I can easily look it up without a PT appointment. I will not be coming back and encourage others to find a better PT place that will treat you with care. read more

I recently completed a course of physical therapy. I'm truly grateful to my doctor and nurses. After six months of suffering with my knee, I can once again walk freely and without pain. I thank the medical staff for the qualified and effective care they provided me. The receptionist was polite and very friendly. I would recommend this location to others. read more

This place used to be amazing, alive, and so patient friendly. Recently when I've come back I was forced by the hostile PT aid to focus 90% (over an hour and a half) of my time and energy on exercises that didn't help but actually hurt me more. The remaining 10% to say something about the therapist is too high because I don't have anything great to say about the therapist other than they spend 5 minutes on me and then was done. The front desk isn't super friendly but they are civil just to not have any qualms or quarrels in their office. Besides these things, there is no flexibility in the schedule to change when or if you need to change. The only nice thing here is it's quiet and clean. read more

I was suffering with low back pain and Surgery was waiting for me but I can feel better now and pain improving a lot enough to postpone my surgery until I have more strength and pain management with the physical exercises, now I can sleep and work better and I m so happy about taking care of my family . This place is a joke. Stay away. The front desk is so rude, slow and incompetent to a point that you have to question what their hiring process was, a friend of a friend's family member? They scheduled you, then cancelled but if you missed the cancel call, they don't bother to call back - they just canceled it. And when you called back asking that you missed a call and wanted to check, they had no idea who called or what was the call about. read more

My evaluation was good, same my first therapy. The next appointment they change the therapist and wasn't good. For the next appointment I ask for the first therapist and supposed they give me the appointment with him, the day of the appointment surprise ! The change to the other, looks like they don't track the appointments or simple they don't care about how the pacientes felt with the therapists, for me is if I m started with someone and start a treatment is follow up with the same person, no change every time. This place is a total joke. The doctor here did nothing to make sure my mother's lower back problems are no longer a problem. If you have lower back issues you are better off either going somewhere else or looking at physical therapy videos on Youtube which does a lot more better than this place. Luckily for me, unlike other reviews they seemed to step up their game with the front desk. Both the guy and the girl who work there seem to do a great job checking in clients which is super good. They should get an additional star here just because of that. I cannot go beyond 3 stars because the exercises they told my mother to do are the same as the physical therapy videos on Youtube. It's a total waste of gas to come here if you live in West San Jose. I haven't been able to work while taking care of my parents and these guys are not helping at all. I have done so many things to get my knees and shoulder back to health (multiple rounds of prp, stretching, massage guns, etc..). My shoulder and knee were feeling its best when I came here, the blading really helped to break down tough inner tissues. I wish my insurance was covered this again. read more

Came for inner/outter flare on my lower back. If you feel uncomfortable with a male PT, you can have a lady help you out. I was cool with a guy PT, but I personally think he felt uncomfortable running his hand down my back to find my soreness. LOL. The receptionist is wicked awesome, you walk in even though it's your only 2nd visit? She knows you by name already. Sometimes for me, I feel a bit odd sitting in the small wait room, creepy old men there. Unless I have the later afternoon times, then there's the after school group of kids there. Equipments are old, squeals and squeaks but it gets the job done. My favorite part of therapy? The end! Haha, because they use this heat, spinal, criss-crossing pulse thing. best 20 minutes of my life each time I'm there. -- lost a star because of the smell... it just straight smells like toilet water in there. Worse than a gym! ** Also, the lady PT, Pattie?, yelled at me for wearing flat sneakers when I wasn't even her patient. I have flat feet :( my PT knew it though, he kinda laughed off her anger at me, she was yelling at me in Spanish, but I understood, then she went and yelled at me in English when she realized I'm not Hispanic. read more

I had few days that I needed rescheduling because of either my job or driving my little brother somewhere and the guy on the phone made a sigh like I was making his job difficult. The worst physical therapy clinic I have ever seen. They do not respect to clients. Their job is so bad.

My Mom's doctor referred her to this therapist and she didn't like it that she just had 2 sessions. She never finished the whole sessions that was prescribed. Why? Because of this: The therapist told my Mom "do you speak English?". She said yes. Then she (therapist) continued talking. Then she asked my Mom "Do you understand English? I think you don't." My Mom told her "Yes I do. I was a teacher for 30+ years." That should knock her off her (therapist) pedestal. You don't even deserve 1 star! read more

My Therapist was Patti, great lady, understands Sr.s don't move like they did when 20 and 30. I really appreciate that she found the issue addressed with things that I can do not only there, but at home without having a gym at home. Things that made common sense, with isolating muscles to improve the support bones need...Great job, great people, friendly, kind, and considerate.
