The good Doctor and his staff have been a Godsend for myself. For years I've had just about every difficulty you could imagine dealing with a mainstream commercial healthcare provider (Kaiser, Aetna, Stanford). The Doctor is spot-on, actually listens to you, and does not beat around the bush or hide his concerns like others. It does not matter what your issues, background, or medical history consists of, he takes a human approach and gets the job done. Just like others have said recently. Went there one time and it was my last. I was hoping to have a good experience and find myself a PCP but did not happen at all. The complex area is nice and quiet but it all goes down hill from there. Upon coming in, the reception starts talking about money and payment. Rather than welcoming a new patient. After the back and forth about payment, I corrected the receptionist that the health check should have no charge. My insurance cover this and I never had to pay for annual checkup. Finally, after some back and forth, it was corrected with insurance. The weird thing is that I gave all the this info when I scheduled. This should have been check beforehand. Next was seeing the doctor. He just came in and just ask a bunch of questions and just sent me on my way. He didn't spend any time to know about me or my health. On November 19, I got an appointment with him because my insurance assigned him as PCP. It was one of an insane doctor appointments that I have experienced. I came 30mins early. Receptionist check me in and ask for my insurance ID loudly and then proceed to said oh, I don't need it because she already have it (insurance ID given when I booked the appointment on the phone). The nurse checked my weight and took me to an exam room. And Dr Wu barged in. I have no idea who he is (I only know he might be a doctor because he wear white coat). He started to ask questions and do physical exam. He keeps talking and asking questions nonstop, only allow me to answer in 1-3 words answers, if I try to explains anything further, he'd cut me off and continue rambling, talking, questioning, and switching tasks between physical exam, questions, and charting. It's overwhelming in a small exam room. He asks question one time, and then later he asks the same question again, then the same question again, and again. It's obvious that he doesn't seem to care what I say. Sometime, he answered his own questions, it's like going to a monologue appointment. It seems he's bad apple mask in certifications and degrees. Just moved to Gilroy found Dr. Wu through my insurance, so far no problems with Dr. Wu but my review is for Jasmine she works the front desk, not sure what her position is. I just want to say she is phenomenal, she shows that she cares and is extremely helpful she always makes sure we get the referrals and approvals we need on time. I have been coming to Dr. Wu for several years it's amazing to have someone with the caliber of Dr. Wu in our small town of Gilroy. When I moved in several years ago I would get mailers from all the Doctor's in town, I guess because they knew I might be looking for a physician. That did not happen with Dr. Wu, he is extremely busy and you might need to wait, but that is a positive, not a negative. Oh my.... where do I even begin? My visit to Dr. Wu was pretty much like all the others. I moved out of state, but had been back "home" in Gilroy for the Christmas Holiday a few weeks ago. I had come down with a bad case of Vertigo and basically just wanted to see if he could give me a different diagnosis or more information than my other doctors had in Oregon. (Dr. Wu is my mom's doctor). Anyway, right off the bat he asked me to do a breathing treatment and EKG. Uhhhh...what???? I have no breathing problems what-so-ever and I had an EKG the week prior at the ER, but he STILL wanted to do one, even after I told him that. He also mentioned that if my insurance didn't cover the breathing treatment, it would only be $30.00. That's not even the point here dude. I refused both-- and I asked for a doctors note, he prescribed me with steroid ear drops and a Z-pack to get me thru the next few days. I returned back to Portland a few days later, went to an ENT and he told me that the doctor who prescribed those medications for my symptoms didn't know what they were doing. There you have it, in a nut shell folks. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. My mom has also changed doctors since. No way, Jose! Bad bad bad. read more

My husband had been going to Dr. Wu for a couple of years. He's rarely sick, but the few times he did go I noticed that, as the other reviewer mentioned, he prescribes quite a few tests. It wasn't until my husband was very sick at the end of last year that I was introduced to Dr. Wu. He'd been feeling very weak, and he'd lost 20lbs in less than a month (wish I could do that!). We go into his office and the music is blaring. It's office music, but it's loud. We get into the exam room fairly quickly. When Dr. Wu comes in, he's got his jacket on, he doesn't really come into the room, he stands in the doorway. He asks my husband what's going on, and while my husband is trying to describe his symptoms , over the loud music, he interrupts him numerous times. Then, he says, 'so you're having trouble breathing?'. No, that's not what my husband said. My husband tries to explain again. Still not listening. I try to explain. Nope, nothing. We went back and forth on this. He wouldn't listen! It was so frustrating!!! We ended up going to another doctor. We've since then had another dealing with him, against our wishes, but because my husband was in the hospital we were kind of at his mercy. Needless to say, we weren't happy. He may be super intelligent, but if he doesn't listen to his patients, what good does it do? He should go into research, not deal with people. Dr Wu is a hero to my wife and I. He very literally saved my life. He had been our doctor for quite a few years when my job and insurance switched to Kaiser. About 5 years later, I was able to switch back to Dr. Wu. I took my wife in for some testing of her asthma , part of which was a treadmill test . He remembered me and the heart disease in my family and suggested a treadmill test for me too. My wife's test was fine , but he had a perplexed look as he read my results . He said he needed to study them. One hour later he was blowing up my wife's phone with texts that we needed to come back immediately. When we arrived he was on the phone to a heart specialist friend of his who agreed to see me on Monday (this happened on a Saturday). I had 99% blockage of an artery in my heart.... I was in surgery in no time and am doing great. My wife too ! I am 57 years old , and have had ekg's aplenty at Kaiser. They flat out missed it. Dr. Wu did not. He saved my life. I love this man ! The reason we went back to him ? He always ends our checkups with "God bless you".... And heartfelt. Finding a great doctor is one thing, finding one humble enough to realize no matter how powerful medicine may be, there is One far more powerful ....is to me, the mark of a truly great man. I had been looking for a primary care physician and was kind of desperate so I broke down and went to Dr. Wu. So sorry I did. Keep in mind this was my first visit to Dr. Wu and he has no medical background information on me. The actual time Dr. Wu spent in my presence was MAYBE 10 minutes, during which he failed to hear my concerns regarding my health issues. He spoke over me and threw out obviously preconceived ideas of what my ailments might be, even though I tried to correct him. He then went on to prescribe medicaton and tests, which I'm sure were putting a pretty penny in his pocket. My husband had been seeing Dr. Wu for about a year and had convinced me to try him. My visit with Dr. Wu was nothing like the reviews here are stating. I am very happy with him and the girls in the front office. Yes, he ran some tests but how else can you check someone out if you do not run tests. Since my visit to his office I have run into 2 people that go to him as well and are very happy with him too! Think "Shark" or "Pirate". He seems to want to run an EKG, cholesterol /blood tests each time we go in. We really feel like just dollar signs that he can charge our insurance for. The front desk girls are great but Dr. Wu is so impersonal and uninterested except for the tests that can be run (and clearly not needed/were just done a month ago). PLEASE READ: So I went in here after my doctor who has done quite a bit to help diagnose my issue suggested getting a second opinion since we could not determine the issue. My dad found WU since he lived in Gilroy and I am from Moneterey. Desperate I went with him there. Dr. WU who showed up after I had arrived that morning was wearing Crocks (Yes the garden shoes...) his office looked like NASCAR race track with every type of perscription drug and a TV plastered on his walls. His pens, coats, diagrams, wall hangings and so on were all gifts from the pharmacy. When it was time for me to see him I tried to explain my issues to him and he just flat out DID NOT LISTEN... He actually needed to take a pee and instead of just telling me that he rushed my appointment... I told him that I was trying some alternative medicine that helps me and he immediately ignored that and proceeded to prescribe me PARKINSON medication... Expensive with high side effects... to help what he must have heard was a muscle spasm I have been dealing with. Not once did he ask about diet, exercise, work and environment or even pretend to care. He them proceeded to suggest to do a heart EKG and breathing test for an extra fee that for some dumb reason I said yes to. I could hear him through the wall talking to another patient and he was going over all the pills he had her on. Basically he is a pill pusher (NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH WESTERN MEDICINE AND PILLS ARE GOOD) but he does not do good diagnostics and he is all about money and does not listen. Please find someone else that will take care of you. If you want pills prescribed then go to this guy he will have you on something 5 min after not listening to you. In the past month and half, I've been taking my mom to see Dr. Wu. I feel compelled to write a review for the professional, courteous, and kind treatment my mom has been receiving. Dr. Wu takes his time to listen to my mom's needs and desires. He doesn't rush her or pressure her to get any treatment she is not ready for. He even calls her himself when his instructions are critical. My mom doesn't have insurance. Dr. Wu watches out for her expenses. He tells my mom the estimated cost for running any test. He gave my mom a sample pill to take before prescribing the medication since it was close to be $150 per pill, and it could cause severe side effects. He also gave her some information on how to set up a saving plan on medications, which will save her a lot of money in a long run. Dr. Wu is the kind of doctor my mom and I hoped to find but feared too hard to find. We feel so fortunate to have found him. We give him 5 stars without any hesitation. read more

Went to Dr. Wu a few years ago and all he wanted to do was run test and wanted me to see him every 3 months. He never said I had any problems, so I changed doctors. I hadn't had an EKG in a while so I had them run it -- they found blockage, so I was sent to a cardiologist. The cardiologist sent for my records from Dr. Wu and is seems that my EKG that he gave me showed blockage back in 2007. He never told me nor did he refer me to a cardiologist. I accompanied my mom to her appointment and had already heard horror stories about this Dr. His bedside manner is terrible as he would keep cutting me off whenever I asked a question. He is unethical and borderline negligent. He said there was a misunderstanding with my moms insulin prescription and it required us to make a visit to make sure my mother received her prescription. He seems to want to order unnecessary testing and make unnecessary follow up appointments simply to bill the patient and insurance. We will be looking for another primary doctor because I fear Dr.Wu will make another medical error with my moms insulin. What if my mother had not mentioned this to me and not brought it up to Dr.Wu? My mothers blood sugar level would have dropped during the night and this would be detrimental to her health. I normally don't write reviews but like I said, this error or "miscommunication " as he called it was negligent to say the least. I honestly can't praise this doctor and office enough... The doctor and staff have gone above and beyond to help me... But from the moment I walked in the office the feeling that you get and the way the staff is put together and friendly I knew... Then dr Wu spend at least 45 minutes with me explaining and trying to help me figure out what was going on with my health... Then at the end of the visit he grabbed my hand and said God bless you... That's all it took for me to know that I will be coming back... Not many doctors these days take the time to explain and care enough to get to the bottom of your issues... Dr Wu has been my personal care physician for about 20 years now and I have found him to be very competent, willing to write a referral for a specialist should you need one, and always there when you need him, his staff is very nice and excellent to work with. In a short summary: You cannot find a better family doctor anywhere. This is the first time I have seen him. He is very cost conscience. There are a lot of things that he did not think I need to do as often as I have thought because I am still young. He spent almost half hour with me, which I thought was very rare for doctors these days. I also didn't have a wait for long after my scheduled time. Dr. Wu asked carefully about my syndrome, family history, and background. He explained and discussed with me in very details. He also did the blood test for me with good skills(I don't feel any pain). He is very thorough with his assessments and explains everything to you. He is kind, and really cares about your needs. I notice there are many 5 star reviews for Dr Wu listed on the "not recommended" page and I'm wondering if my 5 star review will even make the cut. If it by chance it does, I encourage readers to take a look at those reviews, as I feel they accurately reflect the quality care Dr Wu provides. I have multiple chronic illnesses and when I moved to Santa Clara County two years ago, I responded to a verbal recommendation, "go see Dr Wu- he'll take really good care of you." It was important to me due to my health concerns to find a great physician. My experience has proven it can be challenging to find a Dr balanced between the empathetic caring person we all prefer to relate to and the brainy sort of character with the knowledge and talent to manage complex health matters. Dr Wu performs this dual relationship with form. Dr Wu did well with his hiring of equally professional and caring office staff who have not ever fallen short in the realm of service. Referrals are processed expeditiously and they make great efforts to have me seen by Dr last minute if the need arises. To top it off, they all smile; really, something so simple goes a long way. As a first visit, the doctor should have spent 30-45 minutes with a new patient. The most time I got was 15 minutes, (he didn't even introduce himself when he first entered). Bed side manner was poor. Dr. kept talking over me and would not let me explain fully. Running in and out of the examining room I had to ask: "Are you going to spend some time with me so we can discuss my health concerns?" My experiences with Dr. Wu have been very positive. I found Dr. Wu after my mother got sick while on a visit from southern California. She had been in and out of two hospitals in the Bay Area for a few months under the care of previous doctors and not getting better. My mother just wanted to get on a plane and go home but was not permitted to fly at the time. After just four days of treatment by Dr. Wu my mom was well enough to fly back home. Dr. Wu is a great MD and easy to talk to once you know your own medical needs and verbalize them. He is smart, cares about people and his staff is friendly, and professional (unlike other medical office where the medical assistants talk too much on the phone about personal things). If you want a doctor that doesn't do much testing or wants to see you only once a year, try Kaiser. Dr. Wu gives samples of medication also so you con't have to pay to try something new. I went with my mom who had a a second appt appt with Dr. Wu. We started off with a bad experience with the MA who brought her back. She was wearing the same gloves she cleaned the room with to vital and touch my mom. See my mom had an appt on the 11th for her next appt. To go over her lab results. Well he called her and insisted she come in earlier just so he can tell her platlets are low and it could be the start of an auto immune desease. Well HELLOOOOO!!!! He should already know from last visit that my mom have reumatoid authritis. And has for 40 years. I brought this up to him and he said oh I know just seeing if she knew. What????? He told her that it also could be the start of cancer. He yelled at me because he wanted to check my mom's BP again cause it was high. Mind you it was 139/78. Not high. And when I told him it wasn't high he yelled at saying HE IS THE DR. And proceeded to take BP WITHOUT HIS Damn stethascope on till after he was deflating. Then said it's 110/70. He is Nuts!!! When my mom told him about the MA with Gloves he said of she washes them with soap and water. Please you don't wash latex disposable gloves with soap and water. He is crazy. We walked out dYing nothing and he followed us so CREEPY!!! He followed us all the way to parking lot. Then proceeded to call her phone and my phone. I recommend to never ever see this Dr. His office is filthy. He is dirty is white coat looked like he was working under a car. my visit was nothing like these other people describe. dr. wu was very warm, caring, and he took the time to listen to my concerns and he remembered me even though i hadn't seen him in 5 years. he is a wonderful dr. if he doesn't run any test how is he going to know what's wrong? he's a dr. not a mind reader. if you don't want any tests done then the drs. office is the wrong place to go. i would rather be safe than sorry. he can run all the test he needs to as far as i'm concerned i want to know what's going on with my body and the sooner the better. read more
