Very disorganized and doesn't follow through. Showed up today with appointment card in hand and was told that Dr. Friedman was on vacation. "Someone" had made a scheduling mistake. This appointment had been make two months previously and I couldn't get another for a month. First visit I was left in the exam room for an hour after a nurse left to "check something" and didn't come back. I stuck my head out in the hall and was rudely told to remain in the exam room by a passing doctor, I couldn't be in the hall. Getting very frustrated by now I used my cell phone to call the front desk. An angry receptionist told me I shouldn't be calling the desk, and said she would send a nurse to see me. The nurse finally came and didn't remember what she was supposed to do for me, so by then I just left, having forgotten myself. Avoid this practice if possible. read more

Updated to add more context. I did let the receptionist know the earliest I could be at the office on that day would be at 4:00, and I arrived at 4:00. If 4:00 was too late to be seen as a walk in, the receptionist should have let me know so I could have gone to Urgent Care. It sounds like the communication from the receptionist to patients and staff could be improved. Also, the way Dr. Friedman sympathized with me being sick and unable to take time off work was by telling me a story of how cave people who were sick and worked were stupid and died. It made me feel ashamed for being sick and coming in to get treatment. I understand that miscommunication happens, and that words may have come out harsher than intended. I hope communication and patient care improves in the future. read more

Absolutely the most unprofessional doctor I've EVER experienced. Literally left her office 3 times in tears. Was EXTREMELY rude to myself and family. I've been receiving bills for days I didn't have an appointment or days I called in for questions about my meds. I'm having severe asthma but I no longer have my insurance. I am new to Hollister & looking for a PCP. They said they were accepting new patients and I was placed on hold. Tracy picked up the phone & confirmed so I asked for the NPI number so I can assign benefits to their office and she refused to give to me. This is something every patient should have access to. Had my first and last appointment with this doctor. After seeing the meds she prescribed and doing my own research, found out there was a major warning about combining the two drugs she prescribed. Could have caused very serious condition had I not done my own research. Always do your own research. She did not explain the possible problems that could have arisen. I felt like it is take these and come back in two weeks. Doctor seems nice enough but very hurried, did not take enough time to explain or develop a plan with me or ask my opinion on the course of treatment. I must add one more thing: Staff is not very friendly at all, down right rude. read more

I suffer from frequent migraines. Dr. Marni Friedman was extremely helpful in setting up a preventative care plan that has reduced not only the frequency, but the intensity of them. She is clear and direct which means less opportunity for misunderstandings between patients and doctors. read more

Dr Friedman misdiagnosed my mom repeatedly. Her lack of attention to detail resulted in my mom having a brain aneurism which she will never fully recover from. My mom complained of constant headaches and Dr. Friedman prescribed medications instead of scheduling a CT or MRI. I have been with Marini Friedman for about 20 years. When I moved my mother in with me, she was also her doctor, and my kids, and my husband's. She is sometimes tough (don't ever forget your med sheet) but I understand why, it is because she cares. I feel like she takes whe whole persons health seriously, and her staff is very friendly and care as well. They always call me to get me in for a well check, flu shot, and I am seen within a day if I am really bad off. She manages my asthma and is a wonder with pharmacology. She knows her stuff. Dr Friedman Is Not a nice person......she takes things personally and will not listen to your concerns. She feels that she went to school to be a Dr and you know nothing. She wanted to put me on all this medicine for people with depressions, just because i wanted to stop smoking. She didn't care that i wasn't comfortable taking a psych medicine because I heard lots of people get depressed when taking them. She just doesn't care about my feelings, she just wants you to do as she says and not question anything. She is like a drill sergeant, she missed her calling and should have joined the Service. Friedman is a great doctor no doubt. But a couple of the women working the front desk are absolutely rude. It's not the first time they have treated me this way and from hearing it from other patients it looks like I'm not the only one. If I'm going to go just to get treated this way I doubt I will be going back. It sucks because Friedman is a great doctor. Oh well I'm sure there's other great doctors out there and at least with better front desk service. read more

The good doctor and her fine office staff are extremely efficient and reliable. Too often I sit waiting for my doctors wondering why my time is not valued. Not here, they get you an appointment as quick as possible and your in and out on time and feeling heard and appreciated. I read a couple of the lesser star reviews that comment on bed side manner being less than appreciated. I feel this team is misunderstood by those few complainers that don't recognize intelligence and a beautiful dry sense of humor.. This team clearly cares greatly for you and your well being and can be firm in their passion for your understanding that in order to be healthy you must take what is being told to you seriously. I too would have no patience for a self destructive patient and I applaud the office for doing a great job even when faced with less desirable patients. You would be crazy not to choose this team for your healthcare needs. It's obvious that they bring a quality of practice to the area that is comparable to a big city specialist. read more

I can't even remember how many years our whole family has been seeing Dr. Friedman. We had been going to Dr. Rocco and he left town for a couple of years and Dr. Friedman inherited us. She has always treated us well, her office staff handles every request in a timely manner. My husband had been misdiagnosed and she got right to the bottom the problem and he's a new man. I went in complaining that my precancerous sore was not healing. Just seeing her made me feel better and relax because within a few days of her magic powers my skin was back to normal. Dr. Friedman has been my family doctor since I moved back to Hollister in 2012. 1) I never have to wait when I have an appt. I am shown to an exam room promplty and the doctor is always in to see me within 5minutes; often in less thatn 2 minutes. 2) Every staff member is the same since I started and they always remember me by name on sight. They are busy, but will chat if I am friendly to them. They clearly like each other and work together well. 3) Dr. Friedman has an outgoing, friendly manner. She is direct and she is very bright. I think another reviewer said that she is tough. That is a good word for her bedside manner in that she doesn't mince words. I personally believe she does so in order to see her patient's in a timely manner. 4) My sons see her as well and I have never heard a single complaint. 5) In my experience, if a patient is honest and direct with her, Dr. Friedman opens up and is really a very warm and genuine person--which can be difficult to find in a doctor whom can be truly be a "family" doctor. I can, and do, discuss all of my personal issues with Dr. Friedman, be they medical, emotional, or family issues. 6) In my experience, other members of my family who were not honest and direct with her did not enjoy her practice. Her staff are professional and they know precisely what to expect from patients and they don't suffer patients whom are rude to them or unprepared for their visit. I've had one run-in and I was the problem, not the staff. Upon my next visit, everything was forgotten. I enjoy the staff immensely. 7) Dr. Friedman is a very good judge of character. If you are looking for a doctor who cuts corners or doals out pills, keep looking. read more

I have had back issues for some time, with no hope of improvement or options other than to live with the pain. I met with Dr. Friedman to see if she would work for me as a primary care as my current/former is now too far away. She took her time with me, reviewed my history and began asking questions about my treatment to date. She was knowledgeable, professional and extremely helpful! She had options that had never been suggested let alone tried. Her focus seems to be on the patient and what she can do to help them live a healthy and full life.
