1 Star I wish I would have trusted my gut and listened to the negative reviews I saw before making an appointment with Dr. Shah. From the beginning, his bedside manner was extremely poor, and more concerning was his lack of effective care. I initially went in for hemorrhoids, but after each visit, my condition actually worsened. Days after appointments, I was consistently in more pain and dealing with worsening symptoms. When I raised concerns and explained that things were getting worse--eventually leading to a new diagnosis of ulcerative colitis--his response was shocking. He literally shrugged his shoulders and said, "I don't know what you want me to do." At that point, I knew I had to find a new doctor. What followed was one of the most difficult years of my life. I was out of work for nearly a year. I'm self-employed and fully support myself, and I physically couldn't be away from a bathroom for more than 10 minutes. The financial and personal toll was overwhelming. To make matters worse, when I later reached out regarding the high medical bills--given my worsening condition and lack of resolution--he responded by sending a dismissive letter stating he would no longer serve as my physician. The lack of accountability and professionalism was honestly shocking. If I can help even one person avoid this experience, please take this as a warning and seek care elsewhere. Sometimes I wonder if the physician himself ever calls the office to schedule an appointment to see how utterly rude the receptionists are in this office. It's amazing to me that ever single time I call and whoever ever I speak with is down right rude. Dr. Shah is great, I reluctantly returned knowing that I would have to deal with the front office being down rudely. I called to get an appointment for a Friday, scheduled and was happy. A week later the confirmation call said it was scheduled for a Thursday. Ok fine, mistakes happen. No apologies on thier part, just a plain, take it or leave it. Rescheduled, for a Friday 2 weeks later. I scheduled a procedure, in the meantime, I loose my insurance. I called well within the time to reschedule/ cancel (the lady I spoke to told me I had till Monday to cancel) I call a few days before that. (PROCEDURE SCHEDULED FOR MAY 12, I CANCELED MAY 2ND) to be told rudely. "If you cancel or reschedule again there will be a charge" . I explained that this just happened to us it's out of my hands and the procedure is 10 days away. I won't be rescheduling and I won't ever return. The last thing I'd ever want to do is cancel or reschedule. I was hoping to get things resolved, but how can I go to an office that is not understanding of our circumstances? Things happen and it's disheartening to know that we can be treated like this because we lost our insurance. I will look for a other place to go and be treated right. I received treatment for Acid Reflux and, while that issue has cleared up, the extremely high amount of omeprazole i was put on appears to be the cause of the SIBO diagnosis i now suffer from. When i consulted with Prince Shah over the phone in teying to diagnose the new issues, his only suggestion was to stop seallowing so much air. This was the only advice given even after several calls for the same issues after following his advice. It took an entirely seperate GI specialist to properly diagnose and treat me (also how i learned that the amount of omeprazole prescribed was insane). Also, lets go into how little care was shown during my endoscopy. I was conscious enough to feel every poke and scrape that camera made on the way down, and even though i was choking on it the entire time, i was not given any more sedative. Compounded on top of this is the complete lack of communication for billing apart from mail. i moved recently, and my mail has not been getting forwarded. I never recieved a single call or email informing me of any bill before they sent it to collections, putting my credit in peril. If you can choose literally anyone else but Prince Shah for gastro work, go with them. His callous and rushed bedside manner and lack of common courtesy when dealing with billing are enough to make sure i never ask him for help again. read more

I could ONLY give 5 stars...Dr. Shah is wonderful! He always answers my questions and listens to my concerns. My procedures have always gone smoothly (no pun intended) and my gut health is his priority. I refer everyone to him and list the many reasons why. Went for a consultation, doctor came in late and speaking to me about another patient's medical history. Told him he had the wrong patient. He then proceeded to answer his cell phone while I was explaining why I was there and walked out of the room while on the cell. Came here to receive some treatment /medical procedure and left disappointed. Dr Shah never communicated well and never really told me what was going on. I still have many unanswered questions as he is a man of few words. Not a good combination if you are seeking help from a healthcare provider. His billing staff was generally rude and I was told that they did a preauthorization and that I was approved by my insurance. Later I found out when I got the bill that there was no approval and I don't even know if they ever really checked with my insurance to begin with. There was lots of confusion . I would not go there again because I'm pretty sure I can get much better service elsewhere. read more

I would not recommend Shah. I was sent to his office by another Dr, and was seen a month later. In the appointment, he asked me numerous questions about my abdominal pain, but when I went to answer him, he would constantly cut me off. I think he already made up his mind that it was a poor diet and that I needed to do Pilates.. He proceeded to go through the foods I needed to stay away from. When I told him I didn't eat them, dairy, wheat, etc. He said then just start Pilates, and call me back if that doesn't work. Really Pilates for sever abdominal pain. I then called him back a couple days later, and told him I'd like to do a food allergy test. He tried to convince me otherwise, but I didn't back down. So I got that done the beginning of July, and have yet to hear back from anyone from that office. I've called twice, and they all have no idea what I'm talking about. Beware! I was referred to Dr. Shah for a preventative colonoscopy. Without my knowledge or consent, they change it to a diagnostic colonoscopy. What should have been covered 100%, left me with a total bill of over $900. They even acknowledge that my referral was for a preventative screening but claim they couldn't change it noweven though I was never informed of their decision. read more

Had nothing but a great experience with Dr. Shah. Two surgery's, put me on medication and follows up personally are my ordeal. I located Dr. Shah in my network in order to follow up on an upper GI which I had gotten in a different state. I had a short window of opportunity to get this done and his office staff was very helpful in getting me in and scheduled within less than a week! I am extremely pleased with Dr. Shah as a practitioner - most importantly he listens very well to get a clear understanding of what I am trying to describe and then he is very patient at explaining to me all that I need to know. Surprised one day by severe bleeding ulcer. I had no idea. I was taken to the emergency room and than spent 4 days in ICU. Dr. Shaw was the doctor assigned to my case and he was great. He repaired the damage,put me on medication and was very helpful in explaining to me the possible causes and what I need to do from here on. He was very thoughtful and caring when explaining to me about my situation. I would reccommend him to anyone. My family doctor also said he thought Dr. Shaw was one of the best! I have been to him quite a few times and he and his staff I would definitely recommend. Nice and efficient.

Dr. Shah as a practitioner is great however his staff are terrible at communication and are frankly quite awkward.

Dr. Shah is great at understanding needs and explaining options, he's also great at sharing experience and knowledge. My concerns are with his staff, specifically with Joanna and Kathleen. Joanna gives out misleading info when it comes to preauthorizations. She ran my insurance info before a procedure and was required to go over my deductible and out of pocket costs, but insisted that my deductible had been met. Missy and billing manager Kathleen, confirmed that financial matter prior to a procedure is required to be discussed with a patient before the patient agrees to and schedules a procedure. Bills came in first from an outside facility I was not made aware of. The said facility was not provided with the correct insurance info and when asked, Kathleen was supposedly unaware of said facility until confronted about the whole billing "misunderstanding" , at which point Kathleen suddenly knew of said facility but was unaware of the billing details. Patients are supposedly given a page of a procedure fees so that the patient is made aware of what to expect. Just know that you are going to have to know what questions to ask and you might have to do the staff's jobs!! read more

Horrible experience! I was referred to him by another doctor because I've had recurring severe abdominal pain for years, but I got absolutely no answers about anything. I had the first appointment of the day but still had to wait half an hour to be seen. Once He actually saw me all he did was criticize my diet and the American diet in general even though I am not overweight and he admitted my diet was most likely not responsible for the pain. He then proceeded to ask me a series of very vague uncomfortable questions that I answered to the best of my ability but he continuously put words in my mouth and actually got upset with me, claiming "that if I said no to everywhere question he couldn't help me". But in reality I did answer YES to some questions and he just blew me off. For example, he asked me if I'd been having any digestive problems related to the pain and i said I did have problems sometimes, and he said "that it must be because of my horrible diet". On top of all that he is just an awkward person who I did not feel comfortable discussing the specifics of my problems with. I feel it's important to feel comfortable around your doctor seeing as they hear many personal and uncomfortable details concerning your health. He sent me away with no answers and a prescription for a medicine that may or may not help.because he has no idea what is wrong with me. read more

I have Crohn's disease, and have seen a number of GI specialists over the years. Dr. Shah is fabulous.

My initial phone call to schedule an appointment went well. The staff was very helpful. After my first visit The Dr. didn't call in my prescription for hours after my appointment and then they sent over the wrong prescription. After my EDG I was told by Dr.Shah to call the office in a few days for the result. I called on Monday no results and I called on Thursday. The results were in but the Dr was not. I asked that the Dr call me back when he was in to give me the results. The nurse said no you have to make an office visit to get the results and I should have known this already, The Dr does not give results over the phone, good or bad. I told her I would not come in and lose 3 hours of pay to hear that everything was OK. If the results were not OK then I understand that I would have to go in. I think the Dr office should have called me when the results were in instead of me having to call the Dr. I left a message for the Dr to call me and no phone call. I called the next Monday morning and the Dr was not avail. to give me the results. The staff told me that I need to make an appoint. I called the hospital where I had the test and I went and picked up my results before the Dr called me back. When Dr Shah finally call me after asking me how I was feeling, he asked me if I made an appoint the have another procedure yet? Then told me everything was OK, I had to pry information out of him and asked detailed and pointed questions to get my information. I asked him if I would have to take this prescription for the rest of my life and his response was, I cant predict how long you will live. This is not a Dr I instill confidence in.
