Today is my wife's 2nd dental care day. We didn't do the regular cleaning during the pandemic. We were so concerned about the Covid. That is why she needed to do the deep cleaning for 2 weeks in a row. First, I had one zirconia crown about 3 years ago and I really liked Dr. Samuel Au for our family dentist for years. He is so gentle and perfect, always makes people comfortable and reliable. His staffs are so friendly and attentive. Especially Cindy at the front desk is wonderful. She always understands the emergency and arranges the urgent care for the patients. The doctor has lots of skills for the crown and the cleaning too. The price is good and you feel so relaxed during the procedure. So gentle!!!! He got orange county Best Dentist Awards in 2016, 2019, and 2022. Brovo!!! My wife and I are so happy to have a great dentist in our home area. Remember their business hour! Closed on Wed but opens until 2 on Sat. Thanks Dr. AU and all the staffs. Especially Cindy is awesome.

**THIS 5 STAR REVIEW IS SOLELY FOR THE STAFF ONLY**…read more First and foremost, I chose this location because they were very accommodating to my availability. I liked the fact that they open until 6 and I am able to go without having to miss work. The staff was friendly from the get-go. They even took into consideration my daughter's comfort and allowed her to be in their lounge area (next to the front desk) by herself, with the ladies' supervision, of course. Everything was going great until I met the dentist. He asked his standard questions "what's the reason for your visit, do you have any concerns". I have been very good with my dental visits up until my last dentist retired--about a year ago. So I explained to this doctor that yes, I did have concerns about my implant and I went to another dentist as an emergency and they gave me antibiotics for a temporary relief. Since I was LOOKING into up-keeping my dental visits with this location, I expressed how much I didn't want this to happen to me again and what he would suggest. He took 10 seconds to look at my implant and said that I had a gap where there isn't supposed to be and suggest I do some sort of treatment that would cost me $800 to do. Liz came to talk to me about the cost and my options and I asked for her sincere opinion. She was indeed sincere and said that in the end it would be beneficial to me especially since I did have an implant that I should pay close attention to. I quickly consulted with my husband and agreed to pay the $800. We proceeded with starting the treatment which I felt was like a deep cleaning to my teeth. It wasn't until they were done with this part of the process that I felt something odd. I felt that my bottom tooth was chipped. I figured it was something leftover as they did use the laser/UV light. When I mentioned it, it turned out that the dentist had already left. It was past 6 at this point so I understood. I had to come back in 2 days anyway to finish the process and they said that they would let the dentist know my concern and he could take a look at it. Come two days later, the supplies for the second half of my treatment didn't get shipped on time. I wasn't too upset about this because I did have that concern about my tooth. HOWEVER, when I was seen by this same dentist HE STRAIGHT UP DENIED CHIPPING MY TOOTH. He persisted with saying that I came in with my tooth chipped and didn't realize it until I got my teeth cleaned the other day. WHAT THE ACTUAL F! And he proceeded with saying that there wasn't anything he can do--in all honesty, he didn't seem like he was up to do anything in the first place. Mind you he had 2 other people in the other chairs waiting to be seen by him too. This upset me and I just wanted out. Apparently he wanted out too because this time he left WAY before 6. For the trouble (of supplies not coming in on time), David did a mold on my teeth for a complimentary teeth bleaching/whitening. Unfortunately at the end of that visit, I decided I wasn't going to come back. Not even to finish the rest of my treatment. I went to get a second opinion with another dentist and they told me the complete opposite. *If you're intrigued by my experience and would like to know what happened, keep reading please, otherwise you may skip to the end!* This other dentist said that because I have an abuntment, a support that goes in between my implant and my crown, THERE WILL BE A GAP AND THERE WILL BE MOMENTS WHERE I WILL NEED TO MAKE SURE I CLEAN DEEPLY IN BETWEEN. This other dentist suggests that I invest in a water floss (which costs at most $100). He said my gums look healthy and so does my implant and kindly told me I was upsold (?) for unnecessary treatments. He also said the chip could have been caused because my tooth was weak already and it was the pressure of the tool being used. After this successful dentist visit, I called Buena Park Smile Dental to cancel the rest of my treatment and asked for a refund for the procedures I didn't do. I excepted the worst because they had done so much for me, but to my surprise they were all very friendly--Liz, Natalie, and David (the only staff I encountered on my visits). Liz informed me that it would take up to 14 business days for my refund and I understood. This is the part that made me jump on my computer to write a review. About a couple of days ago, Liz called to inform me that my refund had been processed and that I should see the credit in my account soon. TALK ABOUT GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! To end this very detailed review, thank you Liz, David, and Natalie for all that you did for me. It's unfortunate that my visits ended this way, but I am very grateful for all your help. Especially for making my refund process a smooth one. And as for the visit to the dentist, I would tread carefully. If you're only looking to get a cleaning, this would be an okay place to go. Maybe take a picture of your teeth before you see the dentist (:

What I appreciated most was how thoroughly everything was explained to me. After my exam, they went over my treatment plan in detail and made sure I understood what was recommended, why it was being recommended, and what my options were. Dental treatment and insurance can honestly be confusing, but they took the time to break down the costs, what my insurance covered, and any additional options available to me. I never felt pressured or rushed into making a decision. When discussing my treatment, they explained the different options and costs rather than just assuming what I wanted. The same went for my cleaning and other recommendations. I was able to ask questions, understand what each treatment was for, and decide what made the most sense for me. Overall, I felt like the team genuinely wanted me to understand my dental health instead of just handing me a treatment plan and sending me on my way. I left feeling informed, comfortable with my options, and confident in the care I received. And a special shoutout to Beatriz! She was incredibly helpful and really listened when I explained my budget. She worked with me to find something I was comfortable with and even helped me with a discount that made my treatment much more manageable financially. I really appreciated that she took my budget into consideration and helped me find a way to get the care I needed without feeling pressured. Thank you, Beatriz, for making what could have been a stressful experience so much easier!

I don't usually write reviews, but I couldn't let this experience go without sharing it. This all…read morestarted with a Saturday appointment, which should have been a routine visit but turned into a 5‑hour appointment involving two crowns and a wisdom tooth extraction, and it took eight injections just to get me numb. The crowns were made incorrectly, and I had to return three separate times over the next month to get them fixed. This was not a cheap experience, and the constant back‑and‑forth completely disrupted my schedule. During the first visit, the dental assistant left the cement for the temporary tooth in my mouth for too long, and when she finally removed it, she had to rip it out. It left pieces stuck to my gums, and I was in pain for weeks afterward. Before I left, they almost sent me home without any care instructions for my wisdom tooth extraction -- my husband had to ask for them. I was so overwhelmed and uncomfortable that he also had to drive my car home. I already had plans set for that day, including watching The Odyssey, a 3‑hour movie, and I had to sit through it in pain because I couldn't cancel. The very next day, I had a sushi birthday dinner planned for a friend -- something I organized myself -- and I couldn't enjoy any of it because of the pain and eating restrictions. On the drive home, I cried from how intense the whole experience was and from realizing that my weekend plans -- including eating normally and spending time with friends I don't get to see often -- were completely ruined. I had planned that weekend months in advance, especially because I was put on a two‑week restricted diet afterward. Even the following week, when it was my own birthday, eating any food was still difficult. The crowns were placed on opposite sides of my mouth, which made chewing next to impossible and added even more discomfort. To make matters worse, there was never a manager on‑site at this location. The only manager I could speak to was from a different location, and they told me they would reach out to the main manager to see what could be done for me. Even then, it took two full weeks before anyone finally contacted me. After a full month of traveling back and forth to fix the crowns, the only thing they offered me was a teeth whitening, which doesn't come close to making up for the time, pain, stress, and disruption this caused. The staff was okay, but the overall quality of care, communication, and workmanship were extremely disappointing. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend this office.

My wife had a few dental issues that needed to be addressed so I wanted to find someone that was truly dedicated to their craft, someone that I would trust with my own teeth. After several recommendations from friends, we decided to make the drive from Las Vegas to consult with Dr. Patuwo. Upon entering the office space, we were warmly greeted by the receptionists. The office was immaculately clean, absolute gorgeous looking space. During the consultation, it became clear that we made an excellent decision with Dr. Jonathon Patuwo. He clearly explained our dental issues in an understandable manner, with visual support by showing us the X-rays on their TV. It was nice to finally have a dentist actually explain our dental problems and not just tell us what we need. We felt very safe with him. Upon proceeding with the dental work, it became immediately clear why the office has their title. Dr. Patuwo has a light, soft touch, while also being meticulous about his work. It was readily apparent that Dr. Patuwo is a very skilled dentist who can perform at a high standard, with multiple different procedures. It is safe to say that we will be returning in the future.

I spoke to Jessica to make the appointment who was super friendly and helpful over the phone. On the day of, I had to call and ask about the parking situation. The back was joined with another office and wasn't well labeled. I didn't want to park and get towed. Back alley was a bit sketchy. The office space is clean, modern and upgraded. However, it was way too quiet (thoughts that came to my head; did I make the right decision to move here; whey isn't there anyone else) and I believe the A/C was off. It wasn't a terribly hot day but stagnant office air is not enjoyable as your are laying in the dental chair. When I went in, I had the pleasure of meeting Lita at the front desk. Greeted me promptly and had me fill out the check in forms. Soon after completion, I was called by Jun to the back for X rays. There was a cool 360 machine That I thought got everything without the bite down traditional x ray images. I was wrong. I sat in the chair next to do the traditional bite down ones. It was a more pleasant experience than usual. Some of my past dentists put it in such awkward positions I've wanted to gag. No gagging here. I soon met Dr. Chris who was overly Informative and easy to talk to. It is uncommon to have a dentist spend that much time with you. I feel like he may have gotten my life information during my hour visit. He explained they usually schedule fist time Patients 1.5 hours in case there are questions or issues to remedy. I was lucky that it was pretty smooth sailing. He showed me how to properly floss which was important for me to improve my future flossing. Their dental cleaning process offered numbing gel which is not usual but I figured I would be a good patient. The numbing gel tasted pretty terrible and I quickly made the mental decision never to do that again. I get the thought process behind it, less pain makes for better customer experience. Just take note it may not be for everyone. I did notice they don't do the gum checks like my previous dentist. He visually inspected it and said it was good. After the cleaning, Jun helped polish my teeth. I also asked for fluoride treatment after since my precise dentist offered this for protection. He said adults don't usually ask for this but he accommodated. He provided me with no eating and drinking instructions to max the effects. After everything was completed, I got a goodie bag with a brush and toothpaste. I checked out with Lita and booked my future appointment. I am still debating if this will be my permanent provider moving forward. Nice group of folks and got me home fairly quick which was nice.
