Unfortunately, I can't actually attest to the food here because we walked out before my boyfriend and I ever got to order. We were starving and looking for a place to eat for lunch that might have some vegan options for me. Sam's had positive reviews, and as it's a Mediterranean place, usually I'm good with the veggie choices. We walked in the back, and immediately I noticed a strong grease odor. That alone didn't deter us though. A nice server sat us at table, but as soon as we sit, my boyfriend looks over to the open kitchen and sees the cook eating French fries with his bare hands while preparing food. I don't think I have to say it, but that's totally unsanitary. That's a great way to transfer illnesses to customers, and besides that, I don't want his saliva on my food. It makes me question the overall cleanliness of the establishment, as well as their food safety practices. Needless to say, we left. I'm sorry to tear apart what's likely a family owned business, and a place that probably has tasty food, but they need to get their crap together. Decided to try Sam's due to so many recommendations from friends and family but just do not understand why people love it! It is NOT bad but not as good as people make it to be.... I tried the Chicken Kebabs and my husband had a Lemon Chicken Rice dish and both were just okay. Will give another try to see if my experience was just a bad day for the cooks. read more

We love Sam's!! Great food friendly people! We go every Sunday and the food is always superb!! The fish is cooked to perfection as are the poached eggs on the many variations of Eggs Benedict. The Country potatoes are scrumptious!! They get their desserts from Rhodes Bakery!! What's not to love!!! We have never had a bad meal there. I was hesitant to put the review because we love the small town feel of the place but I think they will be expanding and moving to another building behind the one that is there now. GOOD JOB SAM'S! Sam's on Main is an American and Mediterranean restaurant that recently opened in downtown Grayson. I encountered them when I attended the Grayson Days Festival. They were selling beef and chicken kabobs and lamb sliders. I decided to try their lamb sliders because sometimes I just get tired of eating chicken and I was a bit curious. I didn't want the American cheese because that just can't happen to lamb and I grabbed a couple of mayo packets. As we walked right out to the parade, I took a bit and it was all I needed. I didn't even need that mayo or cheese because it was all about that perfectly prepared, not over-worked or over-cooked lamb patty. The slightly sweet bun was the perfect complement. t was great! I think that they should market their kabobs as "chicken on a stick" because this I will eat while I will not eat a kabob. They are prepared differently and conjure up different images. Also, grilled chicken on a stick is classic street food and what I always look for when attending festivals. "Chicken on a stick" will always appeals to kids as well as adults. All of that aside, based on what I tasted today I would definitely visit their restaurant and recommend that you do the same. I am glad I found them! read more

I have been to Sam's several times. I love his burgers, they are so juicy and delicious. But, I have to say on my third trip, I was let down. I realize that with Sam being the owner, he has other responsibilities; but since he wasn't cooking this day. The food suffered. The burger I ordered medium, wasn't even a little pink, was dry and burnt. Some of the parts were burnt to the point of the burger being crunchy. My wife had suggested a restaurant in our new town. I checked the reviews, and they were not good. But Sam's had great reviews on both Yelp and Travel Advisor, so I was really looking forward to it. I already knew they were small (about 9 tables with a seating capacity of around 32) I knew we would have to wait for our food (all food cooked to order) but the reviews insisted it was worth the wait. It wasn't. I ordered the combination kabob, without tomato, and the steak rare. I got tomato and well done steak. Well, one piece might have been considered medium well. Had to flag down the server and ask her to take it away and remove it from our bill. That will give you three stars. But no one apologizing? No one asking how they can make it right? We have had take out, breakfast, lunch and dinner at this restaurant. EVERY SINGLE TIME it is excellent. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is made to order, from scratch. The burgers are amazing. The flatbreads are really good. Hands down, the gyro platter is my favorite menu item so far with the burgers being a very close second. Breakfast is not your typical pancake joint...they have a huge selection of versions of eggs benedict and omlets as well as breakfast platters. This is my third time at Sam's on Main and I've liked it each time. This time, we were warned that the kitchen would be slow due to understaffing. We had a party of nine on a Saturday and we sat outside on patio with umbrellas at 5:30 pm because there was no room inside. It was still hot but thankfully the trees helped shade us from the sun. Food and server were very good though it took about 30 minutes or more for the entrees to come out. Server kept our glasses full while we waited for our food. We got the pita and hummus appetizer which came out quickly. I had the gyro meal that was quite good. A couple of us got the baklava and it didn't disappoint. Kitchen accommodated special requests and I didn't hear any complaints from anyone. Great for a casual or dress casual lunch or dinner. A little loud inside for an intimate dinner but the predominantly Greek menu was full of variety and healthy choices. Our family enjoyed it and we went across the Railyard to Railyard Axehouse afterwards. Only complaint sitting outside was the loud music from the Mexican restaurant across the street at the Railyard. Went to Sam's on 8/8/20 for lunch with my wife,it was opened to inside or outside customers. I was told the food was excellent, my wife ordered an appetizer platter, and I ordered a hamburger ( medium). She had two glasses of white and I had two beers. I took over a half hour to get our food, Not only was my Berger was " room temperature ", but it was raw. My wife couldn't even look at it, nor watch me eat it. I've eaten all around the world and this is definitely in the top three if you love beef dishes which I do. Probably the best beef Aju I've ever had in my life. Also, potatoes are normally a side. The price range of the menu allows for a weeknight meal of a sandwich or burger all the way to a special occasion dinner of stuffed trout (yum!!!) or sea bass. The brunch is also very well done. My husband & I decided to check out this new spot our neighbors were talking about. Boy are we glad we did!!! We got there an hr before closing and ordered our food to go. The owner and his wife both greeted us with a warm welcome. We ordered the fried flounder sandwich with fries, chicken shawarma with fries and the fried green tomatoes. OMG!!! The flounder was HUGE with a crispy buttermilk batter, inside flaky and juicy on a lightly toasted bun. The fries were fried to perfection. The Chicken shawarma my husband ordered was juicy, the vegetables fresh, and the tzatziki sauce was a cool & creamy compliment. As for the fried green tomatoes with the red pepper coulis sauce they were Delish crispy coating, juicy tomato just like I like it. The portions were really sizable for the price. I am in love with this place. New found gem in Grayson. I only found out about it because it's across the grass from the new Beren's ice cream location. Always wanted to try out their dinner, but I also heard that their brunch was good. It was super easy to just call and order over the phone, and for them to let me know how long it will take. Once I arrived, it was kind of confusing on where to go and pick up my food. The restaurant is very small, and there definitely was NO SOCIAL DISTANCING happening. But, it was quick for me to just pay and get my food. I definitely would only come back to eat at the restaurant if it was outside seating. But, I ordered the southern fried chicken eggs Benedict. My mother ordered the Gyro omelette. Lastly, my father ordered plain French toast and a side of bacon. Both the omelette and eggs Benedict came with a side of country potatoes. The country potatoes are the best thing ever. They are so delicious! It was also very filling and enough for breakfast the next morning. We love Sam's food! We loved the old location, and I'll always make a point to stop at the new location when I am in Grayson. The Hummus is the best. Travis was our waiter when we visited a couple of days ago, and it was honestly the best service we have had in a long time. It was refreshing and he was super polite and well mannered and everything came perfectly on time. We loved the patio seating in the new upgraded DT Grayson area. Little hole in the wall restaurant with amazing food and service! Out of town and found this spot via Yelp. Actually drove past it because the sign on building is a bit faded but glad we turned around to look for it. Parked in the back and went thru the back door. Actually was not sure if we were supposed to do that but we were quickly greeted by a friendly wait staff. Looked around and saw the huge portions of food on everyone's plate and expected the menu prices to be high but found them to be fair for the amount. The chef who I think might have been Sam greeted us as well and thru the opening in the wall you could see him cook out food which I like. Our food was served fresh and very hot. Good food, but since they moved to their new location and raised prices by 25-30%, it's no longer a good value. They were already a bit on the high side even before the move, but I just can't justify going there with the new prices. We used to eat there about once every two weeks or so, but sadly we haven't been back since the price hike / new location. For example, a basic gyro w/side was already overpriced before the move at $9.49, but now it's $12! Around $5 will get you one just as good (and sometimes better) at many other locations around. The chicken shawarma, which used to be our go-to, also went from $9.49 to $12. A steak sandwich will set you back $14, or add $1.50 for mushrooms/peppers/onions. Yikes! I'm sure their rent went up with the new location, but perhaps they should have found some place more affordable. Prices like these are hard to justify in Grayson. For comparison, Parkside District not-too-far-down-the-street in Lawrenceville barely pulls it off, but they offer more of a "foodie" experience. Sam's on Main is much more basic fare - Typically good food, but not something that warrants the new prices. read more
