This place is our go-to Greek restaurant in the Lawrenceville area. Never once had anything that wasn't delicious. We've had a good number of the menu items: gyro platter, Greek pizza (our favorite), kofta kabob, adana kabob platter, stromboli, spanakopita, dolmades, baklava (both walnut and pistachio), chicken sumac...and probably others I'm forgetting. We order takeout most of the time. In addition to our main order (usually a large Greek pizza), we usually get a pound of the gyro meat, half-pint of tabouli, half-pint of hummus, spanakopita, and baklava. The service is unrivaled. The owners recognize us when we come in and remember our favorites, including the fact that my housemate can't eat bell peppers, so they know to leave it off the pizza. I usually go to the restaurant next door after getting my nails done but I wanted to try something different. When I walked in there was a young guy cleaning the floor and he did not speak, didn't even look up from what he was doing. When I walked up to the counter where the menus were, a lady came out from the kitchen and greeted me. It took a few minutes to decide what I wanted because they have an extensive menu. I settled on the grounded lamb or lamb kabob, as she called it and a mixed nut roll. I waited about 15 minutes to get my food. There are plenty of seats and tables and a tv if you want to dine-in. I decided to eat my meal in the car. The lamb kabob was good but it wasn't as flavorful as I anticipated. It was missing some kind of spice and I couldn't figure out which one. It does not automatically come with the Greek sauce which was disappointing. The mixed nut roll was SO GOOD! It reminded me of an almond joy with a flakey crust. I will come back to try other menu items but I probably won't get the lamb kabob again. read more

This is my first time eating here and I love gyros so I decided to stop for lunch. You order at the register off a large menu overhead that has lots of pictures of the food to help you decide. I went with the Super Gyro platter (gyro with peppers, onions, cheese and mushrooms). It was served with a small Greek salad and curly fries. The hot items were hot the cold items were cold. That Greek dressing on the salad was delicious! The tzatziki was also delicious and I'm very particular about that sauce. I would have preferred the gyro meat to have been cut thicker as it was wafer thin but the flavor was there. All delicious. The restaurant is old, yes. However o found it to be clean and tidy. For some reason I am on a pita wrap kick, I have been eating them faithfully over the last month and this place is not far from me so I had to check them out..... the first thing that I noticed was the "not so friendly" service! The grumpy man was impatient and interrupted me as if he knew what I was going to ask before I finished asking- don't do that! Secondly, the seasoning and the fried onions and the overly oily meat did not sit well with me, I like the wrap to taste refreshing instead on warm and oily ( if that makes sense ). I also ordered falafel's, I was not allowed to order as a side item in the place of fries. Very nice family owned restaurant ambience is TOGO style or sit down for a quick lunch. The food presentation in the Styrofoam to go box is neatly and organized. Overall service was friendly and I believed my meals were freshly cooked to order.. especially since I was one of the first customers of the day. Over all the food was barely edible.. we had to trash the veggie plate because it taste was horrible. The lentil soup had a old sour taste, as if it was spoiled.. We placed a total of three orders & only half of the gyros was eaten after removing the warm Brown lettuce & old large hunks of tomato end pieces everything else was tossed in the dumpster! I was greeted when I walked through the door. Staff was kind and patient as I was looking through the menu. I ordered the Open Face Gyro Platter for $11.95 and the Super Gyro for $6.45. Keep in mind that this is a fast service type of restaurant. Your expectations should fit the type of place. The building is new and there was plenty of parking. Entry is pleasant and clean. Walk to the rear to the counter and review the many options. The gent working the counter was kindly and helpful. I ordered one of the gyro plates. There are three or four. Sorry I don't recall which number it was. See the picture. It was a good size order for about $9. I also got a baklava which I ate before I recalled I wanted a pic. The gyro was spot on. I really appreciate that the lettuce was crispy. Yes that fresh. Heaven can be found when chewing the baklava. Oh the nuttiness and sweet honey! I'll be going back to try other items. This is happened to me second time today when I place an order like an hour ago and when I went there to pick that up the lady at the register said we don't have your order in the system. Then she argued and told me that you might have called at wrong number so I showed her my phone and then she is like ohh my son might got the order I don't know . She said let's make it now . I mean someone ready to have the dinner and being told we don't have your order in the system . I like this place a lot. It isn't really inexpensive but very tasty. I especially like the Sumac Chicken, sort of like lemon pepper taste!

The food is consistently delicious!! We've been here at least times for lunch during the work day. Service is always speedy, consistent and meeting or exceeding our expectations. The restaurant has a lot of meal options, almost something for everyone regardless of dietary concerns, but we consistently order our favorites - Sumac Chicken and/or Greekk Salad with Chicken. Both meals are large and could technically be split into two servings, but it tastes so good that you end up devouring the entire thing. The thinly sliced chicken used in both dishes is seasoned with garlic, lemon, olive oil and other spices, grilled to perfection and delicious! I cannot speak for any of the other dishes, but this place never disappoints and is worth trying out. I've dined in only once and come sometimes to purchase the dried fig grocery products they have here. When I dined in, I got the plate with a gyro, drink, salad, and fries. Everything was on a small foam plate and both of us left still hungry. I thought maybe it was just us or an off day. Now days we just order to go and come home to eat. I only live 5 minutes away and the fries are always hard, cold, and gross. This has happened twice now and it honestly tastes like old fries that have been re-fried. I really suggest the business make sure each plate that leaves their place is fresh versus sending out old fries. Customers will appreciate the extra mile, trust me. 4 stars for food quality and speed of service! This is my second favorite Mediterranean/Greek Spot; the food is fresh and the service is good. This quaint spot is easy to miss if you are flying down the road but it's definitely worth a visit. The inside reminds me of a grocer mixed with a cafe. They have shelving units on the side that have a variety of snacks that normally aren't found in America. They also have drink coolers with a variety of cold drinks to enjoy your food with. The menu is easy to read and they offer lamb, kabobs, calzones, a gyro pizza (Which I'll be trying on my next visit) and more. The cashier was nice. He promptly took our order and the food was out within 5-10 minutes. The cashier directed us to the condiments if we needed any. Our food was delicious. My girlfriend and I both got the #1 combo (Gyro Platter with Fries). The meat was powered with flavor, I could taste hints of thyme and rosemary and it was juicy! The onions, lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and the tazeki sauce was creamy. I wish the tazeki sauce was thicker and more tangy but it complimented the gyro. I also wish the gyro meat was distributed evenly. My girlfriends gyro was packed with meat and mine wasn't. The fries were also crispy and pipping hot! For 2 Gyro platters a water and a canned soda we paid $17.47. Very reasonable for a delicious meal. Check it out if you are ever in the Sugarloaf/Lawrenceville area! read more

Called to order lunch and asked what sides came with the Souvlaki Platter, the guy had an attitude and told his mother "take the order because I don't have time for this shit"(his exact words). Disappointing, simply disappointing. Nothing was bad, but absolutely nothing was worth the price. We ordered two gyro sandwiches with had twice as much lettuce as meat, what a RIP OFF, and we got a side of Baba Ganoush, first what is with the overwhelming smoke taste? We could not tell if it was a smoked oil, or if they burned the eggplant, either way it was TOO MUCH. Second, it was lumpy. I have never had it lumpy before. Not a complaint, maybe its their style, but we didn't care for it. I will say the portion size was nice for the price, but they only give 2 standard pita for that much dip. It has been a long wait for a really good gyro and kabob place in the area. Several have come and gone, few were consistent. Athens is great. Gyros are loaded and proper, cut from the slow roasting gyro meat spool. Kabobs are cooked up fresh, and you can even buy frozen lamb kabobs to make at home on a later date. The variety of items is typical of Mediterranean cuisine restaurants and includes chicken shawarma, adona kabob, falafel and wonderful baklava, made fresh in store. I will be coming back for some of those items. The owner, I assume, is friendly and welcoming. Service is quick. They have well spaced seating for those who are concerned.
