I like Sam's Club for the "scan and go" shopping options it's really great! No waiting in line for self check or a cashier! I wish all grocery stores would have this option. I purchased items we need in bulk such as toilet paper, paper towels, razor blades and bottled water. I have always found their steaks, fruit and dairy products to be restaurant quality. I was disappointed to find their apples and pears have a waxed coating unless you purchase organic. I also wish they had more low sodium options. The prices have gone up the last few years due to shipping costs but overall the products I purchase most frequently are still a good value for the quantity. I have never liked how they scan and check your purchase items as you exit the store but I understand theft is a problem. read more

We stopped in Sam's Club to grab a few items. This store is nice, smaller than other locations so the section isn't as great. It's extremely organized. The price of produce is usually better than grocery stores. I tend to pick up green grapes whenever I'm in a Sam's. They are always fresh. More than half the registers have been converted to self-checkout so it makes the process much faster. read more

Staff are less than friendly except in the pharmacy. The pharmacists and techs are very nice but the actual store sucks. You will ALWAYS wait in line. They close the cafe early. Many days they are out of stuff in the cafe. Their drink machine is hit or miss. Not sure what the point of scan and go is when you have to wait longer in the door line than a register. They also fired a man with autism years ago as they would not make accommodations for him anymore. He was seriously the mascot of the store. Fortunately, another business (Harris Teeter) offered him a job and he has been there since but they are not very nice people here. read more

Many of you in the Florence community know a young man with autism who has been a fixture at Sam's Club for over 20 years. Frank Eason, who warmly greeted you as you entered the store, was put on leave without pay by Sam's Club on July 17, 2019. Due to changes within the facility, job descriptions were rewritten and Frank was asked to perform all tasks at the service desk in addition to his greeting customers as they entered the store. Accommodations were requested due to Frank's autism, but Sam's Club denied them. The following day, Frank was put on leave without pay. We are asking for help from the community that has loved and supported him his entire life. A man who "turns you loose" at Sam's and talks non-stop about sports, is in need. He is looking for a job and also health insurance. He lives independently and is struggling to meet monthly expenses since Sam's was his only source of income. Frank describes his laid off condition as "just wrong." He said he knows that he was let go due to his autism and further said "I can't help it that I am autistic." He told us recently that he misses "his people", not just his co-workers but the customers who enter Sam's Club. We live 45 minutes away and try to shop at Sam's at least once a month. EVERYTIME we go to Sam's they are sold out of everything. This trip, we had to wait in a line for 20 minutes to get inside, the cafe was closed and my husband had to use the restroom which was closed, has to go outside to use the temporary bathroom OUTSIDE then had to wait in line 20 more minutes to get back inside. We will drive farther to go to another Sams location. read more

This Sam's is really nice, clean and very organized. The staff was super helpful for items in the correct location. [See, everything is organized even the employees know where everything is at] The steaks here are really good... Very spacious. Lots of employees working the cash registers. No lines. This Sams club is one of the nicer stores that I have shopped at. Usually there is store employees that are available to assist you with items you may be having trouble finding. The products are neatly organized and displayed. I have yet to see stations for samples of current products or items. There is the machine you can scan your Sams club card and receive a free sample of soap, or candy, etc. read more

Stopped for fuel and soda. Fuel purchase was quick and easy and the nice new pumps worked great. We then parked and went inside for a quick soda. One person at the prepared food counter and she was indifferent to every customer. We got our cups after several minutes then found that the Diet Coke taps were only producing water. The gal behind the counter went over and gave the hoses a shake then called on the intercom for help. Not wanting to wait for the outcome we made another choice and left. At no time were we spoke to by any of the staff including the greeter who barely looked at our member card. I am sure glad we do not live here and have to deal with these people on a weekly shopping trip. 5 stars for the automatic fuel station and 1 star for the inside operation where people are involved. read more

Just moved here from Ohio. Came into Sam's club paid $50 for a membership. Went to eat at the cafe there. The drink fountain was out. The lady's working a the cafe were rude and very disrespectful. Went to a manager or a CSM I thought to speak to a manager. When she called I he manager up to the cafe. The CSM was making faces and pointing at me as I was walking behind her. My husband seen this. He said something to the manager about it. The manager said she seen it too and it was not okay, she'd talk to her. We all ate and began to shop. My daughter which is 25 with her there children under 6 yrs old. Was looking at the underage armor shorts. An employee came up on us and asked my daughter to not lean on the clothes. She replied she was trying to fix the sign she had knocked off by accident trying to find the sales price of the shorts. The employee then was asked what the sales price was she replied the prices are right there. So we placed the shorts down and proceeded to walk away. I said I paid $50 for a membership to be treated like shit in a store not once but twice. The employee got sassy and replied she wasn't being no what way. She proceed to inform me she pays for the same membership as I do. She continued to get smart and loud. When I went to speak to a store manager the manager was apologetic. But did not do anything to fix the situation. Another lady ( the same CSM making faces) came up talking about white people this that.. it didn't have a damn thing to do about the color of mine or the employee skin. It was a fact that you treat people how you want to be treated. Disrespect is Disrespect. Last time I will ever shop in that store. I did call Sam's corporate store and made a complaint. This sam's club is really hit or miss. More often than not, they'll have what I'm looking for but then they'll randomly switch out products that they carry and I have to either switch too or find a new place to buy what I'm looking for. For a while we were buying salt for water softeners there and then they stopped carrying it. We asked and they had no idea of whether they were ever going to carry it again. Okay, no big deal. I can buy that stuff at Lowe's but it's still a bit annoying. Overall their selection of products has improved since their expansion but all too often their produce is woefully disappointing. You have to be careful of expiration dates on their salad mixes because frequently I'll find already expired bags sitting in the cooler. Generally they're easy to spot because the lettuce has already begun to wilt. They're still one of the best places to go for produce in town in terms of pricing so just be picky about what you buy. I'd be great if they monitored their produce stock a little better because it's seriously gross when I pick up a bag of onions and a swarm of fruit flies comes out. I definitely just walk away at that point because yuck. read more

Lysol $118.00? This morning I ventured to Sam's to purchase the extremely hard to find Lysol spray. As a card carrying member for well over a decade, was informed I would need to upgrade my membership to the plus status to enter before 9:00 am. There is already a very long long line and only 10 are allowed in at a time. By waiting you would probably miss this liquid gold. The upgrade would cost an additional $55.00 above the already $45.00 for regular membership (which I knew was due). I would be paying $100 to enter at that specific time. I sincerely felt I was being held hostage just to get some Lysol! Really Sam's!!! During this time of a pandemic, you think this type of business behavior is appropriate for faithful customers who have supported you for so many years? I'm sorely disappointed and will really have to think long and hard if this is where my family, friends or I want to continue spending my money! read more

Costco puts Sam's Club to shame, no con test. I used to live near the Charleston, SC Costco but live here in Florence now. I signed up last week knowing Sam's was as good as Costco in terms of selection and price, but I didn't realize how much of a difference it was! The main difference is that Costco has its own brand, Kirkland, for just about everything and it is just as good as the name brands, and sometimes better, for a fraction of the cost. I was surprised that i did't see "Sam's Club" brand hardly anywhere. There are certain items I used to get at Costco that I would have to pay 3 times the price for at Sam's!!! I am not kidding, literally 3 times the price because they only offer the name brand and not a generic. read more

I could not be more disgusted. I went to get a front tire and spare tire changed. When I opened the trunk of my car, my new spare tire was sitting on top of my dust ruffle. I had just got it back from the seamstress for alterations. It wasn't a cheap dust ruffle even before putting money into having it altered. They were too lazy to even put the tire where it belonged. But of course he pointed out to me that is was an extra $15 to change the spare tire. I called the manager, Robbie. He said he would give me a $30 car to use in Sam's. That won't even cover the dry cleaning. read more

I usually love SAMs but the customer service here's sucks so bad. I have called for the last 3 weeks to get prices on mattress because I'm not going to get a SAMs card just to go look and see what they are and every time I get put on hold and transferred to different departments and when I finally ask to speak to a manager he tells me that it was probably a new Person and told me that they had an issue today. Whatever. Thanks for reminding me why I canceled my membership. This place should be shut down and restarted.
