By far the best pizza in Kankakee, IL. I f you find yourself in this town, don't bother with the national chain pizza places. This is a local joint, with a sit-down bar and tables/rooms for eating and maybe watching some tv. Staff is attentive and competent. We usually order their terrific pizza for takeout or delivery. I placed an order for delivery tonight for the American Pie pizza and there was an issue with the toppings. I called to discuss the issue and was greeted with respect, sincere apologies and professionalism. They remade and redelivered the pizza and it was amazing and still hot when we got it. They staff there is amazing and the lady who handled my issue was very kind and sincere. I highly recommend Sammy's Pizza at any location. However, my favorite is the Kankakee location. My favorite pizzas are the Tough Guy and American Pie- it's loaded with flavor. I highly recommend!! BEST PIZZA IN TOWN. Below is a pic of the first one and then the remake. read more

This place has been around sense I was a kid and the pizza is the best in town hands down

Pizza smelled and tasted almost sour...like the cheese was bad. Way too much sauce. My husband had mushrooms and was in the bathroom sick all night. 6:30 in the evening and only us and one other couple in there. That says something because their rival was too busy to even get in the door. Grew up loving this pizza. Will not be back. read more

You walk in, and the brown paneling surrounds you, creating this comfortable little dive bar feel. Then you try the food, and wow! I had the antipasto salad (huge and fresh), the wings (also huge and fresh) and the American Pie pizza. The pizza is a thin crust, with loads and loads of toppings. Why is it that you get notice that your food is on its way and 45 minutes later you have to call to find out where it is. Food arrives cold and the drivers says she had low tires had to stop. It was a 15 minute delivery! The manager Anna told us things happen in peoples lives and we pretty much need to suck it up snd eat our $60 cold meal! This is not customer service I would expect from this establishment that we order from all the time! I didn't want to give them a star But had to to post! They deserve no star! The husband always love the pizza, Sunday they have specials...My favorite has always been the Philly Steak sandwich (no green peppers for me). Just had the best meal EVER! We ordered for delivery- My husband got the fettuccini alfredo and we were pleasantly surprised to see the chicken wrapped separately for extra freshness! The pasta itself was amazing - creamy and hot! I got the smokehouse chicken sandwich which was HUGE! They also separately wrapped my toppings (lettuce, tomato, etc) which was greatly appreciated. The food is usually great but the service is awful. Waited 20 minutes to get waited on and got up and left. Three people behind the bar and no service. Seriously waitress said she was coming to the table in a few minutes only said it because we were walking out. They need more efficient help. It's such a shame really do love their pizza. read more

The food quality at Sammy's Kankakee has gotten so bad and there is absolutely zero consistency with the food from order to order. Amaya has raised their prices to much and the quality is really lacking. As a regular delivery customer I'm done with paying top dollars for cold food that takes 60-90 mins to be delivered and it's cold and more times then not the order is wrong usually missing something. Sammy's used to be a really good Resturant with good prices until they started expanding to every town within 30 miles. They seem to have forgotten what used to make them good. Sorry Scott and Brittany but I can't waste anymore money in your Kankakee location to continually getting cold and wrong orders and a premium price from this Resturant. read more

2 stars because the food is decent. Good jumbo wings and fries. The SERVICE on the other hand -ATROCIOUS. I would recommend picking up and eating at home rather than sitting with no drink, no food and no service and watching 3 people stand behind the bar and talk as if you're nonexistent. They might have 1 waitress who actually helps people. Not sure what the other 2 are doing. read more

I love in California, and every time I visit my Grandma here in Kankakee, without fail, I eat here nearly everyday. By far, the BEST pizza I've ever had. I've brought friends with me, and everyone agrees it's DELICIOUS. If you do not eat pizza here, you are crazy. read more

I was skeptical for anyone to take this restaurant over when Sam sold it, but little did I know how talented Scott and all the staff are! Good good food, and more of it than ever with new menu items and more locations. Everyone is always friendly, they've got great entertainment, happy to see locally owned places succeed! Sammy's is your neighborhood go to bar and restaurant for some good pizza and beer. Hanging out at this place after a soccer game was a good time because it has a really casual atmosphere. Have the pizza when you come here. Their thin pizza is cheesy and crispy. The server we had was good and friendly. read more

All I can say about Sammy's Pizza, is that they need to get into the insurance business because pizza and sandwiches has eluded them. Apart from the hour and 40 minute wait, my $75 worth of food was lukewarm and one of the highlights of the meal was two BLT sandwiches which are described on the menu as having bacon bacon and yes more bacon. Upon receipt of these sandwiches it was covered in wilted lettuce and it had exactly one piece of bacon ripped in half. I called the store spoke with a female employee who guaranteed me that I would be put into contact with the manager of the store. 3 hours later! I called again complained again and then 30 minutes later I was contacted by the manager who was a young female. She made it clear that she did not understand the situation she accused me of eating the food which I had not eaten and told her she should send someone to come pick it up and give me a partial refund she refused I told her I do not live in the area and that store credit will do me no good whatsoever she did not seem to care. Therefore, although I wasted $75 and over five and a half hours of my time that I can never get back I'm hoping to help you future customers to avoid at all costs the abomination known as Sammy's Pizza. There was so little bacon on this BLT that Muslims can feel free to eat it without worry. read more

Stopped in tonight after a long drive home. My fiancé ordered ahead of time online while we were on the road, which was very convenient. We got there a little early for when it was supposed to be done, but still only had to wait 5 minutes for the pizza to be ready, which isn't too bad. We got the Sammy Special with onions, which we both agreed tasted very good. Our only complaint was that we both felt the pricing was a tad high. We got a 12" pizza and spent close to $20 on it. Other than that, I'd say it was a very enjoyable experience. We'll be back to try some of the other offerings, I'm sure. read more

Wow! I am a fan of Sammy's from their steak sandwich to the pizza bread. They have topped all of that for St. Patrick's corned beef and cabbage dinner...YUM YUM...I ordered it to go from the Momence location. Thank you so much, never again do I have to pay for a meal that I look forward to and am so disappointed in time and time again. It was packed so nicely for a take out, but the meat melted in my mouth and the carrots were so sweet without being over cooked, the potatoes and cabbage had great flavor. Now let's talk about the bread that was served with this meal...omg it's amazing. Thank you again. You should be so proud of the new location it's beautiful and I like the people that work there but I love the Kankakee 5th ave location. I liked the pizza and sidewinder fries but... The atmosphere and overall experience ruined it for me. This is a poorly lit bar with a small dining room. Not good for kids or families. The kitchen staff was loud and being rude to the waitress. read more

Since place has changed management it has gone down hill. Manager has no care for the customers as she fails in getting the customer served. She blames all the others for the failures even though she was the one to fail and not get us our drinks after an hour. The food took just as long even after complaining it seemed to go in one ear and out of the other. When the food and drinks came they were not cooked to order as she never properly wrote the order down and tried to do it by memory. The drinks were nasty, and this was after asking here to make different ones which she obviously had no clue how to make. She wants to blame everyone else and not take responsibility. As a manager and the one who screwed it up she should learn to take responsibility. Please make a change and let people know and maybe just maybe we will return. read more

The pizza had too much cheese on it. Chunks of sausage. If I want chunks of sausage I would have ordered a sausage sandwich. All the great food is up north. Sad to say this . I live in the area. It seems like once I like a restaurant in the area they go ahead and change something like they did here. Man has this place gone downhill. This pizza used to be really good. The ingredients they use now are very cheap. The Sausage was nothing better than the same stuff they use on a frozen pizza you find at the grocery store. The crust wasn't even crispy. Cheap processed garbage is what you get from this place.
