Revisiting my statement on the food being decent.... It is not anymore. The pizza is terrible, wings aren't good( sitting in a puddle of grease). We frequent Sammy's often. Their pizza is my favorite in town. However our visit this evening was rough. Ordered an iced tea and when it came and took a sip, it was terrible. Anyone who is a tea drinker knows that tea can go rancid and get moldy. Well this tea was NASTY. I took it up to the bar and asked to speak to a manager and told her they needed to dump and clean the tea because it was going to make someone sick. I was literally trying to help. A bit later the waitress brought out a new tea - SAME NASTY TEA! Now it wasn't the waitresses' fault since I gave it directly to the manager. Obviously the manager didn't communicate to the staff that the product had gone bad. I took it back up to the bar and, admittedly, was less happy about being served disgusting tea this time. The waitress then tells me the tea is fine that she is pregnant and drinks it often. The manager agrees and says it is cleaned daily. I asked her to go give it a try and she then tells me she doesn't drink tea. You'd think they'd simply have just dumped it if a customer told them it was moldy tasting but they continued to serve it and argue about it being fresh. So, I ordered their beef ravioli which come with 2 big meatballs and a side salad. WOW!! The ravioli is huge!! It comes with about 6 of them, the two meatballs are very tasty and as I said BIG. The side salad is fresh and tasty. The delivery on a Saturday night was very quick which was a surprise since it was a Saturday night. We ordered two steak sandwiches from the online menu for $16.99 and when they delivered our order they we charged $ 22.99 each. I called Sammy's and the guy check the menu and they weren't that high on the menu either. He said he would tell them to update prices and hung up. Those sandwiches were not worth $23. I don't know what happened as the service and food used to be darn good. Placed order through the online order process on their website (5:12pm). Our order was a 16" toughguy, 10" mushroom/bacon, 10" pep/sausage, fried portabella and garlic bread. Order was processed at said to be ready for pickup in 25-35 minutes. I was watching the order tracking feature for fun. At 5:32 it said it was ready. Upon arrival we waited until 6:16 to pick up our order. Asked twice on the status with each reply being 5 minutes. I asked the server what the hold up had been. I was told they had received an order for 18 pizzas which was why everyone was waiting. It appeared to me that there had been at least 6 others waiting for pickups and another 3-5 waiting inside to eat at the tables. One couple got up and canceled their order. The pizza was good and what I expected. The mushrooms had minimal breading and were stone cold. The garlic bread was cold as well. The only reason for two stars was the pizza was what I wanted. Found it odd that no one (all who waited) was offered any coupons for their wait. I by no means expect handouts but definitely appreciate the thought for the inconvenience. We did get a sorry but that was it. My family and I will not be returning. read more

I am always fair in good and bad reviews to precursor but this experience sucked. We tried this location for the first time tonight for dinner because we love the Sammies in Manteno but didn't want to drive that far. We walked in and waited to be seated we weren't sure if we were supposed to wait because 2 servers walked past us and didn't acknowledge us so we sat down at the closest high top no one so much as looked our direction even the bar tender who was right in our line of sight to at least acknowledge us being there. After over 5 minutes of two servers hanging at the end of the bar talking and a server walking past us a couple times with no one saying anything we just left. read more

Placed order over the phone waited 45 minutes when I arrived they did not have my order. Employee insisted I called a different location however my call history had this number. I spoke to the Manager not helpful at all. She confirmed that I called but my order was not put in the kitchen. She wanted me to wait 20 minutes for my order. I said no there are other options. It was somewhat busy but after sitting for 15 minutes and no one coming to the table we left, What I observed was one server chit chatting with one of her tables. I just ordered takeout and i've never been so disappointed in any restaurant in my entire life. The chicken tenders were 1/3 of the size they were supposed to be, they were full of breading, and all of my food was cold. Also, instead of getting three, i got two. I ordered from the Kanakee location because the last 2 times were from Bourbonnais and they messed it up both times. I received an over well done steak when I ordered rare. Both times. So I decided to order from Kankakee. The driver showed up with out my pizza, because he gave it to another customer. When he returned with the pizza I opened the rest of the food. I asked for chicken breaded hot on my alfredo pasta. It was regular breading so I had to call the restaurant again. Only for the manager to tell me that the cook said it was hot breading and that I was causing an inconvenience for the restaurant. That because the last 2 times I had ordered I had to call and now I am calling again, then it has to be me and my own fault if something is wrong with my food and proceed to hang up on me! I had to call back telling them I wasn't going to pay for the pasta since it already took them 2 and 1/2 hours to get my order to me and it still was correct. read more

We have eaten at Sammy's for many years. The food and service have always been excellent. They have daily specials at the Bourbonnais restaurant that are really good and reasonably priced. If I ever received something that was not what you thought it should be I am absolutely positive that they would go over and above to correct it. That has never happened but it is nice to go to a place that has a reputation for satisfying the customer. I like going there and always feeling like they are happy to see us. Was traveling for business, ordered a pizza to be delivered to my hotel room. Easy online ordering and was able to pay with credit card. Good delivery time with online tracking. Lots of specialty pizza options to choose from with an option to customize. Pizza had a very thin crispy crust with plenty of toppings and was cooked to perfection! My son wanted bacon on our pizza. We ended up with bacon and sausage as I love their huge hunks of sausage. The bacon on the pizza looked like they put about 1/2 a pound of huge hunks of bacon the the thing. The bacon 'bits' were 3 or 4 inches long and an inch wide and cooked all the way through but not super crunchy. By far the best pizza I have ever had with bacon on it. If you look on Facebook, you'll see that Sammy's is by far the most popular pizza place in the area among locals. I eat too much pizza for my own good. And I'm a contrarian, because this might be among the worst pizzas I've ever eaten. Seriously, I'd sooner eat frozen Home Run Inn. I've tried Sammy's no less than three times. The first order was a sausage pizza with two mediocre sandwiches. The toppings were skimpy and the cheese lacked flavor. On the second occasion, I added pepperoni to the sausage with similar result. Having been twice scorned, I decided to try Sammy's one last time because everyone told me the "tough guy" pizza was a house specialty that everyone loves. And I love spicy pizza. The crust was like a flatbread and completely lack flavor. I like extra thin pizza, but this was extreme. I can't describe the flavor of the pizza itself except to say that my wife and I disliked it so much that we threw half of it away. (In my house, that's unthinkable!) Adding insult to injury, we were both up half the night, not feeling well, after eating. Again, I'm in the minority here. My local friends think I am crazy for disliking Sammy's. So you may want to try it. Just don't ask me to tag along. read more

After reading the reviews, I wasn't expecting much but we were in town for a gymnastics meet and this was where the team chose to go prior. I ordered a 10 inch Tough Guy for myself. About 2 hours later half way through my daughter's meet I experienced a level a sickness like never before. If you've seen the infamous scene in the movie, Bridesmaids, that will give you a very good idea of what the Tough Guy did to me. As no one else in my family got sick all weekend and my daughter and I had eaten the same foods all day with the exception of this meal, I'd say the source is obvious. I was only sick for about 4 hours but I was wrecked the entire weekend due to weakness, exhaustion, and little appetite. This use to be our favorite pizza in the area but it has steadily gone downhill. Tonight's pizza was burnt, dried out, hardly had any cheese On it and had a minimal amount of sauce. It was like eating a little bit of ketchup on a saltine. It almost appears that on Sundays when they offer the $5 discount on a large pizza they skimp on everything to reduce their costs. I normally really like Sammy's, however last night was the worst pizza I've ever had in my life. Ordered the Scott special and when the pizza came to our table and my boyfriend and I tasted it we both looked at each other in disgust. After looking at the rest of the pizza we discovered the pizza did not have any sauce on it at all or was supposed to have alfredo sauce. It was also under cooked and almost raw in the middle and the spinach was watery and just made it all look gross when you pulled up the layer of cheese. The waitress was nice and apologized and tried to bring us another pizza but my boyfriend and I were so turned off we just told her no thanks, left a tip and went n grabbed fast food bc we were hungry and over it. Man I'm surprised at the poor reviews! I'm new to the area and have been here twice now. Both times were great experiences. I absolutely love the thin crust pizza. Omg it's so good. I gave four stars instead of five because I really love bottled microbrew beers, and they don't carry it. That's my only complaint. Everything else is phenomenal. read more
