I like the 80s diner look and feel of this place, very nostalgic. I had the shawarma which I liked but I wasn't asked what toppings I would like in the shawarma, which is common in other restaurants. However, the donair was inedible! The sauce is extremely sweet and ruins the whole wrap. It's also a lot of sauce and makes it into a soppy mess. Prices are a little high and it's cash only. read more

I used to love the donairs here. The quality has really gone downhill, to the point that it doesn't taste like a donair. Also, the conspiracy theory papers in the establishment are a BIG TURNOFF. Won't recommend it to anyone soon. read more

This is Burlingtons go to Donair and shawarma joint. It's been opened for several decades and it's full of regulars. It's Cash only!! $$

Big fan of this donair. The hot sauce is very very hot and takes me back to my younger days in Blackpool England challenging anyone to a hot eating competetition. On the side of the hot sauce being hot, everything is great tasty and fresh! read more

This is a Lebanese shawarma/falafel/donair place. The other donair place we've been to in Burlington is a east coast style donair - Montreal pizza place. This donair place is much larger and has plenty of seating both tables and counter style along the side wall and front window. Here you line up and order and they eventually bring your order to you on a tray with your drinks if any. Today I ordered the Donair combo not to be confused with the combination plate. The Donair combo included a regular sized donair which is the meat, sauce, diced onions all wrapped in a pita inside a paper wrap inside a plastic wrap. You have a choice of rice or salad and a drink as well. This I found well wrapped and because of the plastic and the tight paper wrap there's no chance it will leak all over. This donair was quite generous with the meat and it was quite filling. The sauce which is always a bit sweet was good but there wasn't too much. The sauce is a bit runny and not thick like tzatziki. The side of rice was really red in color. I don't know what made it so red but it wasn't spicy and it had a different taste to it but it was also good. The combo after tax was 15 dollars. The combination plate is what I will get next time. It's more of what I tend to order which is a plate of your choice of meat (shawarma or donair, rice, salad, pita and a drink. Their menu is pretty large and they even have a variety of desserts as well. This establishment was basically pretty full when we arrived and most of the tables were already taken. They only take cash but there's a ATM inside. There's also a bank in the strip mall if you don't want to use theirs. read more

Sammy's Donair - Front counter - Mediterranean Near Me - Burlington, Ontario

Thought I would give Sammy's a try as Halifax Donair was closed. Ordered the Chicken Shawarma and a Donair. Awful Awful Awful If you like your meat dried out and microwaved then this is the place for you. Never going back again read more

When I moved to Burlington I was desperately looking for a donair similar to the ones I used to get in the Ottawa Valley. I have to say up front, this is nothing like the east coast style donair with the sweet sauce. This has a Mediterranean twist, so don't get it confused. Purely because of that, I was disappointed. While it was good, it just wasn't what I was looking for. The meat was great, just the right amount of spice. Price is fair for the amount of food you get. It's in a busy plaza, so there isn't always tons of parking, but it was worth the wait. Can't say I will be back as I prefer the east coast style, but it's a great lunch option in Burlington. read more

Great restaurant for...well Donairs. Great food. The price for the Regular Donair is now $9.30. Still great value for the tasty meal. Mine and my wife's favourite local food spot read more

Halal meat is served here per verbal assurance from the Owner. Tried the Donair wrap which has a sweet tahini sauce. It's interesting since not use to a sweet flavor in these type of wraps before. I also tried the chicken kebab wrap which is more traditional and I liked that one better. Fast and friendly service. read more

Sammy's Donair - Mediterranean Near Me - Burlington, Ontario

Okay I know everyone probably already knows this but I'm new to Burlington and just happened to try Sammy's for the first time today, and OMFG that was some of the best donair I've ever had in my life! I had the beef today (will definitely try chicken and falafel and other stuff on subsequent visits) and the $6 "junior" size was a plenty filling lunch in the midst of a long bike ride. Holy moly that garlic sauce...I'm going to dream about it tonight. May have to go back tomorrow. If you have never been, drop whatever you're doing and go now. read more

A little pricey for fast food, but this is the best Donair this side of Halifax. Sammy's has been a staple in Burlington for more than two decades, and I always make it a point to get at least one visit in, anytime I'm in the golden horseshoe. The quality of the meat, pita, and veggies are excellent, but the real show-stopper is the sauce. Sweet and buttery, I'd put this sauce on everything if I could. For the other reviewer, who tried to go off-the-menu--get over it. Sammy's is usually a busy place, and they don't go off the menu to keep the line moving. If everything was cook to order, it would take a lot longer for the rest of us. Fun Fact: The owner's name is Noble, not Sammy. He named the business for his brother, who put up financing against his plumbing business (Sam Harb and Sons). read more

Have you ate a donair at Sammy's Donair yet. You Must! The sauce, onions and tomatoes combined with the freshest meat and pita was undeniably the most enjoyable donair ever. Well at least since the last time I ordered one at Sammy's Donair. The service is also wonderful too. Thanks, Heather read more

First of all, he microwaved the meat right infront of me so i wasnt expecting much.. secondly the donair was drenched in overly sweet sauce. It tasted okay, too sweet, microwaved meat... wouldnt go back. read more

LOVE my Sammy Donair!!!! Have been going here for DECADES! Falafels, Meat AND Sauce are BAR NONE! Baklava desserts are FABULOUS! EVERYTHING is the BEST I have EVER tasted! People there are INCREDIBLE!!! Nobel has a Goldmine on his hands... ;) Definitely HIGHLY Recommended!! Respectfully, Alison Myrden Burlington, ON read more

The food here is good most of the time. Sometimes it is dry but the sauce makes up for that. I am very particular when it comes to dry food. Their sauce is really good and i usually ask for it on the side because it gets quite messy. Overall, great food if you catch it at the right time! read more

Good portion and tasty food I love their donair with their special sauce I will come back again read more

First time yummy I really liked it. Next time I saw the two microwaves and felt it was just dry meat. So is ok for something fast but that's almost it. Sorry really disappointed read more

Food = Very good, decent portions a bit pricey Service = Horrible, the people behind the counter glare at you and don't speak clearly, they talk very quiet, and if you say pardon me they yell at you. They take CASH only, but they have an ATM machine on site that charges 1.50 per transaction I usually order a chicken shawarma read more

Sammy's is solid. Great Donair and the sauce is to die for. We used to get donairs every Friday instead of pizza when my Dad worked in Burlington. read more

I'm not a Donair person but I can say this was very very tasty! Their sauce is the best I've had. All sauces are made there. Such a unique taste! The price is right for the quality! We had the Donair plate 9.75 each and it was not too much not too little! Will be back! read more

It's the best donair around ! The quality and flavour and spices in their meat are second to none. I tried Halifax donair in Burlington a long time ago and was disgusted. Sammy's ... Bring back the SUPER ! Their sauces both sweet and tahini are addictive. Medium Hot is plenty and Hot is too much. I'm a regular for life. read more

Good food at decent price, but cash only brings it down. The owner is friendly, and the place is clean. The food is halal so that's always great to have. read more

Honestly this place is trash. Used to be a good place in the early 2000's but not sure what happened to it. They microwave the meat in front of you and then Drench it with sauce. They also accept cash only which is really inconvenient and you're forced to use the ATM machine they've strategically placed beside the cash. read more

The food is amazing! This place is a true gem. It has that family owned and operated atmosphere which brings you back. The food and service is great! read more

The place looks OK but food is good , I like their donair wrap and donair with rice the I tried shawarma once it was ok

Only true sin a place can make and they make it: a microwave. Would drop no stars if it were possible. A microwave!!! For falafel!!! A travesty and unforgivable, no restaurant should ever nuke anything. read more

this place was the worst customer service i have ever received. even after i said i would pay extra for a larger pita i was told i could not have one . the customer is not the most important thing for this owner and i was actually yelled at. i will never set foot in there again i suggest u save yourself the hassle and steer clear of this place. the food sucked as well. so this place struck out 3 in a row. read more

Best falafel around but messy. Great tahini. Service is nice but they only accept cash so bring some to avoid the fee at the ATM inside

Best donair restaurant! I having been going here for over 20 years. You could drink the sauce it's so good lol. Super nice people as well.

The BEST chicken shawarma I've ever had(Its in the sauce). I was looking for a gyro but ended up running into this place. Nice prices. When i came back a second time i got the shawarma and a regular donair read more

Worst take out food ever! Nothing is made fresh, they reheat the meat in a microwave, in a plastic bowl, before serving it to you. No flavour in the food at all. Worst customer service I have had in years. Brutal. Will never go back. It seemed like the staff were having the worst day of their lives. If you think is good Mediterranean food you have no idea what you are talking about. This is the worst Mediterranean food I have ever had. Not authentic and not home made. read more
