We found this place by accident and I'm thankful that we got lost a bit because we ended up here. What a great place! The food was delicious and hot! The service was attentive and fast. Overall, our group loved it! While we're in Lihue, we will come back here one more time.

They also had a live band playing, which created a fun atmosphere and it looked like a lot of people were really enjoying themselves. If you're just looking for a quiet place to sit and eat, though, it can get a bit loud, nothing against the live music, just something to keep in mind depending on what kind of dining experience you're looking for. The ahi nachos were a bit disappointing for us. The ahi itself was fresh and tasted great, but the "nachos" were actually more like fried wontons instead of traditional nacho chips, which felt a little odd and just wasn't really our thing. It would've helped if that was disclosed on the menu or if the server gave a quick heads up beforehand so expectations were clearer. On the positive side, the Tempura Ahi Bites were our favorite dish out of everything we ordered, definitely the standout item for us. The rib plate was also decent with satisfying portions overall.

The service was OK, with the food being OK. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of the mall, and was fairly hopping when we stopped in. We got lucky and got assigned a window table. The food as a whole was OK, with tourist prices. The Kalua Pork Sandwich ($20) was served on buttered texas toast and came with deeply battered french fries. The strawberry milk shake ($9) was not good: tasted ice in it which didn't make sense since it was marketed as a MILK shake. The edamame appetizer ($11) was a good beginning and we used that as our base. I got a bowl of the seafood chowder ($16) and it was a generous amount, very thick with plenty of clam and fish pieces, and it tasted good. Service was OK and we paid at the table using our credit card (no credit card surcharge here).

The service was outstanding from the hostess, bar tenders, chefs and our wonderful server, Kapua!! She was so friendly and always checked on us without being intrusive. We have been on the island for 6 nights. Each evening we have tried Mai Tai's. Lava Lava's are by far the best!!! They are not too sweet and a good pour! We got there early as the other reviews said it gets crowded and they do not take reservations. We arrived at 5 pm on a Wednesday and were seated right away closest to the beach. For our starter we had edamame which was a large portion and so good. My husband ordered the Chicken Pineapple Rice Bowl and substituted the chicken for the coconut shrimp. The rice was AMAZING as well as the shrimp, but our only complaint was the portion was very small and was served with only 3 shrimp. The picture looks like you get a lot, but it came in a carved out SMALL pineapple. The presentation was beautiful though. I had the Ceasar salad and added chicken. It was so good!!! The lettuce was so crisp! Nothing worse than a Ceasar salad with wilty romaine lettuce. I've had plenty of those in my day. This was one of the best I've ever had! Everything arrived in a timely manner. We had a great night. Side note...they offer free valet parking which is at the very top of the parking lot. I have nothing but high praises for Lava Lava's beach club!! You must check it out for yourself. You will be so happy you did!

The first time we spent just over $100 for a family of 5, and last night we got out of there for $88. That is a feat in this part of town! The happy hour is unbeatable. $7 drinks and 25 cent wings. Note that you have to have minimum two drinks per person, but they don't have to be alcoholic--we got a cocktail as our first and soda water as the second. The cocktails are quite large, so you can still get the $7 price if you order a soda or sparkling water as your second drink. The waitress was super helpful and let us know that last night! We went for taco Tuesday yesterday and the tacos were $1 each! They were good--not insane but great for the price and hit the spot. The service is great and the food and drinks come out quickly despite being busy. The drinks are standard fare, nothing crazy delicious, but for the price it's great. The food is all yummy. We especially love their chicken wings! Home-fried and lots of meat. All of the dipping sauces are excellent too. We haven't had a bad dish here! Truly wonderful prices, good food, and great for the whole family.

We didn't have time to eat lunch at Honolulu Airport, so Jamie W and I decided to come in here to dine. It was one of only two places to eat here, so it was a roll of the dice. We decided to plant ourselves at the bar since it looked like the bartender was pulling double duty as a food server. She was quite welcoming. Obviously used to tourists suddenly dropping in to eat and drink, she encountered two customers who were fortunately we were in the mood for both. I perused the cocktail menu and ordered the $24.49 Mango Mountain Colada. It was a pricey but enticing mix of two different coconut rums, mango puree, coconut water, and pineapple & lime juices topped with toasted coconut flakes (Photo 7). Jamie settled for a Diet Coke before we ordered our lunch plates. He went for the $23.99 Chicken Caesar Salad. The romaine, croutons, and Caesar dressing were fully expected. The surprise elements were the chopped tomato, smoked bacon, and generous portion of fire-braised chicken.breast (Photo 8). It was filling but not more than the $18.99 Fried Noodles I ordered. It consisted of a hefty pile of Hawaiian-style fried noodles mixed with spam, fishcake, shredded cabbage, scallion, and sesame soy sauce, and bits of the same fire-braised chicken (Photo 9). The setting is absolutely gorgeous - ocean views, tropical breezes, and an atmosphere that somehow manages to feel both elegant and welcoming at the same time. The service was excellent throughout the meal, attentive without hovering and genuinely friendly. Unfortunately, the food was a tale of two kitchens. My entrée - a kampachi and ahi tuna combination served with mashed potatoes, bok choy, and green beans - was outstanding. Perfectly cooked fish, beautifully plated, and packed with flavor. The honeycomb goat cheese salad was equally impressive and easily one of the highlights of the meal. Then came the rest of the table. My wife's vegetable curry was, frankly, difficult to finish. The flavors felt muddled and flat, especially compared to the care shown in the seafood dishes. The kids' mac and cheese fared even worse. It looked and tasted suspiciously like boxed macaroni with processed cheese sauce - the kind of thing you'd expect from a rushed concession stand, not a restaurant carrying Michelin recognition. That inconsistency is what keeps this from being a four- or five-star experience. When some dishes are exceptional and others feel like afterthoughts, it leaves you wondering which restaurant is going to show up at your table. I'd happily return for the fish, the salad, the service, and the view. I just wouldn't order the curry - and I'd definitely feed the kids beforehand.
