Today I was on a mission to find the best pita bread, hummus, olive oil, olives and zaatar to try and re-create the wonderful flavors the wife and I had at Chef Yousef's restaurant The Olive Tree. Success!! My 1st stop was Sami's Bakery. I've noticed it several times when traveling past Busch Gardens. I stopped in and it is a small shop specializing in healthy bread options, many of which are made from millet. I was happy to cross 2 items off my list. Best pita bread and best hummus. I ended up with a Roasted Red Pepper Hummus that was delicious and creamy. A regular Hummus that was off the charts good! Every time I taste it my eyes roll back in my head, best ever! The pita bread was also top shelf, very soft and pliable. I also got a couple guava pastries, one with cheese, that were better than the ones I get at the latino bakeries. Flaky, tasty, fluffy and the perfect amount of sweetness. There was a Spinach and Cheese Pie that I did not like, but that doesn't mean it was not good, I am unaccustomed to it and could not say. Lastly, I tried the Pistachio Baklava and the Walnut Baklava. Both were very sticky and very sweet. Having just had the same thing days earlier at Bekdash, I did not like this one as much. It was very good though, just too sweet for my "old man" tastes. The hummus, the pita and the guava pastries ensure my return to the bakery. I also plan on adding millet bread to my diet for health reasons. The lady there was nice and helpful and there is a nice variety of healthy options like chips and cookies I must try. Plenty of parking in front and on the side, right near Busch Gardens. Highly recommend it. Come get ya' some!

Sami's main draw are the baked goods which are all prepared in-house. They ship all over the country and it is a huge operation. You may find their items at your local grocery store. They have a small store front where you may purchase their goods. They offer vegan and gluten free products as well. They have a strong following and are known for their quality. I come here for the tabouli, red pepper hummus and pita bread. The tabouli has a tremendous flavor and is made without bulgar. The hummus is nice and is not overpowered by garlic, which I find many are. You can make a nice light sandwich with these items. Sometimes I add feta cheese to this and lettuce. Simple and delish.

Yesterday, my girlfriend and I did a bakery tour of Tampa. We hit a few well known spots and some lesser known spots, seven total. This is a warning that 7 short reviews are coming in about the local bakeries we visited. The first spot we hit was Sami's Bakery. I would describe this as a middle eastern bakery that offers traditional and vegan breads and pastries. We arrived a little late, so most of the pastries were gone. We picked up a chocolate covered baklava, tzatziki sauce, grape leaves, and a warm cheese bread fresh out of the oven. Everything we had was very tasty and they were very friendly. There was one table outside that we stood at and enjoyed our food. You can find a lot of there items in local stores.

I've drove pass this bakery numerous times with the intent of stopping in one day to check it out. My friend told me about this bakery that cater to those who may have a gluten allergy, looking for low carb breads or watching calories. This is the bakery for all those things! Super happy to find so many choices for my gluten allergy life! I paid a total of $18 with a purchase of 5 different items. They also have Tabouli that do not have Bulgar in the recipe which is a huge plus for me! It was delicious There is refrigerated section for gluten free muffins, brownies and cheesecake. What!? Also have a glass booth full of fresh baked items that was reasonably priced. The checkout lady(didn't get her name) for sweet and patient. My go to bakery to fulfilled my once in while cravings!

So my family is really trying to watch our carb intake and one of the main ways to do it is to watch how much bread you're consuming. All the bread at the local markets and bakeries are full of sugars, like 20 carbs in one slice, that's a lot! Enter Sami's Baker!! All of their products are fresh and homemade and as this is my second time trying them out, I knew exactly what I wanted and to expand my tastes by trying some of their other items. Definitely try their cinnamon raisin bread! I was skeptical because I like raisins but not a lot of them in my bread, quoting the owner, "you're fortunate to get more than three raisins in the whole loaf"... SOLD!!! And his statement is true. Great tasting bread without an unreal amount of raisins. Which means you don't have to worry about being shortchanged when eating your Raisin Bran, lol! This bread is wholesome, fresh and good for you! At 3g of sugar in a single slice of cinnamon raising bread (subtracting the 8g of dietary fiber) And 2 grams in the regular bread, this is so much what my family as been looking for. From now on, ALL our bread and baked goods are coming from Sami's!!

Shut your mouth!!! What do you mean this is healthy? How can something so healthy taste so bad for me? I thought I was in love when I tried the chia chips. I call them chia crack and since my discovery of them last week, cannot think of living a day without them. Then today I tried the millet and flax cinnamon chips and oh! the oohey gooeyness. They taste like an Auntie Anne's cinnamon sugar pretzel but without all the butter and carbs! I planned on having two (large) chips, but half the bag is gone now and it took all the control in my body to stop. I picked up a loaf of the ancient grains bread and can't wait to toast a slice up in the morning for breakfast! Thank goodness they provide nutritional info or I would not believe that they are good for you. I've now had several of their products and can say that I am a huge fan and will continue to sing their praises to anyone who will listen! read more

I have been eating low carb and nut free due to my health for years now. Bread is my favorite carb so I am always trying different recipes and products that fit my dietary needs. There was a local bakery in San Diego where I lived that had a decent bread, but when I moved to St Pete they wouldn't ship! I'm comes my introduction to Sami's Bakery. Mind blown!! Sami's is hands down the best low carb bread that you can buy! Nothing in California, the land of diets, even comes close! Even my non-low carb husband agrees that this is the best and only bread that we keep in the house now!! From toast to sandwiches this bread not only tastes great but holds up to lunch boxes and isn't soggy or crumbly after 5 minutes! Pro tip: this bread freezes really well too! read more

I AM FROM CHICAGO AND BOUGHT SAMIS SPINACH PITA FROM A HEALTH FOOD STORE. I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND THAT I CAN ORDER FROM THEIR WEB SITE WELL THAT WAS THE BEST FIND FOR ME....LOVE LOVE LOVE SAMI's Bakery. I usually order the Breads , Chips, Spinach Pita ....and no sugar added cookies . Never disappointed,..I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE IN ORLANDO THIS PAST WEEK SO I RENTED A CAR AND OFF TO TAMPA I WENT. I FOUND THE BAKERY, OF OURSE I BOUGHT A LOT OF BAKED GOODS. THE ONLY REASON I PUT ONLY 4 stars instead of 5 is the girl behind the counter was not very nice, it was like she did not want to be there. She was rude. I asked her questions and all she would say is over there or she didn't know, I was really disappointed with this, I went to great lengths to get to the bakery. I will continue to order but thought the owners should know. I have become hooked on their Millet & Flax seed chips! I stopped by today to get one of every flavor, but ended up getting the plain and garlic. They were out of the cinnamon chips. Their bread is DELICIOUS! You can tell it is made from scratch. I bought 2 loaves. I stored one in the freezer and the other in the pantry. They definitely have gained a new customer. Hopefully I will go back to try some of their pastries and desserts. read more

Scam scam scam ... read the labels! They're flat out lying. I fell for it and I'm going to express my anger at the local shop who caries these fraud products. Slim lavash label has wheat and soy flour ... and label says 11g carbs and 10g fiber ... NOT POSSIBLE. Quick google shows they've been under investigation for years, This is a scam outfit that started out west and they're just riding the low-carb/keto wave. I'm not sure how they're still in business. The only place to come get fresh daily made pita bread and middle eastern appetizers. I am always willing to make the drive for their millet and flax cinnamon chips. They also serve fresh cold appetizers as well as gluten free baked goods. I don't need to eat gluten free but this stuff is so good! read more

I went into this location today at 1230, first thing I noticed was how friendly the lady behind the counter was to a customer. I picked up my items and went to check out. The lady didn't say one word to me, hello, thank you, nothing. I picked up my items and decided to purchase a few cookies and also wanted to see if maybe what I felt was going on actually wasn't. A gentleman checked out in front of me and again the lady was pleasant and said thank you. When it was my time to pay for the two cookies, again not a word to me. As I was leaving I said ' you're welcome' and walked out. Customer service goes a long way with me and the lack of it shows disrespect when I am spending my money. I made a choice to purchase my items from this location, I will not make that choice again. read more

I am gluten free and my husband is following the Keto diet and Sami's Bakery is the best. We have been very pleased with everything we have gotten there. We go every two weeks buy what we need then freeze them. And the cookies are so yummy! You can't go wrong with Sami's. read more

I have ordered from Sami's bakery for lo carb breads The breads are top quality and taste delicious especially when toasted. I order the multi grain fiber bread. On my order last week they sent me the wrong bread. I called and immediately took care of it and I received my correct order today. I bought this bread form a Health Store in Ft. Lauderdale and I enjoyed this bread. I got the gluten free bread even though I can eat gluten. It was just as good as regular bread with gluten. It is as soft as regular bread and has good texture and does not taste like cardboard like other gluten free breads. It is Not hard like a rock either like other gluten free breads. It tastes good. read more

It took forever for their product to arrive...sometimes two weeks. When I called to speak with them about cancelling an order that hadn't arrived when it was supposed to, the lady tried to interrupt me, wouldn't let me finish what I was saying, and then hung up on me while I was still talking! I have never received such poor, rude customer service in my life (and I am an old lady)! I would not recommend dealing with this company!!! read more

Wonderful bakery with options for low carb and low gluten. I used to buy their bread that was distributed to a grocery store, but then I found the source. I buy all my bread products here: Pitas, loaves and pizza crusts. I also get hummus and dolmas for lunch. I haven't tried all their baked goods, but I sometimes get the cranberry almond cookies and they don't disappoint. The baklava is killer too! The cashier is always friendly and it's always a quick in and out. read more

I'm a huge fan of Sami's Bakery! They have *in my opinion* the best Pita's in Tampa. They're always fresh, consistent, and delicious. They offer a lot of various Gluten-Free desserts as well...and put them on sale when they're getting close to their expiration date! They don't use preservatives, so their goods don't last super long, but that's how food SHOULD be...so if you agree with me on that, try Sami's out!! Plus, with how tasty their food is, your baked goods probably won't last more than a few days outside of your tummy anyway. :P Just to It's a very small bakery in size (the front area, anyway), so don't expect some elaborate place when you walk in. After all, it's all about the goods anyway! My only wish is that they would stay open later...they're only open until 6pm during the week- making it hard for me to get there after work to pick up goodies. That said, Saturday is my Sami's shopping day (they're also closed Sunday) so I am thankful for what I can get! You will find Sami's products at various stores around Tampa (Nutrition S'mart is a big buyer for example)- but buying it directly from Sami's Bakery is the cheapest. I've actually found their products frozen up all the way in North Carolina grocery stores- so they are a BUSY bakery on the back end! My personal favorite product is their Millet and Flax chips...GAH they are such an easy way to kick chips out of your diet while still enjoying a nice healthy snack that gives that 'crunch'. A lot of their foods are high soluble fiber and low-carb...a foodies dream! read more

visiting from Los Angeles, and was looking for low carb eats while at hotel. i picked up spinach and cheese pocket, spinach pocket, brownie, chocolate chip cookies, whole grain bread, cinnamon bread, and laffa bread. all low carb varieties. all 5 out of 5 stars. lady behind counter was helpful also. i tried low carb bakeries in LA, and even shipped into LA. Sami's had the best tasting. read more

Not impressed! I had ordered a birthday cake with very specific instructions for the decoration. The cake didn't even come close to what I had asked for and the baker decided to add her own design which was just horrible. The writing was terribly written. Got past the exterior and tried it. The WORST cake I have ever eaten. I would not recommend ordering a cake from here. The worst part is that I was picking this up the day before the birthday and was essentially stuck with it. I would have been better off with a birthday cake from a local grocery store! read more

Great food! Lots of low carb, vegan and gluten free breads and treats. The low carb bread is really tasty and you can't even tell it's low carb. I highly recommend the cinnamon bread. Of course they also have non-diet pastries, cookies, etc. Yum read more

I live in NY and have been buying Sami's millet/flax bagels from my local natural food store for a few years. I don't know what they changed, but the bagels no longer function as bagels. There is no way to cut them anymore without them breaking into at least 4 pieces. So frustrating. Will no longer be buying them. Too bad, because I really liked them. read more

This is my favorite spot for a healthy treat they have the best cookies in town. I recommend the chocolate chip walnut cookies. if you want a healthy snack this is the place to go. They have great service and they really value their costumers to. read more

I love the low carb bagels. I just ordered $60.00 worth of them! Postage is outrageous! But now I read that it's a scam. The low carb bread products are very much high carb. What is this! I feel sick about it. I read it from the Diet Dr. and someone else. What gives? read more

If i could go lower than a star i would . I never leave reviews but i downloaded yelp just to leave one after my experience here . Even after previously reading some bad reviews on Samis Bakery i gave them the benefit of the doubt & ordered a gluten free birthday cake for my mother who has celiac disease. The next day, after driving 40 minutes to get there, the Baker says my cake isn't ready, to come back in 30 minutes. Meanwhile they close in 2 hours. So i go eat & come back more than an hour later to find my cake will be done in 10 more minutes. (Good thing i didn't return in 30) I stand & wait . Finally he comes out with a cake on a card board plate & says sorry we have no box. Not only was he expecting me to carry this cake home on my lap with no box, the cake he made me was completely different from my order. I even texted the guy in detail EXACTLY what i needed. His response when confronted was ill understand if you don't want the cake. I ordered a gluten free strawberry cake & he gave me a sample something completely different. He said its almond mixed with gluten free . He understood nothing about gluten whatsoever. After that remark i left. Gluten can be a very serious thing & if cross contaminated in someones food who is diagnosed, make them extremely sick. I wasted so much time coming here & can gladly say i will never return . I do not recommend anyone to make cake orders ESPECIALLY if you have a food allergy, do NOT rely on them to be gluten free. Take this review with seriousness and continue to the next gluten free bakery on the list . I do have a recommendation who saved my moms birthday extremely last minute . Petite Madelyns Bakery on Bloomingdale Ave. She went above & beyond for me after hearing the circumstances i went through . Even coming in the next day on her day off to give me my cake . She can cater to anyone food allergy ! read more

I tried Samis before, but strayed to another bakery based upon a recommendation and it was the worst experience ever and a waste of $70. Never again will I leave Sami's! The best low carb bread and bagels! They freeze well, taste and feel like traditional baked goods......and I had my order two days after receiving my confirmation! Awesome! read more

I have been a customer of many long years. I often send my men for mass orderings!! We buy it all from breads to sweets especially for hosting parties and for our darling restaurant friends. Never had a problem until last week...!! Very shocked to say the least. My husband and I were seeking assistance and saw an employee outside. His name was Irvin. I simply asked Irvin..a man who clearly did not know english... a question very nicely as one would normally do. He turned around and yelled in a terrifying tone "I don't know. Busy. I am busy. Go Away..away.." while gesturing for me to get away. Not getting in his line of work. He wasn't doing anything at all!! He looked very angry that I even talked to him. VERY RUDE! I was shocked. I have never encountered anything like that. To say the least, I will NOT be returning at all after being a faithful customers of many years. Someone of that manner should not be working. I am upset Sami's would have someone so hostile and angry and rude and with no basic english skills working there. WOW! Ill mannered and frightening.
