The service and ambiance was all extremely meh/mid. And the food was so overcooked and over seasoned as to be practically inedible. The fish was extremely dry and chewy, while at the same time extremely greasy. I ordered fried mushrooms that had breading so greasy it slid off the mushroom and congealed into a paste. The slaw was edible - but just barely. And the price was insanely high for the absolutely poor quality of the food. Never going to visit again. read more

I tried Sam's a few weeks ago and was very impressed with polite staff and menu recommendations offered. Catfish and coleslaw was great. Even though it's a restaurant stuck in basically a strip mall it was very clean and bright. Staff were attentive and even did rounds around the restaurant to check on guests and clean promptly. As Salina is limited in fish/seafood restaurants Sam's definitely checks the box as a place to cure your fish cravings. Strong Work Sam's! read more

Ordered the half pound "crawfish boil" which was advertised as crawfish with corn and potatoes. First, any real Cajun should be suspect at any weight under 3 lbs, but it is Kansas.. So I thought I'd try. Over half the dish was shrimp--which I don't eat. Second, the most damning? I could have changed my contacts after eating. Garlic does not mean Cajun seasoning. There was no heat. Truly disappointed and frustrated. Will not recommend to anyone I like. read more

This place is amazing, honestly. I've been here twice and the fish fillet and shrimp is very unique. Not fishy tasting and impeccably seasoned. Staff is very friendly and prices are comparable to a sit down restaurant. Staff is friendly and attentive. Best fish in Kansas and it's even better than TX seafood read more

5 stars feels like an understatement for this place. The first thing I noticed was how friendly and respectful the staff are. Right away, it was a good experience. The menu has a good selection of burgers, sandwiches, salads, and especially seafood baskets. I had the 2 filet, 6 shrimp (REALLY big shrimp) with fries and red beans & rice. I couldn't pick a favorite out of everything I ordered, it was all just prefect. There is plenty of food, even for a big guy like me. I most definitely will be back. If you're debating trying out Sam's Southern Eatery, just do it. You will love it. read more
