So happy to have found a Korean restaurant near Sarasota!!!! Coming from Atlanta, I had been used to frequenting my local tofu soup house and was craving Korean food ever since moving to Sarasota. I ordered the soon tofu soup and the Gal bi. I was thrilled when our waitress brought over the traditional Korean appetizers, yum!!! Pickled everything and their kimchi hit the spot. The soon tofu soup was hot and delicious! Tofu super soft and the egg was yummy, veggies gave it a little crunch and the spice was perfect b The gal bi (beef short ribs) were SO good, they give you a pretty large portion. My fiancé and I split both of these and were stuffed at the end of the meal. So happy to have found my go to Korean spot! read more

We love this restaurant and the staff! They are warm and welcoming and our favorites are: K Roll, Eka Roll, Mexican Roll, Spider Roll, the list goes on and on ...I'm sure I am forgetting something. This is our neighborhood go-to spot for dinner. The owners and staff are so nice and always remember us. Even when we call for takeout, they recognize our order and make sure we get our takeout in paper boxes instead of plastic or styrofoam. We've never had something we disliked here, but our stand-by order includes: CS roll, kampyo roll, bi bim bap, ra myun, spicy lo mein, and hot and sour soup. They will make anything vegetarian and/or spicy if you ask. Love, love, love this place and the people who run it. read more

Amazing sushi! They have the greatest roll ever- the Tropical. It's shrimp avocado, cream cheese, cucumber topped with kiwi, mango, and strawberry. Great miso soup, salad, and maguro. I recently discovered this place and we've been frequent diners ever since. read more

I didn't expect to get bomb sushi because of the unassuming exterior next to Publix, but I did. I came in and sat at the bar on a weekday before shopping. I ordered the cucumber special roll, and it was delicious; the structure held well, the flavors were balanced, and everything was super fresh. I liked it so much that I asked a member of waitstaff for a similar recommendation, and she recommended the low carb roll; it was also light and super fresh. I came back here again with my husband and we got some of the rice-based rolls, like the caterpillar and a few others. Again, super fresh and really good. Yes, it's in a strip mall like everything else in this area, but it has great sushi, the servers are friendly and quick, the prices are very reasonable, and I could eat their spicy tuna all day long. Okay Okay, so let me preface my review by saying this is not ktown in LA or the ECR in Sunnyvale. However, I felt like the food drifted from its Korean roots. I could be wrong, but I wasn't prepared for the Spicy Pork to come with more vegetables than pork. The dish had a ton of broccoli, onions, and carrots. They were so light on the pork, I thought they were trying to sneak it in the dish. Also, it tasted a lot like a teriyaki sauce instead of the red Korean spicy sauce that normally comes with it. Then came the spicy scallop hand roll. I've never seen this before, but they shredded the scallops and put in shredded potatoes. I thought that was odd. The bright spot was the service. Sam Oh-my god. This is, in my opinion, the best sushi in the area. Fresh, tasty, and made to order. The service was friendly and inviting, and the atmosphere is nice. I tried the eel and avocado roll and asked for the spicy mayo- it was delicious! It's really important to offer a good selection of different maki rolls, and Sam Oh Jung does just that! I've eaten here about 6 times in the past 3 years and have only ordered their korean food. This place is pretty decent considering it's the only restaurant that serves korean food in manatee and sarasota county. I did deduct stars because they use frozen dumplings for their mandu guk. I know because I purchase the same brand of dumplings. Their bugolgi is delicious though and the lunch portion is pretty good. I definitely need to try their sushi the next time I go. read more

We have eaten here at least a dozen time since we moved to the area in February. We love it! The bibimbap is amazing as is every single dish we have ordered. The sushi is also really good. They are willing to make a special roll if that is what you'd like. Service is also really good. Needs a little updating but most Asian places take forever to do so. read more

If you are craving for Korean food, this one is only get by. I was kinda disappointed!! I ordered Korean ramen and bulgogi. It was pretty bad, ramen tasted like package ramen, bulgogi was too sweet, kimchi was way too old. Well it's just my opinion. Service was super great though. read more

Best sushi I have ever come across not just in sarasota but every state I have ever been and I'm definitely a traveler. The sushi chefs know how to perfectly season their rice and all the sauces are homemade. Beyond sushi they also have a regular menu that has great items too. People don't realize what a jem it is because of its location and sign but anyone who doesn't go is missing out. When I moved to Miami I used to come back just to go there. It's the best. read more

I love this place. It is layer back and stress free. The food is very good here and the prices aren't ridiculous. I get the grouper tempura roll here and I pay half the price I would at other places. Just tried Sushi-Sam Oh Jung for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised at how fresh the sushi was and how generous the portions were. I usually go over to downtown Sarasota to get sushi but from the items I ordered tonight Sushi-Sam Oh Jung is much better. I had some of the sashimi pieces which were really fresh and at just the right temperature. The Uni is the freshest I've had in Florida so far. The wasabi was pretty potent, which is important to me and the cucumber was fresh and crisp. The sushi rice was also decent. Overall I'm giving it 5 stars not because it's the best sushi in the world but it was surprisingly good for Bradenton. Not to say anything bad about Bradenton :) I'll definitely be going back when I'm in town. read more

The sushi is excellent a little pricey but awsome the service is very good as well.My favorite dish is Galbi ad its ok could be better and have a larger amount on your plate not so much veggies.Ive grown up on japanese and korean food the amount and taste is what counts.There could be more extras.The bulgogi is also ok actually not very good at all. But over all the sushi is the best. The resturant is very nice and clean.Kind of weird Japanese chinese and korean maybe if they pick one style of cooking it would be better.In history all three of those cultures dont like each other. read more

We enjoyed both Kimch Jiggae & Soon dubu Jiggae at lunch, this is as authentic as it can get. Normally I'm not a fan of restaurants that try to service Chinese, Korean & Japanese food & I can only comment on the Korean food, but that is very good, sadly lacking a little in the Banchan selection which is an integral part to Korean food, nice interior & very quick professional service (which is the norm in Korean establishments) 4 star because we are happy to find a decent authentic Korean food in MannaSota!! read more

Really excellent food! I tried as much as I could, and literally everything was perfect. The Bibimbap was cooked perfectly and looked EXACTLY like the one in the photo. The short ribs were perfectly cooked and the meat wasn't chewy. The dumplings were fried to perfection, and the sushi was on par with any Japanese restaurant I've been to in the area. Not the fanciest of dining rooms this place is more for a casual lunch than a dinner date. The service, however was wonderful. The food was good, but not great. The tuna tataki was grey and drowning in creamy sauce, and both of my rolls were covered in un-advertised roe, which I strongly dislike. Still we had a great time.
