I said that I wanted to have his head trimmed into a Scottie head from all his hair. Whomever I spoke to told me that that would not take very long and decided to schedule it as a "nail appointment" It does not take someone who is proficient very long to do a Scottie head trim as one is just trimming cheeks, ears and a little on the throat and cutting eyebrows. I should have realized I was not dealing with someone who was familiar with Scotties when she asked how big he was. When we went in for his appointment, much to my horror, I discovered that it is also a pseudo dog care and there were loose dogs in the grooming area. I let her know that my dog is not to interact with other dogs and, while she did pick him up, three other dogs were able to interact with him. NOT a desired event for a service dog! I should have left when, as she was looking at him, she told me that he looked just fine for a Scottie head trim. NO, he currently looks like a Westie, not a Scottie with very hairy cheeks! She took a look at the grooming book then decided I needed to make an appointment. I DID make an appointment and was VERY specific about what I had and what I wanted. I did not say anything this morning that I had not said when we spoke! I appreciate your call to apologize.

We had been trying to adopt a dog in Seattle for months with no luck, so we decided to make the trip to Hoquiam. I am so glad we did. Nanette is incredibly kind, genuine, and knowledgeable. The patience she showed us went far beyond what we expected. She spent the entire time with us answering questions, sharing training advice, and helping us get to know the dogs. We originally came to meet one dog, but ended up meeting five, and I am really glad we did. What we expected to be a quick 10-15 minute meet and greet turned into more than an hour. We were able to play with several dogs, talk with multiple staff members and volunteers, and really learn about the personalities of the dogs we were meeting! One thing that really stood out was how much everyone at North Beach Paws clearly cares about the animals. While the facility is not a large brand new building with fancy equipment, it was clean, well maintained and the animals are very loved! Also, for my fellow thrifters, they have a huge Saturday garage sale / thrift market that helps support the rescue. There were great prices and a lot of really cool finds. If you're in the Pacific Northwest and looking to adopt a dog or cat, I highly recommend checking out North Beach Paws!

When I did some research regarding the best pet food to feed my dogs, I decided on Orijen (a premium, grain free food) and was surprised to see that they carried it! I was figuring I'd have to go to Olympia, or farther, to find it, but nope....this cute little store right in my hometown carries it! Not only that, but they loaded me up with free samples to try. (They do have samples of several other types of food, so if you are trying out something new this is a great place to go.) I also get my cat's food here (Halo) and my dad has purchased baby chicks here as well. They carry tons of different things, for all types of pets. To top it off, their service is impeccable (they ALWAYS greet you when you come in, and carry your heavy bags of food out to your car for you) and they have a loyalty discount program that you can sign up for. LOVE this place and I've recommended it to everyone I know.

This is a depressed area with a lot of need but don't let that keep you away from adopting and volunteering yourself. The veterinary care when we adopted our two separate adult kitties in the past 3 years was very good. Animals were well-socialized and exercised--yes, even the cats. Our sweet Harry had been there for nearly a year (or more), formerly named Sonic. He was about 3 years old. This shelter doesn't put down their oldest and most unadoptable cats. There were some extremely aged cats (and probably dogs too), particularly a sweet lil Manx who was able to roam freely. It felt good to take Harry home and open up his world--but he would have had no world to enjoy at all at some shelters. A previous adoption at PAWS of GH was of a teen mommy who had been caring for her babies under a trailer. Just a slip of a thing but healthy, she was super ready to finally have her own childhood in our home. They have both been a joy and comfort--and got along like best friends immediately. Though the animals were not chipped by the shelter, regular veterinary exams were done, immunizations and flea treatments were done properly and there was an exit visit, flea treatment and claw clipping with the vet tech before we signed the papers and left with our new family members. There was also a built-in trial period. The facility is old but clean. Anything anybody could do to help, I'm sure, would be of high value. Senior Shih Tzu after leaving groomer. On ride home car looks like I murdered a small animal. She…read moreseemed fine when I picked her up but 30 min ride home was not. I did not realize her whining was pain until she jumped up front and I saw blood and she she started getting sick. Groomer said they would never have sent her home like that. Well they temporarily stopped the bleeding but it didn't last. When I got home had to call vet to find out how to stop bleeding. Blondie's said bring her back. NO, I will take her to vet if it doesn't stop. She has laid on my lap and cried now all that afternoon and next day. Today I got a better look and two of her nails are an 8th of an inch long. Look at a measuring tape and tell me that is okay! It's not. She will not be returning. Report card said she was great and did everything asked of her. In 11 1/2 years I have never had this happen.

No appointment is necessary. When I came in to the business 10 minutes later, I was told that their nail person was sick and that I should come back tomorrow and they can get my dogs nails done. I showed up the next morning with my dogs, and again they gave the excuse that their one nail person was ill and they were understaffed. Complete horrible customer service.
