Would really appreciate if they added a few vegan/plant based items to the menu such as caring a vegan cheese to replace on pizzas or a vegan protein to add! My dad has been talking up Saltwater for a few years now so I finally went with him last week. It has your typical shore vibe with young seasonal workers. My dad and his partner started with wine, I opted just for water since they said they didn't have an Aperol spritz. They did, however, have a specialty drink menu. They brought over bread with an oil/balsamic dipping blend for dipping. My dad ordered the garden salads for everyone and they were HUGE. Salads here are definitely meant as a meal and not a side. I couldn't finish mine and while I never do this I took half home and it was still crunchy and fresh the next day. Despite my dads directions to order the gnocchi, I went with the 9th street chicken cutlet because it also had a side of gnocchi. The cutlet was crispy and had mozzarella, roasted red pepper, and a balsamic drizzle. You my only critique is it could use more seasoning in the breading. The gnocchi was the star. While appearing dense, they were the lightest, melt in your mouth, cheesiest gnocchi I ever had. If I had known the side was only 3 gnocchi ( they were pretty big) I would have just listened to my dad and ordered the gnocchi. The star of the whole evening for me though was the Zeppoli. We opted for 2 orders and nearly ate the entire thing. Warm pillows of powdered sugar dough are the dessert equivalent to their gnocchi. Our main server was hustling and while plates could have been cleared before our entrees arrived, she did a nice job considering seasonal servers don't typically have the same style as veterans. My ONLY suggestion is that they really take a look at their tables. The indoor tables have so much food and crumbs in between the slats and due to the design of the tables it's tough to clean. They would probably need to completely turn them upside down and hose them off to get it out and then use a plastic tablecloth to avoid it in the future. But it's definitely something to consider. read more

I recommend asking for an outside table as the inside tables are really close to each other. Those who ordered the chicken parm loved it! There are different types of sauce to choose from based on your preference. The entree came with 3 housemate gnocchis. We had to wait longer for these as they didn't come out with our meals. They were super mushy but still delicious in the blush sauce. We also shared the sausage and peppers dish that had a mix of spicy and mild- highly recommend! For drinks, we had the saltwater martini- their version of a watermelon martini. Super sweet but good! Our table also liked the bourbon lemonade. We had a great experience. When we first viewed the menu it was relatively small. We wanted to try the pizza but you can only get a whole pie so we settled for gnocchi ragu and the Milan salad. The salad was delicious. Such a great flavor and the homemade dressing was fantastic I am not usually a big gnocchi fan but these were unlike any I have had ever had. They were soft pasta pillows filled with cheese. The accompanying meatballs and sausage were great and the sauce was phenomenal. We had the Zeppoli's for dessert and got eight huge fluffy pieces of dough right out of the oven. Such a great way to end the meal. AND they had a Hugo Spritz on the drink menu and I love that drink. Perfect dining experience in the picturesque seaside town of Margate. Now- don't let the name fool you, it's not seafood (a little weird lol) but excellent Italian fare in a comfortable laid back setting. The restaurant itself is spacious with tables spread a pleasant distance apart. If alfresco is more your style, there is also a good amount of outdoor seating available. If the breeze is right, you'll probably get a nice waft of the nearby ocean air. The food and service is just stellar! The servers were attentive and made sure to check in frequently enough and deliver all needs despite how busy the establishment was. I started the meal with the house salad and decided to try the gnocchi in blush. The salad was absolutely excellent! Very fresh bed of greens lightly dressed with roasted reds and sharp provolone. Amazing salad but even BETTER was the gnocchi. Perfect pillows of homemade pasta in a rich creamy blush. The portion was perfect. Just enough to be satisfied without feeling stuffed. Our table shared a pizza as well which was also really good. It was a Sicilian pie with an excellent crust. Very large and perfect for sharing. I was too full for dessert but heard great things about the zeppoli. I will definitely go for it next time around. I did finish the evening with the rose sangria though. It was wowza. A great drink for all my rose all day girls. Haha. Excellent food at a great price. The only thing you should note is that margate it pretty much a street parking only town. Perfect restaurant! This is an amazing restaurant to go to with family, on a date, or even have a small event. We have been enjoying this restaurant for a couple of years. We love the Caesar and Milan salads, the Gnocchi, the square and NEW round pizzas. My personal favorite is the mushroom rosemary pizza!! Delicious! My kids love the Chicken Parmesan and NEW fries. The cannoli's and zeppoli are always a sweet treat to end the night. This place is amazing. The owners have hearts of gold and care for our family like they would their own. We have food allergies and Lori and David as well as Chef David have taken the utmost care of us and always keep us safe:) They are so knowledgeable about every ingredient in the restaurant. The staff are always attentive, friendly and helpful. When you go into this restaurant you feel like you are walking in to a fun family gathering:) I had my 50th birthday celebration here last summer- we had about 25 people and everyone enjoyed their meals and we had an awesome time. Do not waste your money or energy - 2 hours waiting for a single pizza - gave me every excuse in the book and manager won't speak to you/ disgusting service and ended up going else where - 2 hours for a pizza and no one cares to even address you or offer condolences- also spent one hour spending money at the bar to leave and get pizza elsewhere. I cannot express the amount of frustration that I felt during our experience at Saltwater. After making a reservation for 8:30 and arriving on time, we were met by a crowd of other unhappy patrons. We went to the front to sign in for our reservation but were told to wait. After waiting about 15 minutes, it was clear that we were not going to be seated anytime soon. After inquiring about the wait time, we were told that they simply did not have seats and "could not ask people to leave". We booked a reservation over a week ago and had to wait forty-five minutes past our booking time to get seated. Once seated, the inside of the restaurant was chaos. There were multiple tables that were not filled, even though there was still a large crowd of people behind us waiting to be seated... At our table, we were given utensils that had not been properly washed and still had food on them. The waiter then proceeded to serve us soggy bread that she spilled alcohol on. If everything I just mentioned is not enough to have you avoid this place, the menu selection did not make up for the experience. We ordered two pizzas (a classic margarita and vegetable pizza) and a large plate of blush gnocchi. The gnocchi honestly should not be called gnocchi because they were just large ricotta balls the size of a golf ball. The pizza admittedly was pretty good, but the waiter had taken our order wrong and we only received one of the pizzas we ordered. The portion of the pizzas is pretty large, so one is enough for a big group. The only good thing about the restaurant is the pizzas here, but I would only recommend getting takeout from this place. As a service industry worker for many years, it truly takes a LOT for me to feel compelled to write anything but a rave review for a local business or restaurant. After my third poor experience at this establishment, I have finally decided to give my fully warranted and utterly displeased feedback. In my first two dining experiences I had here, we were served by young waitresses who clearly had little serving experience, so I was lenient and more understanding of their lack of attentiveness. However this third visit, our waitress was middle aged and despite possible serving experience, one would at the very least expect bare minimum courtesy and cordiality. She came to our table, did not greet us or ask for a drink order and instead waited a few seconds for US to greet her and order our bottle of wine. Already starting off at an uncomfortable precedent. We then proceeded to order the brick oven pizza with clear intentions in having it as a shared appetizer starter for the table, and we even hesitated on ordering our entrees and sides because we knew we wanted to start off with the pizza first. The common sense rule of thumb to go by here would be to not fire the entrees until spacing out a bit of time between courses. And if the restaurant is busy or if it's a common occurrence for the pizza to come out at a much later time, the server is then expected to inform the table as it may influence the rest of their order. The waitress neglected to inform us that the pizza comes out at whatever time it may be throughout the dinner, so by the time that we already had HALF of our entrees sent out to us -- 2 guests in my party had to wait 7-8 minutes for their entrees to join us -- we asked about the pizza and she snapped back at us like we should have known the pizza might come out half way through our entree course. Not to mention, rule number one is to not run the entrees out until the entire order is ready to be sent out for each guest. So now we have no appetizer and two of us are letting our entrees sit as we wait for the other two to eventually receive their meals. The food runners and other waitresses helping our main waitress hesitated when we tried to give our empty dirty side plates in order to create space on the high top tables. My only positive note is that the spicy blush gnocchis are admittedly delectable. However by the time we got our appetizer pizza we were already too stuffed to get to fully enjoy this course simultaneously. Towards the end of our meal, the waitress neglected to offer dessert to us and dropped the check without so much as a word. With anticipation throughout the dinner, my girlfriends and I had full intentions of trying their cannolis and zeppoles but at this point we were fed up with her lack of attention and service. Now, this brings me to the primary focal point that drove me to write this review. We asked our waitress to split the check on two credit cards after applying a sum of cash. Again as a fellow server in the restaurant industry, splitting a check on multiple cards is no issue as long as the guests aren't asking for unreasonable differing totals. She reluctantly took our cards and hesitated at the computer system, but when she returned, our credit card slips appeared to be accurate totals. She only took my one friend's signed credit card slip to be closed out, but did not wait an extra second to take mine. I get home that evening and check my credit card transactions online, and there are THREE incorrect and extremely costly charges on my bank statement: the correct one that I signed for, and then two more that were double to triple the original transaction total. I called the restaurant multiple times and asked for a manager, I was then put on hold for 5 minutes, and then a young girl told me that they were in the middle of an "extremely busy dinner rush" at 3:45pm and that they'd have to call me back at a later time. Doors don't even open for dinner until 4:00pm so this was almost laughable to me at this point. Fast forward two days and I still have yet to receive a returned phone call. Absolute disaster and after three genuine attempts at this place, I will not be back. read more

This was deep fried pieces of eggplant. Also not what we expected. Eggplant should be pan fried, not deep fried in oil. Hard to eat Not much on the menu in way of appetizers except for high priced salads, so we sat with nothing to eat until our entrees arrived, late We had to ask for bread and it was brought out with oil to dip in However, they make a square pizza which looked really good, so I would consider another visit just to try the pizza read more

This place is a incredible. Call ahead is easy but plan for a bit of a wait for a pickup slot. But it's well worth it. I only eat fish so I can only speak to their smoked salmon. IT IS OFF THE CHARTS GRRRRREAT! The smoke their meats and fish in house. Boy you can really tell. I splurged on the beast! Delicious nova, cream cheese in an toasted everything bagel with cucumber. We were seated fairly quickly which was fine, the place was packed so were we patient when ordering our food and we never received our food after nearly an hour of waiting. Their excuse was that they only had one oven but multiple people who came after us has received their food no problem. This place left me full and very confused. They do not take reservations, but it seems to be popular and I heard it was known for their gnocchi. I was surprised that we did not have to have for a table, but the experience kind of showed me why. First off, the windows were so dirty that my mom almost came back to Windex them herself. The outside gave more of a fine dining vibe while inside it felt like an Irish pub crossed with a pizza parlor. The menu was more fine dining too (especially the prices). The staff made it even more confusing because the guys were dressed in muscle tank tees. It felt like I was in the meathead section of a gym. The confusion only continued when the wine came out in a small juice glass instead of wine glasses. For food, we split a breaded eggplant salad, gnocchi in blush, and half Italian/half old style pizza. The White Italian pizza was amazing and I highly recommend it. The breaded eggplant caprese salad was also good. These were my first ricotta gnocchi and I was pretty underwhelmed. It came out cold and the sauce was not even poured over them. The gnocchi themselves were very large and just tasted like a ball of ricotta cheese (didn't seem like much to it). Definitely would recommend trying their pizzas though! read more

Ordered a pizza for takeout on a busy Friday night and was told 35 minutes, which I thought was pretty good. I have zero issue with the service, quality, or flavor of the pizza, it was very good and very well cooked. My knock on this place is the cost and the amount of toppings. I got a sausage and long hot pizza and it was $40 before tip. For that price I expect the pizza to be covered in toppings but about 6 of the 12 slices either did not have sausage or peppers or anything at all, almost like they only used a half a link of sausage and 2 peppers and that's not acceptable when charging such crazy prices. read more

After having terrible service and leaving Johnny's Cafe, my boyfriend and I walked down the street and figured we'd try Saltwater in hopes for a better experience. What a mistake that was! We were seated quickly by the hostesses who were all sitting on their phones very uninterested when we walked in. Then we waited at least 10 minutes to be greeted by our server, Gianna. I figured we better get our drink and food order in while she was there since it took so long to acknowledge us to begin with. I ordered the entree gnocchi and my boyfriend ordered a regular pizza. The gnocchi came out first and after realizing the pizza wasn't coming anytime soon, my boyfriend told me to eat so it wouldn't get cold. The pizza was brought out about 20 minutes after I received my gnocchi when they were both supposed to be entrees. So I was done by meal by the time my boyfriend got his. Meanwhile, our server never came back to check on us or ask if we wanted another round or anything! She was more interested in socializing with the hostesses and other patrons that she knew. Do not eat here!!! This restaurant is horrible and the management absolutely sucks. I came to eat dinner here to celebrate passing my real estate exam. We arrived at around 6:45 and and ordered right away since we were starving. After about 30 minutes we started to get concerned that our table had been forgotten since we had no bread and ran out of water while all of the tables around us were being served and our waitress was nowhere to be found. About 15 minutes later we finally get her attention and she tells us the kitchen is backed up, however a group behind us who sat after about 20 minutes after we did had already gotten their food. She gave us no time estimate and just walked away. Finally about another 20 minutes later all of our appetizers and entrees arrived at once of course except for the one thing I ordered and my main meal which was a round pizza. The waitress said it was on its way shortly but after about another 15 minutes and after everyone in my group finished there food there was still no pizza. And to add insult to injury, the table next to us that were seated about 30 minutes after us had gotten that exact kind of pizza and all of there food already. Finally, we pointed this out to our waitress and she left then came back and said she brought this up and there was no explanation. She also said she wanted to be transparent with us and said the pizza would probably be another 15 minute and we would have to wait and they could do us the favor of boxing it up. At this point everyone was completely finished so we asked if we could cancel the pizza. So I had to leave the table and my family to run to Pierre's pizza a block away since I was so hungry and a storm was coming in soon. And on the way back, I got caught in the rain and my pizza got soaked. Finally, to top this all off they did not apologize or say anything!! And not that they were required to do so, but nothing was taken off our check, we were not given a free dessert, or anything. So it can suffice to say that I will not be coming back here. The pizzas I have had here in the past were extraordinarily oily and not good, so I was probably better off eating at Pierres anyway. read more

All I can say is Holy Moly! Our dinner here tonight was just amazing. First, this margate spot is cool, upscale, and offers indoor and outdoor dining. The indoor dining area is very nice and also features a bar area and an open pizza kitchen area. Located in the fun and trendy area in Margate, this restaurant is right in the heart of the action. The staff is super friendly and go ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure they provide service you will only find in high end dining. From the owners Lori and David, to chef David, and wait staff including Anastasia, the service is A++. They were so understanding of our allergy concerns, so accomodating, and just tremendous in every way!!! And in case you are interested, the restaurant's menu items do not contain any nuts. Now, to the part you are reading this for - the food...everything is homemade- the Caesar salad was so delicious - homemade creamy Caesar dressing, homemade croutons that were more like amazing garlic bread than hard croutons, it was a savory treat to say the least. The Pasta Fagioli soup again was top notch. A huge bowl of tomato based deliciousness featuring beans, rigatoni, and fresh shredded Parmesan cheese. Our dinners were phenomenal as well including veal and chicken dishes. Many dinner entrees are accompanied by a side of homemade Gnocchi in a creamy tomato blush type sauce. Seriously, the lightest, fluffiest, BEST gnocchi I have ever had in my life! The sauce was decadent and the gnocchis were so good I cannot possibly do justice to them with my limited vocabulary. The gnocchi didn't have potato, but rather seemed to have various cheese elements including ricotta and others. We never got to dessert because we were stuffed at the end of our entrees. They do offer homemade biscotti, zeppolis, and cannoli. I promise I am not family or related to the owners, and not friends with anyone associated with the restaurant. This review is legit. Atmosphere decent. But came by for a few drinks with friends. By far, worst bar pours. Barely a 3 count on a Tito's and club. For those of you not in the know, 1 count is 1/4 oz. So essentially, a glass full of tiny ice shavings, 3/4 oz of Tito's, and club soda. Definitely not what I would expect from a place that was highly recommended. Hopefully I'm experiencing a bartender who is 1 week in on their job. I will update from 2 stars to 4 stars as my second drink was made by a different bartender and was a standard pour.
