Somehow someway, the ownership forgot that their customers and their reputation and quality of food pays their bills! The gentleman owner is rude and thinks he's some kind of mafia boss! Ordered delivered pizza with extra cheese. The pizza came with all the cheese and sauce shifted to one side of the box like it had been dropped on the way over. Called the ownership spoke to him in a polite manner, and I was told that it didn't happen and it wasn't his problem. After I told him fine if that was his attitude, I would never order from there again and he started cursing at me! On another order before the pizza order, we ordered tomato and mozzarella Caprese. It had three thin slices of plum tomato and one piece of cheese on a very small salad with dressing that was non-descriptive on the side. Brought this to his attention again the same attitude listen I don't owe you business. I don't owe you anything you're in the customer service business! In case you forgot what that means, that means you cater to your customers. You are polite you are welcoming, you are courteous, and above all you listen to their complaints without already having a preconceived judgment that all customers are assholes! Decent option just across the bridge from OC in Marmora, by the Shop Rite. I think I picked the wrong menu item (did too much customizing with a buffalo chicken sandwich!) but it was still good and they gave me what I asked for. Mama Mia's is a hidden gem located in the ShopRite shopping center in Marmora, and it has been on my list for quite a long time. It has a small dining room that you traverse through the take out counter to get into. All dinners come with complimentary salad and bread (the bread was not to good, kind of tough), our party of fours one complaint. Chicken parmigiana with a side of spaghetti, was good, I had Sacheti Monte Bianco; confetti bag pasta filled with fontina cheese, prosciutto sauteed with shitake mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, garlic, white wine, reduced with a touch of cream and parmesan cheese, a very different pasta dish, and tasty. MDW had bronzino, filleted at the table my the owner, she said it was delious, but it unfortunately had quite a few bones which made it hard to eat. Very conflicted on how to rate our experience. We went for lunch to try the cheesesteak and pizza. Ordered a slice of pepperoni which was disappointing on all aspects. The crust, sauce, cheese and pepperoni were all disappointing. The cheesesteak was advertised coming with lettuce and tomato and having 8 of meat. Jordan asked if we wanted it on a seeded roll and I was happy. Unfortunately what she brought out was pitiful. Check the first picture to see there is no way this was close to 8 oz. Needless to say we were extremely disappointed. I actually cut half the roll off on each half of the sandwich. That's how scarce the sandwich was. When I was asked I told her taste was good but this was far from what was advertised and looked pitiful. She offered to make a new one which I turned down at first but she did really want to make it right so I agreed. The sandwich we took home and ate later on at night was quite good and appeared to have the advertised 8 oz of meat. So if the second one is the truly how they make them then I found one of the better cheesesteak in the area. If it was filled to compensate for the first attempt then that would be the last time they will see me. There in lies the conflict because to determine which is the most accurate depiction of their cheesesteak I have to go back and probably will. The one bright spot was Jordan who remained nice and sweet throughout the ordeal. She's a great example of excellent customer service and deserves a raise. read more

This is where I go to get my cheesesteak. It is like those I got in Philadelphia. Soft roll, plenty of meat cooked just right so it is well done, still juicy and seasoned just right. Plenty of cheese mixed in. I get it with fried onions and sweet peppers with marinara sauce on the side. Even if you freeze part of one, they taste delicious! Plenty of sides to choose from and the people there are polite and friendly! Small place with few tables. read more

While all the food was good, the escargot appetizer was really extraordinary and a must order if you go there. We split it, and at first blush, it seemed odd once we saw it to split, as it is served is a small pot. However, very filling and just something that was noteworthy and remarkable. We were unfortunately disappointed with our take out order. We had high hopes for this establishment which is very cute and quaint inside. We ordered three entrees and two apps, which came to $111 before tip. The Eggplant Rollantini was drowning in Mozzarella cheese, as was the manicotti. The Manicotti would have been pretty good had it not had so much cheese baked on top of them, holding the three in place ...which made it hard to separate them. The crepes were thin and delicate and not overfilled The Gnocchi was the biggest bust. The menu promises that they are light and pillow like ... they turned out to be heavy and dense. The Sunday Dinner was average..as were the meatballs. My husband is still trying to figure out if the red sauced were homemade or not? At least we can say that we tried it, but we won't be returning. What a fantastic treat. Visiting up from Miami and have to tell you we had a great mea and Joe the owner is a gem. We started with a slice of thin crust pizza that blows the doors off of Miami pizza. Then we had broccoli rabe with sausage and beans, outstanding! Then we had eggplant parmigiana with a side of angel hair aoli. Equal to the reining eggplant champ of the world which is M&M Pizza in Hillside NJ. We also had the shrimp in red sauce and penne in pink sauce both were delicious. We just picked up take out here tonight. Stromboli is completely burnt on the bottom... like charred black. Can't even really eat it because it just tastes burnt. Was hard to cut through as well because the bottom was burnt to a crisp. Why even serve this? read more

First and foremost, whenever I sit down in a restaurant and have to shoo away flies throughout my time there, the place will get a bad review!!! After reading a few reviews before I started writing this one, I noticed that flies are a recurring issue. This indicates that the ownership doesn't care about finding a resolution to this problem, which is a shame because some of the food and the service were good. I want to share my disappointment about the Calamari appetizer I recently had. I had enjoyed it several times before, but this time, it was too spicy. The calamari strips seemed to be frozen breaded strips mixed in with the saucy mixture of olives and roasted peppers instead of fresh-cut, which is why it was so good before. It's not the same, and I was very disappointed! Even though I was a bit surprised by the $7.00 sharing cost, we really enjoyed "Penne My Way" despite having to shoo the flies away throughout our meal. I must point out that the restaurant dining room menu doesn't offer pizza as an option. Why? Is it their way of steering you to order higher-priced entrees? read more

Joseph sold Mama Mia's. The food has gone downhill. Ordered Shrimp Scampi and got shrimp in Lemon butter sauce. The bruschetta tasted like it came out of a can. Service was okay. The gnocchi were hard, and the mussels were the worst I've had in my life--chewy and flavorless. Ordered the cheesesteak Stromboli, actually I think they call it the Napolenta for something. It was appropriately sized for the 1-2 servings. It was for pick up when I arrived. I asked for extra sauce and it was provided. The flavor of the meat and cheese was good, however the green peppers inside the Stromboli were hard, not cooked, and a little bitter. I came here with my family for a Sunday dinner. The meal was delicious and we all enjoyed our food, but in addition to the ridiculous 3% credit card fee, we were overcharged on both checks (wine is paid for separately). The wine check had a tip added that we did not write or sign for. For simplicity, we left one tip for the full meal on the main check. For the main check, we were charged about $7 more than what was signed for. My father, who paid for the meal, contacted the restaurant about the errors. We were not really worried about $10, but the incorrect totals on both checks were concerning. I expected that a business would also be concerned that their customers were overcharged, but Mama Mia's was not at all. The employee never admitted that the business made a mistake, and the restaurant does not even retain the signed credit card receipts. She eventually agreed to credit back $10, but the card was only refunded $6. We are very disappointed in the way the restaurant handled this, and I'd recommend that you check your statement if you use a credit card. Our meal was very good, but it is hard to support a restaurant you can't trust to charge you correctly. read more

We have eaten here 2x in the past and it was really good. The owner came around the tables and spoke to everyone in Italian or English and made sure every part of your dining experience was wonderful - and it was. We enjoyed it so much that we chose it for our recent dinner with friends. Unfortunately we had an entirely different experience. The ambience was terrible - lights were turned up high. I felt like we were at a pizza place with the kids. The food was not up to past standards. First course salads were wilted and old looking. I didn't eat it. Appetizers were shared and way too small. Server should have recommended we order more when we said we would share (trying sharing a 4inch eggplant rollatini between 6 people! ) Main dishes were just okay. 3 people ordered the Mama's Sunday dinner which was disappointing. Sausage was terrible. One had the Bronzino which was tasty but overpriced for the venue at $44.00!! Very disappointed with the experience. We don't see these friends that often and could have chosen anyplace. Owner was not on site as we asked for him. To be fair, our group dined here on a Thursday night and my other experiences were all weekends. Perhaps they cater to the pizza crowd during the week. Not attentive on plates. Ordered the Veal Chop for $37 and that was what was taking long apparently with no notice. Loud and spotty service. We ate here last night on a whim, it's been on my list to check out and we happened to be passing through around dinner time last evening. Myself, wife and three kids had dinner and everyone was pleased with their meals. My kids are cheese fanatics and the middle one likes the fresh grated Parmesan that was served to us. The kids also liked their pastas more than usual, penne and tortellini. I had the pappardelle with short rib which was personally great! They serve it at the table, mixed in a large block of cheese. It had plenty of large mushrooms and chunks of short rib. It could have been two meals but I ended up destroying it all. Ha! My wife was very happy with the penne Mama, thought it was very tasty. The owners were at the front greeting everyone who entered, they were super friendly and accommodating, got our group a table quickly even though things were very busy in the small dining room. We had multiple servers/runners attending to us and they were also very helpful and on top things. It was a Sunday night in a sleepy town, I expected it to be quiet here but I was wrong. We arrived a little after 6 and left around 7:45 and there was a steady stream of people coming in the entire time, even as we walked out. Place was full the entire time. We just walked in there at 4:30 and already they are fully reserved??? The girl at the front (aka hostess??)...was snooty! You don't have customer service skills!!! You should have checked with your manager to see if we can be seated in the interim until your reserved customers gets there at around 6:00 pm, not 4:30. Excellent food! They overbooked our 715pm reservation for 2 for outside. Finally got seated at 743pm. Then we were ignored. 10 minutes later a server took an order for 2 waters and 1 coke. 10 more minutes go by. A dramatic, boisterous lady came to our table, explained that she was 1 of 4 people who would be taking care of us. She wanted us to know what a stressful, overwhelming day she'd had and then she said, "I'm going to tell you the specials then I have 4 orders to take, then I'll be back to take your order." Yikes! Lady, I absolutely do not care what kind of day you are having. Lady, I don't care what your plan for taking care of customers is. If we didn't have to listen to what a hero survivor overcomer you are, I could have ordered the meal I expected to be seated for over an hour ago. But, ok. You have a plan. May we have 1 coke please? Sure. 20 more minutes went by and I flagged another of the staff down to ask if our server could come to the table. Finally the young man who seated us originally took our order. We ate about 20 minutes later. The food was excellent. The experience was disastrous. I stayed upbeat through it all because it was SO ridiculous that you couldn't have made it up. I am spreading the word about my experience at Mama Mia restaurant in Mamora, NJ. Below is the review I posted on their website. The Jersey shore really knows how to chase people away. This is another strike against them. My husband and I were regular customers when Mama Mia was located in Seaville. We have been going there since they opened. Since they moved to Mamora, we had two very bad experiences with the hostess. Tonight took the cake. We made reservations a number of days ago and when we arrived the Hostess was seating us at a table against the wall and a table of 6 beside us so the people who were sitting there would have to get up for us to be seated. There were other tables for two available and the hostess would not seat us there because they were reserved. So we had a reservation but I guess we don't count. After all the years of being a Parton to this restaurant, I will never go there again and tell everyone I know of how we were treated. There is no way the table for 2 should be located there because if I am spending over $100.00 for a dinner I would expect to have a nice table not up against a wall and almost up against the table beside us. I have better seating at a McDonalds. Joseph you need to tell your hostess she needs to treat your customers so they might want to return to your restaurant and not chase them away. read more
