Lady next to me got 2 slices of pepperoni before me even though she ordered after me. I could tell my waitress was confused. She went to counter and asked. Got seated quickly and greeted by a pleasant waitress. Mostly plastic/wood booth type seating. They serve fresh ice tea and lemonade from the adjoining shop which was nice. Food was just o.k which is why the three stars. We ordered a salad, buffalo chicken sub, spaghetti and meatballs, and sausage Alfredo. The Alfredo was swimming in sauce but the meat was ok. The rest of the food was good - about on par with diner food. Overall we'd go again if we were hungry and in need of a place to sit down to eat but wouldn't be our first choice. read more

Super old school Italian joint, and didn't have high expectations as it was late night and the only eat-in place on the boardwalk that had no wait. The eggplant parm sub was perfection - bread fresh and toasted, thin slices of eggplant and the right amount of mozzarella and sauce. Reminded me of the eggplant parm subs from Staten Island. My boys loved their pizza and spaghetti and meatballs. My husband ordered a cheeseburger that was huge and he also said it was reminiscent of old-school diner burgers. We had a great family meal there with our children and grandchildren. The service was excellent and the waitstaff were very friendly. All of our food was was excellent and we had a lot of fun singing Sweet Caroline with people from many other tables. We were there on a Tuesday night early and had no wait for a large table. We sat ourselves and were waited on immediately. The pizza was great. I had a slice of white and a slice cheese. Slices were thin and crispy and not super scalding hot. They were just the right temperature. My bf ordered extra cheese slices. They used whole slices of American cheese which we thought was a little odd but he did enjoy his meal. Just visited here, Monday, June 10. After a long day of beach, walking, shopping, went home to get showered and go to the boardwalk for dinner. I had Angell's in mind because I'm gluten-free and it is the only place that offers gluten-free crust. We got there around 8:40 PM and no customers were in the restaurant. It kind of scared us. The door was halfway closed so I opened it and asked if they were open. The girl said they just closed. When I asked why so early, she said " it's Monday." Apparently all the stores on the boardwalk close early on Monday until kids are out of school mid-June. I asked her if there was any other pizza place they know of that serves gluten-free pizza. I guess the owner heard me and offered to make me a pizza! I thought that was very kind of him, so I went ahead and ordered a pepperoni pizza. While it was costly at $21, that's not unusual for gluten-free. It was a very good, thin crust (probably made from rice flour.) The pepperoni was spicy and the sauce and cheese were very good. I thought it was kind of him to to make it even though they were already closed and told him that. He said "we are here to serve the public." I will go back the next time I'm in Ocean City. read more

A delicious meal or snack for when you're walking the boardwalk and want a savory treat. The downside? I've been visiting Ocean City nearly every year for the last 15 years and Angelo's has been a staple for our family. They have authentic Italian food and the owners are from Italy. Awful, VERY overpriced pizza. Blame it on move it day to our rental and trying to get dinner on a Saturday night in high season. After calling 2 places, 1 who didn't answer and the 2nd being an hour and 45m wait, tried the next place on the list without looking at their menu and just ordering (2) pizzas. I thought when I ordered the pizzas, the guy said $51. But when I arrived to pick up the pizzas, it was $71, ~$40 for a buffalo chic pizza and ~$28 for a regular plain pizza. Is this a resort or the OCNJ boardwalk? Absolutely ridiculous and the pizza was AWFUL. You should NOT be charging this amount for pizza. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Me and my boyfriend just went here after looking up places for Italian food. With pretty good reviews we decided to try it out. We sat down and i ordered the TWENTY SIX DOLLAR stuffed shells. I had pretty decent expectations with it being a family owned business. However, I was given a poor excuse of a side salad and 4 microwaved stuffed shells. I tried half of one and my boyfriend tried the other half. Literally DISGUSTING. watery "cheese" filled stuffed shells that I would not even feed a dog. I told our waiter I did not want them. He took my plate and brought us the check - which still had the stuffed shells on it. We asked for them to be taken off given I tried one and they were literally inedible. He said it was "store policy" since I had eaten some of it. If I didn't eat it how would I know I wouldn't like it? Ridiculous. We asked for the manager which he followed with "I am the manager" .. what kind of manager wants to have their customers leave angry and hungry and provide absolutely no accommodations. My boyfriend ordered a bacon cheese burger which came with 3 pieces of microwave bacon. Our waiter handed him the burger holding it with his thumb leaving an imprint on top of it. I've been going to Angelo's (the real one by 14th - they used to be around 8th back then, but moved to the current location 20+ years ago) since the mid-70s. While they have great pizza, I almost only go for one reason: they have the best cheesesteaks in OC and possibly the best ones on the planet. This is coming from someone who grew up 10 minutes from Philly in South Jersey and I've eaten many times at all the famous places, like Jim's (my favorite in Philly), Tony Luke's, Pat's, and Geno's (among others) and Angelo's is probably tied with Jim's for my favorite (my other favorite is Sal's in my hometown of Washington Twp). And since our son was old enough to appreciate cheeseteaks (around 7-8 years old) that's always our first stop when we vacation in OC - we even go there before unpacking the car! Even my wife likes their cheesesteaks. I've spent more than a few one-week vacations, where I ate a cheesesteak there, every day, lol. On top of the great food, the owners/staff are incredibly friendly and clearly take great pride in running a top-notch Italian joint. Heading down tomorrow and I can't wait. read more

A pleasant surprise on the boardwalk. As most places only take cash, my friends and I were kind of at a loss since all we had were credit cards. Regardless we checked out our luck at every restaurant-like place. I was really craving Italian so when we stumbled upon this it was kind of a given that we would go if they took credit cards. I expected the prices to be a lot cheaper than they were given the ambience of the place ( take out pizza parlor ). However, considering that everything is probably over priced down near the ocean the prices were in the general range of the restaurants nearby. The food itself was phenomenal! I was pleasantly surprised at the flavors that were used to spruce up just spaghetti and meatballs. The other two entrees we got were chicken parm sub and the shrimp tomotoe dried butter garlic sauce on ziti. By far the best plate was the shrimp dish. The issue is the pricing has increased 35%, plus a 4% charge if you use a credit card. Most expensive plain pizza on the boardwalk $27.00. Preps, Manco,Pisa all under $20.00. I get really steamed when a place gets 4 stars and you come to find out that the place doesn't even deserve one star. Angelo's is boardwalk food. I eat here at least twice a week due to my working on the boardwalk. The pizza is the best in town (try the tomato pie), and the sandwiches are excellent as well. This our go to place when we can't figure out where else to go. Wife says they have the best mussels on the island. I got penne and sausage which was good. Daughter had penne with blush sauce. We have always enjoyed their pizza and I don't think a comparison with Mack and manco is fair. You either love Mac and manco or you don't. I personally am not a fan.
