a stack of pancakes with butter on top

Salt Water Diner completely took me by surprise. It's a local, family friendly diner with great food and service. I personally loved the customized mugs and layout of the interior. Abby, our server, was attentive and delightful. I eat a lot of pancakes, so I feel confident saying that these pancakes are some of the best in Mass. Fluffy yet crispy, not too sweet but buttery and savory. The omelets certainly didn't disappoint either. They were absolutely delicious! Everything! Even the coffee shocked me with its flavor and quality. Will definitely be coming back! Thanks SaltWater!

service was a bit slow but we weren't in a rush so we didn't mind. the food was excellent and made up for it! generous servings and great prices. the staff were happy to accommodate food requests

Good basic diner, which I was craving after spending too much $ all week on "vacation" food. Totally hit the spot in my belly and wallet! I ordered the basic 2 egg breakfast and it was perfect. The diced potatoes had a touch of onion which was delicious. Crisp bacon! My son ordered the banana chocolate chip pancakes and they were HUGE and yummy. Fresh sliced banana cooked into the batter. He didn't even need syrup. Coffee was good too!

The Irish eggs Benedict were very good. Great corn beef hash. Service was good but it wasn't busy when we were there.

Fish tacos also great - solid heat on them. Drinks are great - music selection is great - but the service is top notch. We dine out several nights a week and this is one of our favorites!

Sat in dining room to the left as u enter. There was only one other group in there seated at the time. Good selection of drinks , menu on the smaller side for something for everyone. Waitress friendly but Took an unusually long time to get our drinks. They were very good however. We ordered our food and appetizers of oysters and clams . Our friends really enjoyed them. We ordered bread w spicy edamame humus which was very good but could have used more of the yummy toasted sourdough bread for the humus which was happily a big portion.Main entrees took again unusual long time to come out. At this time restaurant filling up. Restaurant can get very loud, had to raise our voices a bit while talking to hear one another. Entrees got thumbs up, herb chicken dinner, salmon burger, burger, Caesar salad was a side but big portion, delicious dressing , and fish tacos. Tacos were excellent. Fresh bit spicy, just the right size for 3 tacos. Overall food was very good and nice presentation, and I recommend, and I would go back, however service very slow but again friendly waitstaff and hostess. I took 1 star off due to slow service.

PATTY MELT REVIEW…read more Iconic diner on the edge of Chinatown, a couple blocks east of the Expressway. It's been around for decades and it's open 24/7. More of an authentic this-place-has-aged feel than the typical diner attempt to evoke an earlier era. Went in the morning and went for a patty melt-- because I could. It's too elusive these days, so being able to not only find one but have it at breakfast, a double win. Double patty is standard, not an add-on, and fries (probably frozen, but lengthy, crisp and fluffy) are included. No onions, no rye, but lettuce and tomato-- a non-traditional configuration. Nicely browned patties that had juiciness. The ingredients weren't anything to write home about, but the execution was great all around and so was the cheerful service from a seasoned veteran. Sure, I've had better with the proper rye, griddled onions, and higher quality beef, but an easy 4 stars for the execution, value, vibe, and being able to even order a patty melt before 10 in the morning. Bonus points for a plastic ketchup squeeze bottle that was slightly warm. Breakfast items (eggs, crispy home fries, and pancakes) on a neighboring table looked good.

We didnt mind. Our sever, Marie was extremely attentive and nice. South Street Diner is a small but not too small venue which serves breakfast all day. With my meal, I chose a mimosa, not just the regular prosecco and orange juice, but an apple pie mimosa made with swirls of caramel and topped with cinnamon. It was good. The food came out fast, portions were huge to where I could not eat it all, and it was delicious. I'm sure if in Boston again, I'll return.

Finally got a chance to stop in and we were not disappointed. I was torn between the blueberry pancakes and the corned beef hash/eggs. I went the hash route as it was described as homemade. I have a place closer to home that has fabulous corned beef hash and I find myself comparing everyone else's to theirs. Uncle Charlie's was wonderful. Taste wise, it was similar to my close to home favorite. Uncle Charlie's hash was prepared with smaller chunks of tender meat and potatoes. It was easier to eat and just plain wonderful. I did read about another "Yelper's" experience with blueberry pancakes and now I need to get back to Weymouth and try the pancakes! We'll be back....soon!
