Not too salty or acidic, but rather, savory, rich and creamy, and a veritable meal unto itself. I got three tacos with shrimp, carne, and fried cod. Super high quality ingredients. The carne was a little dry but easily remedied with the green tomato salsa. The food at the other tables was equally impressive. Especially the grilled octopus. I saw many remnants from Hanks, the previous restaurant, but it was lighter and more colorful and festive, with hanging banners, and friendly upbeat bar tenders and hosts, who were genuinely hospitable and attentive. We will be back to experience the rooftop dining as the weather allows.

I really like their menus, it's on a tablet which I don't see too often. I also love the location. You can walk next door for some delicious ice cream. My main meal was the al pastor, marinated pork with sofrito rice, fried black beans, pico, avocado, queso fresco, and creamy crema fresca. The kids loved their Mac and cheese. The atmosphere was casual and exactly where ending a long day or beginning a weekend should happen. Clean. Comfortable. Terrific vibe. Liz, today's bartender/server added to the experience. Enjoyed a few things off their very generous Happy Hour menu. Reduced prices and portions - but all of the feel and flavor. Gave me a change to try a range of things in one visit. Can't wait to go back. Of the things I tried, the smoked wings and cole slaw were by far the best. Kielbasa and brisket were good - not fatty - but had a much more mild smoke profile than I anticipated. Not sure how much time they were on the smoker - but delicious. Jerk chicken sandwich was also good. Not spicy. But flavorful. My next trip I'll delve into the Mexican side - with wings all over again. I don't drink alcohol - but the bar scene was perfect. Again, a terrific, laid back, fun place.

Sara the waitress a huge shout out to her she was absolutely amazing. So with the help of Sara and in laws I found something that I can order that won't send me to the emergency room, it was a quesadilla steak with cheese and on the side was cheese rice. So I never had a quesadilla before so I don't know how to compare it to anyone else but all I can say is delicious, the cheese rice I couldn't put the fork down it was so yummy. I took a picture of everyone else's plate but I forgot the names but when asked they said it was good, the really long plate one though was a little spicy according to my in law. What really caught me off guard was how big the space is. From the outside, I assumed it was just a sandwich spot, but they actually have a full bar and a pretty expansive setup inside. It wasn't very busy when we went--actually, we were the only ones there--which made the atmosphere a little quiet for lunch, but that also meant quick service. Would definitely come back to try more of the menu or maybe swing by when it's a bit more lively.

That being said we arrived and there wasn't really anyone in the main restaurant but the bartender was friendly enough. Unless it's an off peak time on a weekday, that's usually a potential cause for concern for me. I can't comment too much on the service since a few staff members just came by to help clean up and we didn't have the normal patron experience since it was an event hosted by the restaurant. Instead of going with the tacos or the enchiladas, which looked like they had been sitting around contemplating life for a while, I just kind of made a bit of a salad with ingredients. It was fine enough, not something I would personally spend money on. The best way I could describe the food would be hangover food. If you had a night of drinking, this could be a spot you might head to instead of fast food if they're open late. If you're looking for authentic Mexican this is not the place to go, unless you prefer Tex-Mex I suppose. Either way I wouldn't recommend this place based off our recent experience.

The anomaly we should point out right away is that Speedy Tacos, a terrific little restaurant, is…read moreanything but speedy. And that's a virtue here, because it means that your order is prepared after you order it and isn't sitting in a microwave. Believe us, that makes a huge difference in the quality of your dish not to mention the taste. And that's a big reason why we give Speedy Tacos five stars. There are other reasons it is deserving, most notably the embracing service provided by the family. Truly, we are made to feel so welcome when we go in. It never fails to delight us and enhance the dining experience. And that dining experience has been very good every time we've gone in. The menu isn't exhaustive as in some larger Mexican restaurants. We'd call it a bit more limited though plentiful for most preference. Our favorites? Start with the ceviche, one of those dishes that is prepared when ordered; the octopus is so tender and freshly prepared. Just right! The Fajitas de Pollo comes in cheese, yummy with the sautéed peppers and onions. The tacos, your choice, are delicious, the meats perfectly cooked. The sides are huge (one serving of rice seems large enough for an entire table). Lots of their business is take-out. But there are tables and a bar inside, and we enjoy dining there. The mariachi music is a delight (if it annoys you you'll likely find it is quickly tuned out), but mostly it's being around the pleasant management. Prices are not on the inexpensive side, but the servings are quite substantial, and given the quality of the food and the overall vibe here, we'd have to call it a bargain. So, yes, we're fans. big fans. Speedy Tacos is located in the Staples shopping area, the one with a TJ Maxx, Ninety nine, etc. We urge you to stop by.
