Highly recommend this place! They're in the downtown area. You can find street parking easily. The owner and his mother are very welcoming. The owner's mother is the chef, and she's really talented! Excellent Puerto Rican cuisine. I've eaten here several times since pandemic began, the food is always prepared quickly, but in a skillful manner. Everything has always has filled me up, while being very tasty too. Spice level has also been perfect for me. I've had the pork platter w/ yellow rice & gondolas a few times, as well as the chicken platter w/ yellow rice & gondolas too. I enjoyed both dishes. The Cuban sandwich was also stellar, very good. And the desserts in the fridge are PHENOMENAL ! Fresh baked "Bread from Heaven" is just that -- soft & fresh-tasting. Owner is a very nice & friendly guy. If I lived in town I would eat here every week. I ordered the fried pork and tostones and it was probably the most tender pork I've had when I order this plate anywhere. My picky Puerto Rican boyfriend really enjoyed the pernil with rice and beans. He said the taste of the beans was really good. We bought some fresh bread and dessert to take with us and both were tasty. The man at the counter was so friendly and helpful. It's a small place with two tables available to eat in. read more

*Updated Review* I ordered rice and pernil for pick up. I got home (I live almost 30 minutes away) and cannot eat the rice. The rice tastes like cigarette chemicals. When I called, he told me that the rice gets stuck to the bottom of the pan. There is a difference between Smokey and straight up chemical taste. Two hours after eating one bite and my throat is irritated, like when I'm exposed to second hand smoke. Highly disappointed and I raved about them to my coworkers just a few days ago knowing we would be in the area for a meeting. read more

I just happened to be walking on Main Street and saw the sign for empanadas. I'm so glad I stopped. I ordered one beef and one chicken empanada. It came to $4. I thought the price was low and I'm sorry to say my expectation dropped. I was wrong. They were so big and tasty. The beef was seasoned ground beef and the chicken was seasoned pieces of chicken. They were cooked, not reheated, while I waited. The owner(?) came out and offered me a cup of the yellow rice and pork to try while I waited. It was a lot more than a sample and so good I had to leave another $5. Can't wait to try this again. (They also use Doordash, Grubhub and Uber Eats). read more

They make amazing Tembleque, The only reason I'm giving a four star review is because they're Cubano is basically a pulled pork sandwich. I'm parked Cuban and I'm not trying to be picky, but it was a little disappointing even though the flavors were good. But the tembleque (coconut pudding) made up for it. The bread was delicious and the quality of everything received was really good. So if you're looking for an affordable bite to eat and you're in this area, definitely come to the bakery. They also have very quick service and a very pleasant staff. read more

I would recommend this bakery the owners are extremely nice and they have the best tres letche cake idk if I spelled that right but omg they have the best cakes a pretty big piece for 5 bucks or under and the other things they make are yummy as well. Ordered some lunch today for myself and my staff in preparation of adding some Puerto Rican menu items at my work. Some R&D, you might say... The food was honest, straightforward and very flavorful. The empanada dough and the roll used for the chicken sandwich definitely both tasted like they were made from scratch- an impressive feat for such a small shop. The pork shoulder was moist and very well seasoned. The owner is a super friendly dude and takes pride in his product. I am a bit ashamed of myself that I had never eaten here before, even though it's been in town for years! read more

Driving around town took a wrong turn and in the distance I found the light of this amazing finding. Once I saw this bakery I had to stop. I picked up some goodies for my family and once we arrived home with all this goodness which is now all we can talk about is our next visit to the area. He had the water bread which was fresh and very good. The deserts we had which sadly I don't have a picture of was outstanding. My mother in law said we need to buy this for our next birthday celebration. We tried the PR cake our favorite. We also had the chocolate cake it was soft and not crazy sweet just perfect. The tres leches was also amazing and not overly sweet like other places usually serve. The appetizers were very good! You don't need to hop on a plane for some delicious Puerto Rican dishes! The food at Rosa Vega Bakery is some of the best Latin cuisine I have ever had!! We have been here twice (we don't live in the area) and both times, it was definitely worth the 45 minute drive. We usually order the Pernil and Chicken plates... Always perfectly cooked and so delicious. We love it so much we usually end up eating most of it in the car since we can't wait until we get home. But I do have to say, the biggest treat is the homemade flan! It literally is the best flan!! I even bought two so I can save one for later in the week! I ordered the pernil with the yellow rice.The pork was dry and the rice was very salty,definitely over spiced. The potato ball was great but very small.The beef empanada was good. The pasteles were ok but way overpriced,usually I get 2 for $ 3.00 but these are $ 5.00 each. The service was friendly and quick. The pork and rice was $ 10 and usually I pay $ 7 or 8 . I live 30 minutes away so I don't think I will go back. I can get better food cheaper in new britain or waterbury read more

This food here is amazing. Real authentic Puerto Rican food. Ready to take out or you can eat in their small restaurant. We had the Chicken and Pernil with yellow rice and peas but, white rice and red beans are also available as a side. Everything was exceptional. We also had the guava pastry and Tres Leches cake which were both as good as we have had during our many visits to Puerto Rico. There is a variety of desserts and they also had empanadas, pasteles made with pork, and a beef stew. When I asked if they make Mufungo I was told to call ahead and give them a few days and they will have it made to order. Great to know! We will be going back often.
