The first time here and I ordered the Carne Asada platter. It was very good, too! The presentation was pretty impressive and wasn't your typical slopped together prison food that most Mexican restaurants serve you. I liked everything I ate and vosed to come back. The next time I came I ordered the Mahi plate because I was told by the server its a really good dish and I would love it. Hmm, I can't help feeling what was so special about it?? I had high hopes and it was a let down. Nothing special, no taste at all, in fact! Okay so I gave it a pass and thought next time I'll order something else. The third time I came I ordered the Steak Fajitas and the meat was full of grizzle! It was steak to me, it look like thin slices of beef, not steak cuts! Even my husband steak burrito was full of grizzle. Terrible!! I just don't understand why there isn't one good awesine Mexican Restaurant in this area. All sub par!! Beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean! Came in on a Wednesday afternoon and it was a small crowd. The waitress was very friendly and helpful with recommendations. Food was excellent! The salsa was a perfect amount of spicy, the mole was delicious, and the crunchy tacos were filling. read more

Stopped in here for Sunday lunch, we live on the hill but don't frequent Lunada bay often. We have been wanting to check out this little section of Lunada and we are glad we did. We decided to give salsa verdes a try as we walked around. Located in the center of a building, right in that little downtown area. We ordered mole enchiladas and shrimp tacos. The shrimp was plentiful and huge, and the mole had great seasoning! We got our daughter steak tacos and she ate them right up. Our waiter was nice and the service was quick. I always say how much I wish PV had more restaurants on the hill, so I am thankful for salsa verdes! We will visit again! read more

Came here for a gathering with friends. Our party was large; if you plan on bringing your crew, they will accommodate but do put in reservations. They will do separate checks but not individual ones for a party as large as ours. The food was great; everyone e around me gave two thumbs up on their respective orders and my flautas were delicious. Got the grilled steak burrito wet with both red and green sauce, it was fantastic. The steak was cooked to perfection. Sauces brought flavor without drowning it, and the whole thing held together better than I expected. Big portion. Nice touch of guacamole, sour cream and salsa on the side. Had churros for dessert with French vanilla ice cream. Crispy outside, soft inside, and the ice cream was a nice touch. Tried this spot for the first time, and it did not disappoint! It's a charming restaurant with a cozy atmosphere, a lovely patio, and even some ocean views from inside. The staff is warm, welcoming, and super accommodating. The salsa was decent but a bit too mild for my taste. For the mains, we went with the grilled steak burrito with red sauce and the chile verde burrito with green sauce--both were absolutely massive and packed with flavor. We also tried the Sizzling Sea Bass Veracruz, served over green rice with Veracruz sauce and vegetables on a hot skillet--delicious! Overall, it was a satisfying meal and worth the visit! read more

I let the server know that I didn't like my food. She took away my full plate and yet still charged me for it and the replacement dish I ordered. The refried beans had no flavor and we had to ask for refills on ice tea. read more

Salsa Verdes - Lunada Bay Absolutely the best wet burritos I've ever had! The owner is super friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is perfect -- they even have firepits outside, so we can bring our fur babies along. I love that I can have my dogs in their stroller while enjoying great food, and they even get to enjoy some grilled chicken too! Don't leave without trying the green salsa -- it's insanely good, but fair warning, it's super spicy . Definitely a new favorite spot in Lunada Bay! read more

Tucked away in Lunada Bay, sits this gem. My date brought her dog and although it was a cool night, we sat outside and enjoyed the warmth from the burners. I ordered the shrimp taco plate and there was plenty enough to take home. The tacos were plump and the shrimp themselves springy and juicy. Can't forget about the complimentary chips and salsa too! We tried this restaurant out for the first time based on the 4.7* rating. We were so disappointed. Our server and all service was great. Two of us had the chicken fajitas and our third person had the chicken quesadilla. The chicken was poorly trimmed (membrane still on it) and tough. Pretty good food! I got the carnitas burrito (wet) and I found it to be satisfactory. If I were to do it again, I wouldn't get the burrito wet. I found the sauce to be my least favorite part of it. Staff was attentive, and the dining area wasn't too loud which is good. read more

As a noted we recently ordered this to go and the chips were still as delicious! While at the restaurant, we ordered chicken tortilla soup which was loaded with chicken and vegetables. This was delicious! The house margarita was also full of flavor and would order again. For the entrees we had Mahi Mahi Tacos and the Mahi Mahi Plate. We are so disappointed in our experience. We came in for dinner, ordered three different entrees and all were not tasty. The steak fajitas looked like boiled meat, the color was light gray, it did not look like meat, it was soft with the weirdest look and texture. The sea bass entree was a big mess in a plate. So many ingredients on top of the fish all mixed in together and the fish was overcooked and buried underneath it all. The chicken quesadilla was bland. The only good thing was the salsa and chips. The waitress asked if we wanted our dishes to go since they looked untouched and when I asked her about the fajita steak and why it tasted that way she brushed it off as "this is how we prepare it" and did not offer us anything, not that we wanted a comped meal but the way it was handled wasn't professional. As a vegan, I get the vegetarian wet burrito without dairy (no cheese or sour cream) so that it's vegan. Very good and super filling. I also ask for no poblano peppers because that can make it a little spicy. Chips and salsa are good too. read more

Solid choice! First time here. We have relatives in the area and never found this spot before. Gotta say, I typically will judge a Mexican spot from the chips and salsa and they hit well! So I was ready for the meal to be yummy and it was. Yay! I had the asada. Very nice piece of meat. I was craving some steak and haven't had it in a while -- their piece of cow was quite good! My company was also happy with their choices. All around very good good. Outdoors was a nice patio where we hung out and relaxed. Very good open space. Not crowded tables. The joint was jumping. Hidden on the second floor, this place was a gem. Delicious salsa and chips. I could not stop eating the salsa. It's not too spicy and the chips were light and crispy without being oily. Truly a memorable experience. From the fresh salsa on the table I knew I was not on the east coast any longer. The carne enchiladas in red sauce was a great choice. We were there with our King Charles Cavalier outside on the patio yesterday. It was such a warm and beautiful day after the rains. Katrina helped us and I had the Camarones Enchilada entree and my husband had the Chile Relleno one. It was all so delicious. It felt like home there. We even got to meet the owner there named Rafael. Such a sweet man and his wife Katrina was wonderful too:) This gem is nestled inside the building that is across from Lunada Bay. These are the best enchiladas in all of socal! The portion big and fairly priced. There's a really pretty ocean view from the restaurant and we had the option to sit where we wanted and sat right by the window.
