Went Sunday night, barely busy...maybe 50% full. The entire staff was unorganized and all over the place. They really do what they want because there is no leadership. It seems like an older couple is managing, or trying to run this location but they don't have a grasp on the business. There is no flow to the service and no strategy. When our server was on the floor (he hid in the back), he was rude and barely paid attention. He did not listen to what we ordered and was a but pushy. He never brought us our iced tea. We ordered queso and mushrooms and opted to have the steak added for $2. He charged us for a full side for $11. Got the carnitas tacos but they were dry. I'm guessing they were a day or two old and reheated. The only thing that was decent the chips but the beans were cold. Hard pass on this location. We'll stick with the Prosper location. read more

Several months ago, we decided to try Salsa. We had an unfriendly waitress who was close to being surly. Honestly, the food wasn't memorable and we're not fans of Tex-Mex anyways, but the chips and salsa were pretty good. Towards the end of the dinner, my daughter told the server that I spoke Spanish and her eyes lit up. We talked a little bit and she said to ask for her table next time. We came back a could have weeks later and sat in her station. She recognized us and was very welcoming. I ordered Chicken Mole because I love mole. I seriously don't know what was on my plate but it was more like a tamale with no filling, covered in some kind of sauce masquerading as mole. The other dinners in our party weren't much better. I try to avoid. Christmas shopping but my wife insisted that we shop today. I negotiated that lunch at Salsa Tex Mex was required. Salsa is such a great refuge on a windy, chilly day. Our server, Darcy, was friendly and did a great job. I had chicken sour cream enchiladas and my wife had beef fajitas. Our food quickly appeared and it was attacked. My wife isn't a guac girl so I had some creamy tasty guacamole with my meal. My enchiladas came with jalapeños and I requested extra. Both meals were sensational and service was top notch. My absolute favorite place to get Tex Mex. I love their salsa and bean dip (try the green salsa, IT IS SO GOOD!). We ordered the Parrillada mix for two and the portion size is MASSIVE! Certain elements of this review may sound silly - buuuuutt - there is a method to my madness. Since moving to the North Dallas areas over 18 years ago, and meeting who would become my wife about 16 years ago- we have not been able to find an authentic Mexican restaurant that was anything close to the restaurants in many large and small locations within Mexico- truly South of the border. All of this Tex Mex is simply not the same - regardless who prepares and serves your meal. Many times when I explore a new "Mexican" restaurant in typically order one or both beef and chicken tacos , which are typically some of the least expensive items on the menu. I recently ordered one of each "to go" as I was on the run to have lunch at home with my wife. When the server gave me my to-go order, I was very surprised at the very large bag with what appeared to be excessive individual packaging- I double checked to ensure this was my order. When I arrived home my wife commented " what in the word did you get - is that for you or both of us?" Upon unpacking my order it became immediately clear what was going on. The two crispy shells were in their own container. The rice and beans were in THEIR own container - and the ground beef and chicken were in their own little round tubs. Cheese + lettuce and Tomato's were also in their smaller individual containers. Wasteful packaging ? NO ! ! ! This method of detail and preparation prevented the crispy shells from quickly turning soggy - along with every else ( including the separate chips & salsa ). My personal preference for a beef taco uses a foundation of seasoned ground beef - along with lettuce, tomato cheese and salsa ALL OF WHICH were executed PERFECTLY with my order. All of this to acknowledge the extraordinary steps that were taken that resulted in the near flawless execution of two simple beef tacos to go. The food was delicious the steak was cooked to a perfect Medium, the mole tasted amazing as well, the mushroom with chicken was okay wish to have seen more protein in the dish but the taste made up for it. Service was friendly and welcoming from the host to our waitress we felt seen and valued, appreciated the attentiveness. The inside is very cute lots of variety. The have a bar area if you just want a quick bite or on a solo night, they also have tv available in one part and on the other side more for family/ friend dinners to really talk and catch up. They also offer outside seating! They do offer chips and 3 dips for the table right when you sit. Would recommend and come back when in the area! read more

People that follow my reviews know I can be BRUTAL! I look at a couple of things. Price, Portion Size, Cleanliness/Ambiance and finally taste. So here goes, This place is AWESOME! . 5 star in all of the categories. I got the Bryan Tacos- Three corn tortillas filled with Monterey jack cheese and grilled steak or chicken fajita. Served with rice, charro beans, tomatoes and sliced avocado. They were the best tacos hand down and the steak was marinated in a amazing way. So freaking good! Wife got Chicken Fajitas and the portion size was crazy large, chicken was very tender and near perfect! Lastly I recommend to get the Guacamole to have with the chips, it was perfect as well. Honestly not one thing negative to say, staff was great and food is better than any other Mexican restaurant in Allen. I have not tried to Enchiladas yet, so stay tuned. Steak fajitas made up for it because the steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection. I ordered a side of grilled veggies that were delightful. They gave a huge portion. This restaurant has the best Tex Mex food in Allen. The salsa and chips that are served at the table are tasty. We ordered a cup of queso to go with the chips, and we enjoyed it. We go to Salsa quite often but it has really gone down hill. Went to the Allen location today and had a bad experience. First we noticed the staff aren't very pleasant anymore. HUGE SHOUTOUT to Diego for taking care of us! We came here on a weekday for happy hour and apps. I've been to 2 other Salsa Tex Mex locations (Plano & Prosper), and they never disappoint! I particularly liked this location as the layout was very modern and spacious! I ordered a swirl margarita, while my 2 friends ordered margaritas on the rocks. I love that the drinks always pack a punch. We got the platter & the queso fundido con chorizo, and everything tasted great! Diego continually checked up on us and recommended drinks! While we live very close to this Salsa Tex Mex, it was welcomed with multiple visits to not have to go to Frisco or Plano anymore. It started off with very good food, drinks and wait services when they first opened. Now, however, it was taken a turn. It depends on who might be doing the cooking I guess. Some days the Taco Salad Shell Bowl is cooked perfect; other times it is so overcooked and burnt. Also, the Green & Red Salsas are some times good, some times bad. Lastly, the Woman at the Front Desk who is constantly walking and watching every action taken in the restaurant by both the customers and the employees is a bit of an annoyance. read more

My husband and I came here after only hearing amazing things, and the rumors are true. We both ordered drinks which were very strong and pretty cheap. For our meal we ordered the Salsa Fajitas which are served on a BED OF QUESO. If you order fajitas as a healthy choice, this is not the dish for you, but the fried onions and the queso that is served with the chicken and beef gives these fajitas a uniqueness that my husband and I both loved. The service wasn't exception but was very fast, so no complaints there. The one thing that was odd was that the patio was basically just an extra room. The exterior was brick and there was really no sign at all that it was more outdoor than the main area. This was our first visit to this location since it just opened, but we have been to other Salsa Tex Mex locations numerous times in the past, so we were generally expecting the same experience. Based on our visit, this location is no different than the other locations, albeit on the smaller side. There's more parking around the back, since space in front is limited. Salsa Tex Mex is pretty much your very typical Tex Mex restaurant in the area...in fact it is exactly what I picture when I picture a Tex-Mex restaurant. The food is consistent and you're not going to be blown away by anything, but nothing is particularly bad either. They don't make the chips, tortillas, or salsas in house. The prices are low and you're generally going to get the same food at any location. They do bring 3 dips to the table with the room temperature chips, a red salsa, a spicier green tomatillo salsa, and a black bean dip. Again, nothing is amazing but nothing is bad. Gloria's has a better bean dip, Lupe does a better salsa, but they are one of the few places doing the tomatillo salsa so I'll give them credit for that. Salsa Tex Mex has decent fajitas, again nothing incredible but text book lower end tex mex fajitas. The cheese is freshly shredded, but the guacamole lacks flavor, the pico definitely isn't fresh, the meat isn't the greatest cut and doesn't have much going on, and you're putting it on some microwaved tortillas from the bag. This is the sort of place that you can comfortably take your older family members to, as well as bring small children. This isn't the sort of place that you'd try to impress anyone with or recommend to a foodie, but it will satisfy hunger at a reasonable price. I will note that while the fajitas are just "meh" at best...they are a fraction of the price of Lupe or Hacienda fajitas (both of which are far superior) so you get what you pay for. Will we return? Probably, but it'll be a few months. Food: 3/5 Price: 5/5 Ambiance: 2/5 - For as new as the place was, it could have been cleaner. Service: 3/5 - You probably won't have a bad service experience, but you also probably won't bother asking for your servers name or remember it once you leave the door. read more

This is a great place to eat! Their sauces are made fresh, daily. Their tomatillo/avocado sauce is our favorite, but all of their sauces are really yummy. Very clean. Very attentive wait staff. They actually fill your water glass, without your needing to ask. Talk about fresh--try their pico da gallo, it's wonderful. I could eat it by itself. I ordered the cheese chili relleno with verde sauce on top, which was delicious. My husband had the beef enchilada dinner, which was very good. What a treat! We were immediately greeted, seated and treated to chips, two salsas and black bean dip. All were really good, chips are paper thin and fresh. We ordered happy hour drinks - all day Sunday - Thursday, so perfect for our Sunday lunch. He had a michelada, which was good. I had the $5.50 house frozen margarita - delicious and what a great deal!! He ordered the Enchiladas Tehanas, and it was great. I ordered the Daniel, and again, it was great. Walked in and it smelled great. Had a clean look and smell too. Food was great in portions, seasoning and taste. We would have given 5 star except when I personally went to the women's bathroom. That was a no. Not thoroughly deep cleaned. They definitely need to be on top of the bathrooms. Again, owner and managers need to do a though deep clean and then for it to kept on every 2 hours (See pictures). I can only imagine the men's bathroom. Anyways, I really liked the booths.
