No frills dining but wow is the food and service great for the price. Staff is incredibly friendly and ambiance is what you'd find in a true Tex-Mex restaurant. I've been coming her for almost 3 decades and some of the same staff have been here for years. It's where the locals eat so you know it's good. Awesome lunch and drink specials too. read more

I hadn't been here in years but my friend had just gone here and loved it, so we went for lunch. There prices are great, the top shelf Marg is delicious. I got the mexitacos and the first one was so good! My second and third one had hair in it :( I sent it back and the didn't charge me asked me if I wanted anything else, but I was turned off by then and still hungry. So I just had another marg. They need to wear hairnets or something. That will ruin a business for sure. read more

My church group goes quite often to this restaurant after church on Sunday mornings. We don't like to share the salsa and queso because we "double dip" and it is not healthy to share the same dish. Last Sunday, Dec. 4 at about 11:15 a.m. there was about 8 of us. They came out with either 1 or 2 of the small cups of dip for the whole table. We asked for each to have their own. We were told they could not because they didn't have enough cups. We knew the waiter was lying because 1) another group of six got their own and we were there before them and 2) an easy solution would be to use styrofoam cups. I asked the waiter what I had to do to get queso, could I buy it? He then brought me some and brought more as the meal continued. If they are truly short on cups, please buy more. If not, please instruct your wait staff to provide enough for each to have their own. This makes us wonder about if we should go there or go somewhere else. My girlfriend wanted me to feed her Mexican food, so I found one of the places I hadn't been in a really long time. The Mexican food restaurant I usually go to is closed on Sundays, so decided to check out Jalapeños since it was a Sunday. Nice little restaurant in a shopping center. If you're not from around here, you may miss it. We were able to sit at a booth as soon as we got there. Our waiter was very friendly and nice. He checked on us often and got us water a few times during our meal. The chips and salsa were decent. The chips also come with some sort of queso as well. Not spicy or anything like that. Kind of watery. Something about it made me come back for more though. I can't explain it, but I liked it. As for lunch, I ordered my go to meal which is chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce. They have chicken fajita enchiladas here, so I decided to go with that. The rice and beans that come with the meal were pretty good. The actual enchiladas were also pretty good. They use flour tortillas. The chicken is cooked perfectly. The sour cream sauce tasted great. All together, it was a nice flavor combination. It's not a place I see myself frequenting, but if I'm ever craving Mexican food on a Sunday again, I'll definitely consider coming here. read more

Pretty decent spot for Tex-Mex. The salsa was too mild for me, but the chips are good and whatever the hell that cheese stuff is...is actually good. Wasn't the best Mexican food I've ever had, but I'd go back. My Hubby and I ordered the fried jalapeno's poppers and they were out of cream cheese so the subbed cheddar. I also ordered a 27 oz raspberry margarita *because I wasn't driving. It was good, but I was surprised I could easily walk after it :-0.....so it wasn't strong. We both ordered the AUCE but only managed to get down one plate. We didn't exactly get what we ordered, but we ate it. It was reasonably priced. It was Sunday, it was the closest thing open and so we gave it a try. read more

Doesn't even deserve a star. Ordered the sour cream and chicken enchiladas. Absolutely no flavor and couldn't eat another bite. I asked for it to be taken back and the manager told me I had to pay for half. Then asked why and she said because I took a bite. I told her I refuse to pay for something I am not having since they did take the plate away. She then said that I wouldn't be allowed in the restaurant all because I asked for it to be taken back. Proceeded to tell me nobody has ever complained and I was the first which is why I must pay. The management was awful. The queso was extremely bland. The canned queso tasted better. Never going back again. Worst service possible. Wasn't even a host to greet or sit us. read more

We walked in and it looked promising... very busy for Friday night. Nothing fancy just a neighborhood joint which was fine. But then Ewwwww is that yellow sauce suppose to be queso? It also found it's way onto my sour cream chicken enchiladas. I thought sour cream was white?! The salsa was watery and not very good either. The food was ok for the price, but we won't be going back. read more

Great wait staff, the burritos are excellent, the tamales are good, enchiladas are good, Chipotle chicken enchiladas are excellent. We got there ten minutes till close and they were still extremely nice and not pushy to get us out of there. The sopapillas are also great. read more

We love this place!!! I have taken employees there and been there many times with my daughter and alone. The experience is always wonderful. A friend from Ohio came to visit. He was a Marine (now deceased). He did not even leave a kernel of rice on his platter. Said it was the best he had eaten outside of Yuma, Arizona where he was stationed for years. I love it. Can't wait until I can go again. I am hoping they will someday offer delivery. I am currently not walking so I cannot get there. But you should go if you can. They also have a place in Allen, Texas with the same great food. My favorite is the two sour cream chicken enchiladas with frijoles and rice. Oh My!!! read more

First I'd like to say that I would have given this place 5 stars had it not been for the service. Yes it was quick, but there was no smile on our waiter's face or anything. Hey, I get it... I've been in the restaurant/ customer service industry for 25+ years... cashier... shift lead, cook, dishwasher, assistant manager, assistant GM, GM... you name it... I have done it. So I know what it's like, but a smile goes a long way. I deal with customers all day long..I asked for a small to go container for the salsa (which is excellent) to go with the to go order we placed he stated that they didn't have those..... sooo how did you put the salsa and queso dips in the bag with the chips? You don't have an empty one in the back?‍‍ Other than that the food was excellent excellent (minus the queso, not to fond of it) . Just work on the conversational skills with your customers and I guarantee you'll get bigger tips. At least from me lol.‍(yes I did give him a good tip anyways) read more

This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant!!! The queso sauce for the chips is amazing, I got the all you can eat enchiladas but only had one plate because I had sooo many chips with and queso. The service here is the best I've seen, we had a party of five and our waitress remembered all of our orders and how we wanted it. The food comes out pretty quickly too and it is delicious. I heard great things about their deserts, but I was too full to try it. Maybe next time I'll leave some room. read more

Jalapeños is a hidden gem nestled within a small shopping center in Mckinney. They have an all you can eat made to order option which I get every time! Be sure to wear your stretchy pants and pick up and extra roll of toilet paper on your way home in preparation of cracking some porcelain. Great cheap Mexican food that will clean you out read more

I'm first visit and it wasn't so great. It took four tries before I received my extra salsa. I was served a taco with no meat in it. My waiter was not attentive until the end when it was time to give me the check. The food was okay. I ordered the all you can eat but since I waited for salsa, I didn't eat much. I'm willing to give the place another shot, but I'm not in any hurry. On a good note: the bathroom was small but clean! read more

I'm torn with Jalapeno's. It has a soft spot in my heart due to the number of times I've been here, the fact that they have the same faces working all the time, and their good at the basics, but at the same time they don't do very well in the food department, which should be the sole purpose of a restaurant, so I'm settling with 3*s, but I think the 3.5 avg they have is very reflective. The biggest qualm I have with this place is the tortillas are pretty terrible, they are most certainly store bought, probably frozen and thawed, so I just avoid them entirely, which saddens me when going for Mexican food. The second knock is that most of the standard dishes that come with beans and rice end up being weighed down by the bland beans and rice. I think Mexican rice is a tough thing to do well, and they don't. That aside, most of the signature dishes are very good, and I really enjoy the steak and shrimp themed ones, and I almost always get one of the frozen margaritas. If poor staples of guacamole/tortillas/beans/rice aren't going to bother you, or you just want a solid margarita and some hard shell tacos. This is the place to be. read more

Good little hole-in-the-wall place. Food was excellent, and prices were very reasonable. I got the lunch "All You Can Eat" cheese enchiladas for $6.99. It was more than enough for me by itself, I didn't order anything else, but just the idea you could get tacos or tamales or something for $0 more is crazy! No complaints from the family, and the chips & salsa were good. Will return! read more

Our favorite tacos are the tripa (extra crispy), barbacoa, and chorizo. Other items we frequently order are the Mohara, Alambre, Beef Quesadilla, Torta, Churros, and the Horchata drink.
