I am very pleased with how much I have learned with just one month of Bachata and salsa classes. Thanks to my awesome instructor, Jeanette, I have been able to learn the basics, follow my partner, and successfully complete turns. Jeanette is really passionate for what she does and take the time to break down every movement. She works with you if you're not understanding And keeps the class pumped at all times. Every class starts at a beginners level and goes over the basic footwork for each dance type. Then you move onto working on more complex foot work and finally get into pairs to practice dancing with someone other than yourself haha. You rotate partners every minute or so so you really get to practice with everyone in the class which gives you a taste of how it would be if you would go out dancing. As you can see, as the time progresses the class becomes more difficult. Every class is about an hour and a half and there is usually about 15 students present. The choice of music is excellent and to top it all off it is a great workout. I definitely recommend investing on some dance shoes because they will help you with footwork and turns. Be mindful that sneakers are not allowed on the dance floor. The place is located in a shopping center with ample free parking. Thanks to Salsa Kings I feel more comfortable with my basic salsa and Bachata dancing and I can't wait to learn more. read more

I have always wanted to learn how to dance salsa. After attempting to learn through friends and feeling defeated like I have no rhythm whatsoever, I decided to join salsa king for singles. After a few classes with the group I decided to pay Jeannette for 10 private classes. It has been an amazing experience, I feel so much confident now. She is very sweet and very patient. I should start by saying I am Cuban and I have danced salsa before at many parties and family reunions. But I have been meaning to take a formal lesson for a while now as there is a fair share of shoes I have stepped on while doing salsa! Ten minutes into the class I realize there is so much more to it and I literally had a "you know nothing John Snow" moment. (Game of Thrones reference). It was a class of all newbies and the teacher was genuinely engaged with every single one of us. We learned basic steps, we put them into action, we mixed and match them, we swapped partners, we had fun!! Took an Open Salsa class last night! The focus on getting the basics is great! They emphasize staying in pace, and frame, which even after taking salsa lessons many years ago, was never really something that was embedded into me. The class is executed in a really fun manner, rotating your partner after every song, so you get used to being able to dance with anyone, or as our instructor called it, being able to dance "in the field". Andrés (?) has a LOT of energy! He lead the class with a charismatic vibe, so it was really easy to follow him. This is the most unprofessional place to go learn salsa. My friend and I bought a month of classes. The first day class was cancelled. We then signed up for a second class hours in advance. When we got there, we were told we were the only two coming so there would be no class. My friend asked if the male instructor, who also works the front desk could teach us a basic step for just 5 minutes since we drove all the way down there. He told us no because he couldn't leave the desk until 7 Incase someone walked in. This is ironic because class starts at 6:30 and he teaches the class so he would have to get up to work anyways. Also the studio is one small little room so if someone walked in while he was teaching us he could have just taken a whole 2 steps from the dance floor to the desk. These people don't want to help you learn, they just want your money. Stay away! read more

I danced ballet for over 15 years but decided to try salsa 6 weeks ago and really enjoy Salsa Kings-the classes here are great and a lot of fun. There are 5 different levels and I like that the class sizes are not too big, which allows for plenty of personalized teaching from the instructors who are very helpful and interactive. Just so you know, they focus on one-on-one partner dancing, rather than the choreographed reudas; but don't worry about coming by yourself, because you'll switch partners throughout the class. They have great packages if you're just beginning to dance or interested in brushing up on your skills. I definitely recommend checking them out! read more

I've been going to salsa kings for a while... on and off, as I don't live in Miami. Ever since I got lessons here as a gift for Christmas, there is not a single trip to Miami where I haven't visited Salsa Kings in order to improve my dancing. It has great instructors, a great structure that allows you to learn and improve your skills. The group lessons are very affordable. Bottom line, if you are looking for a place to learn how to dance, or improve your skills this is definitely a place you should try. The structure of the lessons is one hour, three songs. During that hour you get to review any of the pertinent moves/techniques of the level and when the song plays you get to dance to practice anything you want. Each level has an ultimate focus (steps, frame, lead, etc.), that is being taught through moves in a dynamic way. Allowing you to always learn something. By the end of each class you end up learning much, from the dancing as well as from the comments the instructors make throughout the class. It may require some commitment, but it's definitely a place to try if you are into salsa dancing. I've taken lessons in quite a few places (Boston mainly) and Salsa Kings does have some of the most knowledgeable instructors. One of the caveats is that you never know which instructor you get, or sometimes which levels are offered, making the lessons a bit random. The good thing is that you learn a lot. The instructors are really good at noticing small things, that actually create big differences in your dancing skills. The teaching goes beyond teaching the moves themselves, teaching how to perform them correctly, or making them look even better. One of the best perks of this place is that they really encourage you no matter what level you are. To keep attending the lower level classes, so if any leads or followers are required in a level that you already passed you may get to help with the class for free!! not many places are this committed to learning or their students. The only downside I see to this place is that there is a lot of variability in the instructors in terms of mood, as well as the focus of each. Although this could be considered to be a good thing, as you end up learning from many different people. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that wants to learn or wants to improve, independent of the skill level. read more
