Italian with everything except tomatoes. There's almost no toppings and it was extremely oily

Awful. Will never go there again and would not suggest anyone else waste their money. Overcooked, no cheese, oily and no toppings

I really like this place . Pizza is solid with excellent sauce, plenty of cheese, and a nice thin crispy crust. Staff is friendly as well.

Overpriced or I was overcharged, but the quality definitely not worth it!! You won't take advantage of me or anyone else I know ever again.

$9 Italian style street pie. You can't go wrong. Anyone leaving less than 5 stars obviously didn't know what it was all about.

This is my first…read moretime here so I'm not sure if the configuration it was supposed to be as tight where they have like two high top tables directly behind other dining tables so some acrobatics were needed to be done by both the white staff and customers to sort just move around. I didn't mind that much since it was actually pretty tight and cozy so it actually brought up the energy I think. We already had reservations, so we received a fairly quickly, and the white stuff were very professional and courteous. The food did not disappoint. The calamari came out fresh and hot. Crispy and the banana peppers gave it just the right heat. The marinara sauce paired well with it. The Lobster Fra Diavolo was done in a cute heart shaped, so that was delightful. Lobster was done perfectly and the slightly spicy sauce of the pasta paired beautifully. My favorite was actually the marsala. The Fusilli was done perfectly al dente and soaked in that delicious sauce that was flavorful and clung so well to the pasta. The chicken breast was well marinated and super tender and juicy. Honestly, I wouldn't hesitate to order this again next time.

Cafe Amaro....No Bene!…read more North End is one of my favorite Boston neighborhoods for Italian food especially Pizza. But this time, not so much! We walked in here on a Sunday afternoon and stopped at Cafe Amaro since they had open tables. The restaurant is very small probably about 10 or so tables. We sat right up against the kitchen which was warm since it was a bit chilly outside. After about 5-8 minutes went by our server came over and we asked to sample 2 glasses of wine. They were not good at all. After tasting one more we finally landed on the Chianti. We then waited longer to place our order which was the Prosciutto and Fig pizza. I also ordered a soda water with lemon which never came. Note: there are 2 servers and I believe 1 speaks English but I am not 100% sure. Once our server finally came over my husband had to remind him of the soda water which he proceeded to say "we only have large bottles." Ok, thanks for letting me know since the other server/busser did not. Does he work here? Does he know the menu? Why wouldn't he tell me this the first place? Our pizza finally came and even after ordering it well done it was still floppy and flimsy to the point when everytime we went to pick up the slice everything fell off...UGH! I don't know how in the North End this place gets by or survives? Maybe they were having an off day? I do see other reviews that had better experiences than ours. Maybe they were short on staff? If that was the case then say something because I probably would've had more patience and understanding if this was the case. BTW, Our server NEVER came over after ordering our wines and pizza. He never asked "how is everything?" NEVER... I also rarely give one/two stars to restaurants but this was despicable and I really hope this is not their norm. All I have to say is there are so many other better restaurants in the North End to go to, but Cafe Amaro is not one of them.

I highly recommend the lobster ravioli, and the new ragu napolitana wood fire pizza (beef and veal). The Caesar salad is a nice simple pairing. It can be a loud atmosphere, so be prepared for that.

I love a dim lit restaurant; however, a candle on our table or a small table light would be appreciated (we had to take one from another table). In addition, the music was really loud we found ourselves having to speak loudly to hear one another and we could clearly hear the conversations of the tables around us. As for the food, we didn't have many positive things to say. The highlight of the meal was the pesto dipping sauce that came with the bread and the fries that came with the steak. The bread tasted and felt stale, not off to a great start. Additionally, the meatballs came out room temperature, they didn't really have any flavor, and they tasted freezer burnt. My significant other really enjoyed the cacio e pepe sauce that came with the arancini but I wasn't a fan. The arancini itself was really good. As for our entrees neither of us were a fan of our dishes. I only ate a couple of bites of my pasta and my boyfriend said the steak wasn't great. We didn't have high hopes for dessert but my significant other enjoyed the tiramisu, but the cannolis just weren't good. Overall, the service was okay and the food not so great. Not sure if it's because we ordered off the dine out menu, but we probably won't return. You could get better italian food somewhere else in the North End.

BenCotto just gets better year after year…read more It is one of those rare North End restaurants that hits every note perfectly. Food, service, atmosphere, and soul. It's a lively, energetic intimate spot with a steady mix of locals, friends, after work meet ups, and curious tourists who search on Yelp and quickly realize they've found something great. It's busy in the best way, upbeat, warm, and buzzing but never so loud that you can't enjoy a conversation. What truly sets BenCotto apart is Chef Fabio DiCenso and his incredible staff. Chef Fabio is the heart of the restaurant. He's known for his creativity and consistency, and it shows in the daily lineup of specials, always delicious. This night I had spinach gnocchi a la vodka with salmon!! a chef who genuinely loves what he does. Diners often mention how Chef Fabio steps out of the kitchen to check on guests, and it's clear he takes pride in making sure everything is just right. There's an easy confidence to the staffs service from being seated to them walking you through specials, to recommending their favorite dishes. The drinks deserve its own spotlight. The martinis are excellent, one standout and practically a signature at this point is the pistachio martini. Dangerously smooth, it's the best in the North End and absolutely worth the trip on its own. As for the food, the hits are many, The eggplant rollatini appetizer that's a perfect starter and, of course, their pizzas, which strike that ideal balance of crisp, airy crust and fresh, clean flavors. BenCotto isn't trying to be a quiet, white-tablecloth dining room, it's a neighborhood spot with personality, heart, and craft. Chef Fabio and his staff make it feel authentic and care about its food and the people it serves. Whether you're a regular or a first-timer, you feel it the moment you sit down. A must-visit in the North End.
